  1. Just get a Triple Crown! =D (Will also help with not falling although your uphill might suffer slightly)
  2. Mmm thats not bad and its right by my work too - i think i recall them saying something about R300 / month for membership not R169, but i shall enquire about this! Thanks
  3. Ye i would totally be in to this - although R500 / month is a bit steep - might as well take a gym membership out then, but alas coffee + shower is always a good combination!
  4. Any other suggestions?
  5. Same happened to me, luckily i had medical aid, and i only broke my foot, so the medical stuff wasnt too hectic - was told to claim back from RAF and when i saw the piles and piles of paper work i just gave up and left it. You will also have to contact the driver and get a lot of their details for the RAF as well as all the doctors involved - maaaaajor mission, im no lawyer but i dont know why they cant just use the medical records that are there already or receipts etc..
  6. Tried - To no avail. The place of ill repute is not open so early in the morning haha. Long Street baths seems like a plan, never been there before so need to check it out
  7. Hi Guys, So CycleLab is closing down on Buitengracht street - They were my go to place for a shower when i commute into town, and it was really close to my work too - so pretty bummed when i heard about them closing their doors! I do not have a gym membership and don't intend on getting one just to make use of a shower, on another note - is there even bicycle racks outside VA in the CBD? I was wondering if anyone knew of any other free-ish shower spots in the CBD, I am willing to pay a small amount if need be as well, and i would only use the place once or twice a week. Any help would be much appreciated! Otherwise i will have to go the way of the siff/wet wipes!
  8. Managed to get some from Nils @ WS Cycleworks - I didn't find any at Builders or Midas / Auto Shops
  9. I don't agree with you there, I've never had a bus not stop for me there, but everyone has a different experience - just my 2c
  10. Was this by the pedestrian crossing where the cycle path ends and you have to cross over? Or before that?

    New Commuter

In terms of timing - I leave TV at about 7:10 and get into town at roughly 7:50 on a good day with no wind on my road bike, if there is a bit of a breeze in the morning you will have to leave earlier or push harder, up to you... I generally check windguru the night before, best days are when there is no wind in the morning and its a pomping SE in the evening, then you can get home in 25 mins! haha! Other than that, bring some mace - you never know!
  12. Fittees do an awesome job, and their shirts are top notch quality - based in CT though.. http://www.fittees.com/wholesale/
  13. Where did you get your replacement parts? Can you give me Contact details? Thanks!
  14. So i was swapping my pads out when I somehow managed to break the piston head off of my Juicy brake... Does anyone know if its possible to get a replacement piston or would it just be easier to buy a new brake? Yes I know its a very average brake but the bike is a commuter so nothing fancy is needed! Cheers
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, haven't had a chance to go to builders or anywhere like that yet so will do so on the weekend, tried to find some in CBD to no avail! Thanks Sepia for the donation, i am however in Cape town so might be an issue!
  16. Hi there, I will be embarking on a cycle tour soon and I am needing to mount racks / panniers onto my bike. My bike however doesn't have any eyelets for a rack so i will need to use P-Clips or Band Clamps or whatever you wish to call them to mount the rack onto my seat stays. I see they are for sale on some cycling sites but im not willing to pay R120+ for them. Has anyone seen these available at Builders warehouse or any hardware shops? http://pedalcyclery.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/stainless-steel-P-clips.jpg Alternatively has anyone seen one of these locally? 17. New Cassette on thanks to Nils for organising me an old school 7 speed cassette! Maiden voyage to chappies felt like a dream, bike feels absolutely amazing! (Compared to how it was haha)
  18. Thanks guys! Cant wait to get it all together now... although i do love the process!
  19. It's coming together now... New tyre + Bar Tape really finishes it off. I polished up the friction shifters as well last night, and wired up the brakes. Dont know if I will want to ride the bike anymore, think i may just stare at it from now on haha!
  20. And this is the bike so far: Bought new bar tape and new back tyre today, so that is definitely changing, then its just a matter of polishing up the old derailleurs and setting up all the cables and it will be done! Looking pretty hot so far! Anyone want to swap a black saddle for my white one?
  21. The Finished frame: Then i started on the polishing up of the old alu parts using the same polishing kit (Torkacraft I think) posted in one of the other SS projects on this forum, parts came out really good but it took a day of elbow grease to shine up the seat post, cranks and stem. Before: After: Much Bling!
  22. Ok so im back from the long weekend finally and there has been plenty of progress! Bike respray is complete, some pics below of the process: Colour is on: Decals on:
  23. Quick update: The frame fully sanded down and ready for paint! Primer went on last night, will be doing the spray tomorrow as well the deacals and clear coat! Using a proper spray gun for the primer and clear coat which is automotive stuff but using spraypaint for the colour, unfortunately i cant get hold of any auto style paint in time for this project! But i am using some of the best spray paint you get - Montana - used by all the graf guys, it sprays amazingly compared to the normal cheapie spray paint you buy at the hardware store! Just hoping i dont get chipping later on!
  24. Ye I thought about getting a long bolt nut the size of the one that comes out of there but i searched high and low and couldnt find anything that matched, but its cool i need to go through to the shop anyway and query some other parts I need!
  25. Ok so I spent some time last night, ran into problems with the crank extractor i had not being small enough to fit into the inside thread of the crank... so its off to the bike shop today to let them remove it hopefully! Managed to get the headset in the vice and remove the fork that way, whatever works hehe! Other than that the stripping/sanding is going well, I figured out that if i spray the stripper on when the frame is lying down it works much better than hanging the frame... also a metal brush is AWESOME when it comes to all the nooks and crannies, and makes life so much easier. So should be about 1 more day of stripping and sanding then onto the primer!
