  1. Hi ... Does anyone know how to get the pdf of the results ? I logged into sas and it gives me my overall position but not in relation to anyone else ?
  2. Mountain bikers in a road races ? Come on guys... A friend and I (both Mtb ladies) did 94.7, starting in around k batch. I was on my road bike and my friend on her mountain bike. Half way down the m1 with the two of us having a big chat, setting a great pace and working together as we would on any Mtb race. We heard a noise and both of us looked around and realised that we were towing around 20 cyclists. No notice, no signal and not a word from any of them to warn us they were there! This happened multiple times in the race until we realised that we should consider this a compliment. These guys really had no issues being on our wheels. On every hill we overtook loads of people especially in the last half of the race, even pulled more up the hills. So the question is why all the moaning if you are happy to sit behind us and not work as hard ? I certainly would stick on any mountain bikers wheel knowing they have conquered some of south Africa's most awesome and tricky descents and rough terrain. Would I voluntary ride in the middle of a bunch as a mountain biker - no ways, but that is my personal preference. But the opposite seems to apply as with our experience on 94.7 this year !
  3. Whoop whoop ! My cradle loop has been way to short of late !! Well done !!
  4. I stopped together with 2 other people on Saturday to assist a cyclist who had fallen off his bike on Bryanston Drive. I didn't catch ur name in the chaos but would love to know if ur okay? Does anyone know of a Spanish mountain biker living in Morningside, married to Marina? Would love an update on how you are doing and hope your recovery is going well.
  5. There was a guy in one of the later batches looking for a garmin, near the satelite descent Here is hoping he is a hubber !!
  6. Fab race ! My first full one certainly lives up to its name. Well trust specialised to adopt the elitist approach and not draw from list of entrants !! Half the real Mtb warriers were still out on course of the full one . Apparently the announcer said at one stage over 400 riders still on course ! That's a lot of people who were excluded from the draw-poor form! Have also posted on their FB page. So did Thule, extreme lights and e bucks draw in similar ways to Specialised ??
  7. Been through this myself and like every mountain biker here, there is no easy start! She needs a decent bike so it's not a mission to even climb the first three hills at northern farms. She needs a great support network of other riders and even coaches. Try cadence being going for 2 years and haven't looked back. She needs to enter every race she can and who cares if they are too technical the only way u learn is by doing them. My first stage race was sabi experience, followed by sani and then wines 2 whales. I am hooked! She needs to find a group of riders who ride her pace and train like she does. I like riding with the girls from gym sometimes as it makes it easier to judge where one stacks up instead of chasing the guys at max to just keep up. And on the technical stuff I used to and still do hit the bike park ! Anyone can do a stage race u just need to train right and wrap ur mind round it !
  8. Andy, couple of my friends wanna come watch, will there be spectator points on the bridge ?? Is it visible from dabs club house ?
  9. Hey guys...not cool that no one was doing medals for later finishers...had to go ask for one from the announcer whilst the prize giving was going on for a couple of us that had some mechanicals...
  10. Try dedicate an area in ur home to cycling...my entire spare room is for the bikes and gear...
  11. Lets hope they fix this as I really enjoy it there
  12. I see the mtb bug has bitten, see u on the marathon next year !!!
  13. Hey guys...rode there today for the first time, we did the blue and joined up with red which was really cool and definitely the red is a toughie...quick question tho we wanted to do the yellow as well where does that start??

  16. Flat flat flat and 350 metres of climbing...
  17. Interesting article above, ...do u think that number of ladies tracking the epic is an indication of number of ladies who are competing in the sport, or ladies following their husbands, boyfriends etc.....9 percent of the field are women.... 23 percent are following...hoping this is an indication of a changing dynamic in mountain biking.
  18. There has been an average of 5 123 online mentions about the #absacapeepic per day since it started on Sunday, March 23rd. Individuals have been consistently mentioning the Absa Cape Epic race online; a very noteworthy pattern indicating to high community interest and dedication over the eight-day-long event. The first day of an event usually sees the highest volume of online conversation, with a decline evident thereafter. This is not the case with the Absa Cape Epic, which has maintained consistent attention online. This is according to BrandsEye, the world’s first crowd-supported online monitoring and insights company, who adds that 7 828 individuals have been contributing to this conversation, which has totalled 25 623 online mentions between the start of the race on the 23rd and yesterday, the 27th. BrandsEye’s CEO, JP Kloppers says this indicates that a tight community of people are interested in the events of the race and are speaking about it amongst themselves, resulting in an average of 3.3 online mentions per individual. The conversation has been aggregated, revolving around the event’s popular hashtag, #absacapeepic, which has been included in 75% of all online conversation over the past 5 days. Next to @AbsaCapeEpic, online authors to produce the highest number of mentions have included Andre Ross (@The_Mr_Ross), 229 mentions, Team Bulls (@TeamBulls), 160 mentions, Sean Badenhorst (@Mr_TREAD), 147 mentions, and Kevin McCallum (@Kevin McCallum), 135 mentions, who are seemingly using Twitter to live-tweet the events of each day. From his 147 online mentions, Sean Badenhorst has managed to generate 725 retweets and replies (engagements) to his content. This could be the result of his high credibility on Twitter (4 901 followers), in addition to his influence in the mountain biking industry, JP notes. One of the key themes to arise in the online conversation has been the ‘stage’ at which the bikers are at in the race. This further supports the trend of participants and viewers live-tweeting the race as it happens. In addition to the stages of the race, individuals are also talking about the ‘riders’, including those such as @nschurter and @philbuys. BrandsEye’s online data has shown that, of the tight community of individuals participating in the online conversation around the Absa Cape Epic, 88.9% of the conversation is taking place on Twitter, and, of the gender information available, 76.6% of authors are male, compared to 23.4% who are female. Could this be an indication only of the online authors, or does it reflect the offline participation by females in the race? Will the online conversation remain consistent until Sunday? How might it change, and what will cause this change? BrandsEye is the Absa Cape Epic’s preferred choice of online monitoring and insights provider. For a summary report of the online conversation across the entire race, keep an eye out for BrandsEye’s findings next week! ABOUT BRANDSEYE BrandsEye is a South African born online monitoring and insights company, founded in 2008 as an independent company, with distribution partners in the UK, Kenya, and South Africa. The tool is the first crowd-supported online monitoring software tool, which tracks, measures and reports online brand conversations for better business
