  1. I currently own one, it feels like a pretty solid frame… it holds up in crashes well. That's about all I'm qualified to give advice on.
  2. Good news, everybody, Giro Flak helmet just arrived, fits perfectly. Back to not caring about my problem…
  3. The full faces are pretty sweet but a simple old piss pot lid would be great for summer.
  4. Transcript of the commentary: wha! wha! ge! Gwe! Gwegee gwee gwew gwedgdhskjaghsd!
  5. They had the hybrid style helmets, you know the ones that are halfway between a MTB helmet and a BMX helmet but I'm looking for something I can smash my head with regularly without the helmet breaking apart.
  6. Went there yesterday, they don't stock them anymore unfortunately.
  7. It was probably heading that way 'til the Audi driver saw he had a camera.

    BMX helmets

I'm battling to find any stores that stock decent BMX style helmets in Joburg. Any of you guys got some suggestions? Also, if any of you with a really big, really long head have found a helmet that fits, please let me know the brand. The Bell and 661 helmets haven't worked out for me so far. Looking at ordering an XL Fox Transition or Giro Flak from CRC but wary of doing so without having tried them out. I've attached a picture of my head for reference.
  9. I asked the builders at the centre if we could use a bunch of their dirt and they said it was fine. Might be easier to haul it over there with a bakkie rather than doing 20 trips with a barrow. You keen to work on them this afternoon or tomorrow morning?
  10. Hey Mileage, I've chatted to you a couple of times on my way to work in the morning. I'll try and get down there with a spade before work some time next week and help out. Well done on starting something there. The takeoff on the jump over the stream is actually really nice. Even though it's flat on the other side, the landing's not too heavy, though a bit of a slope on the other side would make it more comfortable. Maybe when you move the third tabletop you could take all the soil out the middle, turn it into a double roller and use the extra soil to build the landing on the other side of the stream?
  11. Follow up to this… bought a Mongoose Fireball, 8spd. I love the thing, it's fun to just mess around like a kid again trying to manual, bunny hop random stuff and hit the odd jump plus it's pretty easy to ride along the Spruit as well. Definitely a good buy.
  12. Can't be as expensive as the trail riding, though? Guys seem to be spending as much on those bikes as they do on cars.
  13. That would be awesome, man. Are there some tabletops there to ease back into or is it just doubles?
  14. Hey guys, I've been thinking of trying out MB but I'm not really sure I'm going to enjoy just riding around offroad. To make a short story long, I used to ride BMX about eight or ten years ago (I wasn't great but I really loved it, used to ride at Swells in PMB and then Cascades a lot before I moved to Jozi) so I was thinking of trying out a dirt jumper like a Chucker or Fireball. The only thing is that I'm 32 now (maybe this is an early midlife crisis or something) so I'm wary of going and throwing R5k at a bike only to realise I'm more of a pussy than I ever was. I guess what I'm asking is, are there any guys around Jozi with spare bikes who I could join for an easy ride somewhere to see whether I enjoy it and whether or not I can still jump (or at least survive the crashes) like I used to. I live in Linden
