  1. Sportsworld.co.za has some cheap bibs/shorts... Check it out!
  2. It may be a rip off but atleast it wont rip off the car......... har har But yes i agree, any bike carrier is retardedly expensive - in some cases more expensive than the bike its carrying ! (The irony)
  3. Thanks for the tip, went there this morning, not a bad deal!
  4. It's just more fun, makes the everday route a new challenge! (In the wind and rain)
  5. Quite a warm commute everyday now in CT... Only baselayer and leg warmers in the morning, then normal jersey in the evenings.. its just the dam miggies by sunset beach that are insane at the moment! Cant even count how many i have swallowed!
  6. Apparently 1500 people have registered to attend... Expect traffic!
  7. I read it on the site before this post...
  8. Gonna be a bit of a downer here... but to be honest I dont see the point in spending R2k for a fancy piece of tech that just replaces a mirror or looking over your shoulder which you will inevitably end up doing anyway, oh and if you are riding in a group it doesnt work either...
  9. Solid is the only one that looks nice - the rest look like the design team got really drunk and chose their first idea??
  10. I second this, the view is really great from the top (If you get there)
  11. Commuting into work this morning (Blouberg -> Town) I noticed 3 roadies, riding in the morning traffic, parallel to the bike lanes. What made this even worse was the fact that they started lane splitting because there wasnt enough shoulder (There is no shoulder on the road - thats why there is a bike lane). This makes all other cyclists look bad in the eyes of car users, especially when there is a purpose built lane right there... Please guys, use the bike lanes like everyone else, if you are chasing strava times or if having to slow down to cross the pavements ticks you off, rather cycle in the other direction (up the west coast road) where there is plenty of shoulder and no pavements to cross..!
  12. Just an update - Haven't been around for a month and cycled in this morning to work to find that the long street baths are closed for maintenance or something, and they dont give a date when they will be opening again... so no shower for me again! Sigh!
  13. Was walking down somerset road earlier and saw an interesting character riding a red pinarello road bike with white accents on the pavement next to Cape Quarter, wasn't quick enough to grab a photo, but thought i would put it out there in case anyone's pinarello went missing... its riding around greenpoint/seapoint!
  14. Ya it gets really bad sometimes, just breath through your nose and look down, otherwise buff and glasses!
  15. I learnt after commuting home last night in the pissing rain, that fenders are mandatory - not optional!

    New Commuter

Ah yes i was running a tad late! Ill stick around next time and say howzeet!
  17. Mmmm good idea, i started wearing full finger gloves so i cant whistle with my fingers anymore haha, will have to get a real whistle then!
  18. Lock the bike up outside by one of the many poles, changing area is clean and so are the showers, although there is only two and only one with a door, haha - get what you pay for!
  19. This has happened to me too many times! Another one for the CPT > TV Crew is pedestrians walking side by side on the bridge near sunset beach - nothing more frustrating than having to creep along because they dont see or hear you!
  20. Not exactly 5 Star, but it will do for now!
  21. That article can be summed it in one sentence: He decided to take a pro-active approach to cycling rather than reactive, its like the difference between defensive driving and normal driving i guess.
  22. Just an update. Went to Long Street Baths this morning for the first time, bit out of my way but it works and costs a measly R5, might start commuting in even earlier so i can go for a swim after the ride haha, like doing a triathlon backwards!
