  1. Stumbled upon these the other day lol http://shop.fiascociclismo.com/product/cock-socks http://images.cdn.bigcartel.com/bigcartel/product_images/154876492/max_h-300+max_w-300/whitegreencock2.jpg
  2. Take up kitesurfing, you're already living in one of the best places in the world to do it - if you cant beat 'em - join 'em!
  3. yup, although it gets pretty hilly if it would manage to go into durbanville side, aka vissershok climb and all the others in that area... we might be doing the Die Burger lol
  4. Maybe all 30 000 cyclists should cycle to the fire and help put it out?? The Fire-gus!
  5. Hey man, I did a one month tour (Transkei -> CPT) last year and i was in the same position as you. Here is what i learnt: If you want panniers, go through cycletouring.co.za and get some ortliebs, its the best price you will get them for, cant get them any cheaper if you try import them yourself either. I got the classic rollers and they are rock solid however - replace the plastic bolts / wood screws that secure the rack clipping system to the inside of the pannier with a proper bolt and a locknut, mine literally rattled out after one day on dirt roads in transkei, luckily i brought a whole lot of spare bolts which i used to replace the plastic *** that ortlieb gives you. I even emailed them and they said they havent had any issues with them before (this is ortlieb international) but yeah, rather dont take the chance and replace them before hand. With regards to racks, any rack will do - just make sure that your bike has eyelets, and always bring spare bolts with locktight, i had one of my bottom bolts shear off which had me doing a ghetto zip tie fix for the remaining few days. And two back panniers with one big waterproof bag that you use on river rafting trips on top of the rack will be more than sufficient, no need for front panniers - you will end up not using half of what you bring anyway! Oh and chamois cream.... this will be worth more than gold ! PM me if you want more info! Cheers
  6. Jeepers, i rode through there at about the same time as well by myself on sunday. And i did see a security guard walking there, not sure if he was just passing through or whatever though... There is CCTV by the bridge going under the N1 and then on the other side by the small downhill into woodstock, so the only issue area is on that long straight where the fence is all broken. Not sure how they would have gotten a bike through that hole though - its not that big? Hope they find his bike and hes ok! Sounds like they just took a chance hey!
  7. Its a lotttttt easier on a fixie, as you control the backwards and forwards movement of the bike, but on a normal bike i tend to go forward to much and then subsequently need to clip out...
  8. Get Gatorskins for your road bike (If you dont have them already) I was getting so many punctures at one stage with my old crappy R100 tires that i thought i was going to go insane from the patching of tubes every night, and road tubes seem to be a lot more finicky to get right because of the pressure, needless to say, i forked out for the gators and havent had a puncture or a pinch flat since!
  9. I do recall in my younger years, my dad made something very very similiar to this, except it was one plank of wood that he somehow managed to get balanced on the top tube (Back when top tubes werent angled like they are now) and i sat on it like the pic above ^^ Was great because you can atleast see whats going on! Albeit not as safe as the full on bucket seat i guess, but hey theres always a trade off!
  10. Yup, as said before we need a weekend warriors category so we can let loose!
  11. Haha, guess ill just have to put up with them after all hehe
  12. Hairy please add me to the whatsapp commute group
  13. Yes! Weekend Warriors Category is needed!
  14. I would enter but i see there is no Open mens category... i am not an elite racer, i just want to race for fun - wheres my category??
  15. Hey guys, I plan on doing a nice roadie ride tomorrow out to stellies from table view side for the first time (Over doing hout bay/chappies) In terms of route, is going past conties, up to the end of vissershok then klipheuwel the way to go? Also hows the wind? Dont wanna get caught on the way back or there etc :| Thanks!!!!!
  16. Are there any good routes from Table View out to Stellenbosch side that are quiet / have a shoulder? Edit* Never mind, google maps ftw... ! Is klipheuwel quite a popular route?
  17. Sounds like the Tour Divide... Except its an organised version
  18. How do they get that funky pattern on the blade?
  19. So whats the going price for the new 2015 Trance? I priced it @ R23 400 - sound about right?
  20. Cool, thanks for the feedback - I have a DH bike, which i am looking to sell to help fund the 'do it all' bike as the DH rig doesnt get used enough... And I think i meant a 'do it all' bike as the 170mm travel bikes are a little bit out of my budget hehe!
  21. Opinions please! Looks like the new Trance seems to be the favourite?
  22. Haha, i was going to say the same.. except i see i packed an apple jacket for the just in case days!
  23. Spotted this from Interbike http://ep1.pinkbike.org/p4pb11411286/p4pb11411286.jpg http://www.lupine.de/eng/products/rear-tail-lights/rotlicht "Lupine had this new Rotlicht (red light) on display. 160 lumens, 55g and attached via a simple rubber belt. It features a Brightness Sensor which reacts to ambient light, for example if a car's headlights appear behind you it turns up the brightness. But what really caught my attention was the built in accelerometer senses when you slow down and illuminates a brake light. Is this a first in the cycling industry? Lupine also have a range of Smartcore batteries. Pictured is the largest 13.2Ah, it has an LED Capacity Indicator and can be used to recharge anything using the USB connection. Great for keeping your SmartPhone alive on camping or adventure rides when you need to stay in constant contact with Facebook."
  24. Hey man, let me know if you are keen to go through with the site at a later stage. I am a web designer so i could help with the design side
