  1. no. mostly nissan half
  2. thanks. I'll suggest it to the organizers and sponsors (now that we have worked out who is responsible).
  3. Don't forget Hakahana Trails!! Open weekends & public Holidays. Hand-made trails and personal service. XCM, XCO, Enduro....
  4. sure looked and felt like PVA. Not chalky at all. Hope I'm wrong.
  5. Unfortunately only saw him before my ride. Not sure if he knows.
  6. Personally I dont think permanent paint is acceptable anywhere in such a pristine environment. And if there are no other options then at least on the back of loose rocks that can be turned over. I am sorry i didnt have my phone to take photos. You have never seen anything like it. Sometimes 5-7 markings in a 10m zone. It looks like they painted every sharp rock that cause damage to a tyre!!! sometimes long stripes like the paintbrush was just dragged over the rocks from the back of a bike!! It is seriously wrong. The organizers and sponsors need to be held to account on this, unless someone can convince me the paint will miraculously disappear.
  7. Depends. The FULL Mtb is very fair. There are two tough-ish climbs but both on dual-track so bunching shouldnt be a problem. The rest is flowy and fun, almost entirely on contour with a few small surprises. It will still test you.
  8. I had the privilege today of doing a chilled ride in the far western end of the Magaliesberg, just past Mooinooi and Buffels Dam. At one part of the trail (on an authorized private property) I came across white markings in white paint, painted directly onto the rocks, at almost every 5-10m!!!!!!! This really upset me, as I used to walk a lot of these trails as part of MCSA. This is a protected and pristine ecology. But I was real pissed when a local labourer informed me the markings were for a 'bicycle race' a few weeks ago. Does anyone know who is responsible for this? This will KILL our sport and access to these pristine environments!!!!!
  9. Totally impressed. Didn't think you guys had any daylight time for anything else but kitchenning. Not sure how you do it. Fanta-pants and all!!!
  10. every track is different. We have two main climbs but nothing silly..Loads of overtaking opportunity and some awesome singletrack too.
  11. Advendurance will when they are fully approved and set.
  12. Thanks for the feedback. You are in for a cracker at Hakahana!! Routes almost finalized taking in account many lessons learned form Heia and comments following. We think we have planned a perfectly balanced track for everyone and have made sure there is loads of spectator action at the venue too.
  13. that wont be the case at hakahana
  14. Hey guys, any constructive feedback from the Heia routes? Congestions? Suggestions? I am finalizing our routes this week...
  15. "Jump-er-trax"
  16. great feed back thanks. (Although you make it sound like there are endless/multiple options available to us). 1. I would have cut an alternative route down long ago had ONE landowner not refused access. Thats still the case, but there may be an alternative worth exploring now that you've raised it. 2. Hadn't heard of the crashes on the tar. Need to think that through.. 3. Cant stop myself from looking for new routes..
  17. Bunnychow is topping the list for weekenders though...
  18. No Its the concrete road down used only by half-M. The marathon went up to the MTN tower at that point. Sounds like bad luck, but that road is a bit knarly anyway.
  19. FYI - UPCOMING EVENTS AT HAKAHANA: Sat 9th August - XCOSA #1 - Sat 23rd August - MOMENTUM DUALX #2 - Sat 27th September - XCOSA #2
  20. Cheers Riaan. Thanks for being a sport re. Graspolle... I had to chuckle though as 3 days before the event we lost access to the whole middle section where I had already completed this years routes. We then frantically cut two new lines and I stood there looking at those fresh graspolle and smiled, knowing there was no way we would get to clearing them.. (BTW things changed till 9pm Friday this year, despite being prepared months before).
  21. Cheers mate. Our blue, green and purple trails are intermediate and still fun and flowy bush trails totaling about 30k. But I am also working on a plan to mark some routes though to Broederstrooom, and then link up with Erics trails from VG. I ride this often. its a district ride with some nice options.
  22. Cheers Grant. You get it, and I agree.
  23. And please I know of the irritating Gerotek wyndi-wyndi at the end. That was totally unavoidable at the last minute. Out of our control. There were no alternatives.
  24. Hi All As usual these forums are limited by the number of active participants, so seeing there are a few of us interested in making great trails and having special rides I'd like some honest feedback on the Nissan Routes. I understand there were some marking issues and confusion and there were long queues for food and beer etc, but I'd like to focus on the ride.. The rhythm, the demand, the balance, the texture.... The intent this year was to 'soften' the 40k to make it both a pleasureable but still challenging experience. The 70k gives us license to use our more serious trails and we expect anyone entering this distance to be aware of the possible technical nature. Bear in mind we prepared 100km of routes this year over some heavy terrain - there is not much more available in the valley and almost every bit of the 35km+ single-track has been hand-cut. Unfortunately the 20k went badly wrong. This is a pity as we actually prepared a really nice ride and new trails with the sole intent of getting young riders to really ENJOY the experience. Is there any specific section you really loved or hated? Where were bottle necks, and if so please your rough batch no... etc
