Hey Waldo, if you want you're welcome to give my fireball a spin on Friday at the jumps. I'll take an extra bike. You can generally pick up a DJ like a Fireball or Chucker for well less than R5k. I'd refrain from buying new since you're going to trash it a few times. Just upgrade as you break or bend things and you'll have a great rig eventually.

The XTs and SLXs are pretty closely priced, diminishing returns though, surely, when you start moving up to XTR, etc?

Is there any reason to buy a Shimano brake above an SLX? Serious question. I use them on my beater and they're probably the best brakes I've owned (disclaimer: haven't owned a lot of brakes). Fit 'em and forget. How much more benefit do you get from moving up to XT, XTR, etc?

It also doesn't damage phone screens. I poured half of it on my iPhone trying to watch the YouTube video while I did it.

Usually shouted from a distance on the Spruit but commonly followed by a Hub post claiming the guy would have been sorted out if shouter a)hadn't been in such a rush b ) hadn't wanted to avoid upsetting his wife c) could just figure out why it upset him so much.

This video's obviously pretty funny because of the kid's commentary but it's a really nice looking trail; smooth, windy and loads of jumps to play on.

Just get any set of sealed hubs you can afford and you should be done with all your problems. I'd ask around at the LBS first because you'll pay a lot for higher end hubs or wheelsets from online stores like BMXdirect.net (they are local though). That said, if you're willing to dish out the R3k for their wheelsets you can put them on and forget about them.

Proprietary hubs in general, I would think. Wreck 'em and then buy yourself a decent wheelset.
