    Momsen SL929

Service cost to high for a full sus, and for 36k it will probably be quite a heavy bike? any suggestions in the full sus department?

Dangle, what would you buy for R36k if you were given the choice now?
  3. Hi Guys For those that really take the quality of the lube they use seriously take a minute and read this: About Chain-L I will try to shed some light on the pros and cons of a wet lube. Dry Lube: Does it run cleaner and why is clean important?: If you apply wet lube properly, it can be almost as clean and should never splatter oil over your bike-most people use to much wet lube and do not wipe it down properly after application. A long lasting lube will become cleaner as you dry wipe the chain after a few rides and the chain will still be lubed on the inside. Not waterproof: after a few river crossings, the chain start creaking as all the 'lube' inside the chain is washed away. Do not use when raining! Needs frequent re-application: This is not necessary when using a good wet lube like Chain-L, Rock and Roll. I do not like stopping every 30 kms for a chain lube. Use more lube: in the long run you will use more lube and the total cost will be cheaper using a long lasting wet lube. Wet Lube: Can be used for 1000 plus km on a road bike and a week (or more- +- 200km) on a mtb in Stellenbosch area (dusty dry at the moment). Chain will still run smooth. No need to re-apply after avery ride or even mid ride. Prevents wear and tear more efficiently than a dry lube. Can be used on dry and wet rides. Application: the trick is in the application and if done properly, your chain will be relatively clean, well lubed for much longer, water resistant, dust proof, quiet, last longer-less w&t. See application instrutions Also read some reviews! And by the way: Chain-L (2 years in a row) and Rock and Roll (which are both wet lubes) are the only lubes to receive awards from MTBR website

    Momsen SL929

I am in the market for a29er HT and have been looking at the Cannondale Flash carbon 29er 2 (R36 0000- 9.9 kg). I saw the Momsen in the latest bicycling and the bike has a great groupset, for the price and it weighs between 9.5 kg (for a Size M, weight given to me by Momsen himself) and 9.05kg as on this review website (My link). This bike's RRP is R45 000 and I am sure I can get it for around R40 000. Which route would you go? Only thing against the Momsen is the fact that it is their first carbon 29er. It is probably a rebadged something, but if that something is of good quality, then it should bo OK? Only has a 3 year warranty vs lifetime on the Dale.
  5. no interest? where are all the students on this site?

  10. Bought some stuff at Evans, and delivery was 2 days late, so now the person that was going to bring the stuff back for me has already left the UK. 1 pair of MTB shoes 2 shirts 1 pair of gloves The stuff has been removed from the original packaging and all labels removed, so duties should not be payable. The value is also below the R3000 allowance that individuals get. From SARS website LINK: New or Used Goods in Accompanied Baggage to a total value not exceeding R3 000 per person In addition to the personal effects and consumables allowances, travellers are allowed new or used goods in accompanied baggage to the value of R3 000. This allowance is only valid once per person during a 30 day period and shall not apply to goods imported by persons returning after an absence of less than 48 hours. Please PM me if you can help or know someone that can help. Thanks Chain-L
  11. Comment by reader of this article (see below). They all DOPE and that is the sad part about this great sport. Spoke to an retired Iron Man racer and said he used to dope and there is almost no way that a non doper can compete with a doper at this level. what a joke schleck is... is he ever going to take responsibility for dropping his own chain by being in the wrong gear? on top of that, he, without hesitation left contador and armstrong after his brother held them up in a crash... further, was it not his father who was caught with a trunk full of steroids and his brother who was given a ban for doping? are we to believe that andy was on a different track than his father and frank who he has trained with since he was a child. he should be a man and concede that he popped his own chain and alberto handed him the stage win on the col de tourmalet as a gesture. is this andy suddenly saying he is deserved of getting contador's yellow jersey after months and months of saying he doesn't want it. regardless of contador's suspension or alleged clenbuterol use (of which not one scientist has been able to explain why it didn't show up the day before or the day after which 100% disproves a plasticizer doping theory), schleck is a lousy sportsman and they should give the title to the assasin or sanchez who have at least had the good grace to shut up and ride. 12. You do realise that 100% is more than 16%? They are not taking your money and selling it to someone else at the same price-thats the whole point! BTW, for a person that feels so strongly about charity, you have a tasteful signature mocking a cancer survivor!
  13. Just did a sub for an entry to the attakwas. No charge, just an email to the organisors... Even that other 7 day race charge a % of the entry for a sub and not double. The benificiary is irrelavant. It does not mean that because you give the entry fee to charity that you can charge double. It will be hard to convince me that this is the right way to deal with substitutions.
  14. specialized without a doubt. Do a search for the superfly, every second reviewers bike has cracked.
  15. koukie, I am also in the market vor one of these, have done a lot of reading, and it seems like a great bike for the price. will be taking one for a spin this weekend from my LBS. I think it is quite well priced if you compare it to the flash one which goes for 56k an only weighs 300 grams lighter. What other options are you looking at? I am also considering a S-works and the Scott with the 949gram carbon frame that should be here soon. Let me know what you can find out.
  16. I can not see the relevance of the price of chain lube to this thread, but then again, what do i know? I am not in the race car or race oranising business No other race that i know of has double entry fee for subs.
  17. Still think a R50-R100 admin fee will be acceptable. Feel that charging twice for the same entry is taking it a bit far. There can be many reasons for people not starting the race and this system makes it difficult for those to recover their costs and also makes the entry VERY expensive for the new rider.
