  1. I'm one of those that just slapped a rigid fork and 2.1 tires on my Hardtail. I don't even have drop bars cause I don't want to buy a new groupo. Only place you suffer more than the others is on the tar IF they decide to make the pace so hot that you can't keep up because you just can't pedal fast enough. You actually better off with the MTB on the gravel on the roads we ride on. Also why are you doing these events? If you have a specific goal in mind that you absolutely need to get every bit of advantage you can get then go buy a top of the range Gravel bike and smash it! Otherwise your Trek is actually perfect. If you have some change put 2.1 tires on (or really worn MTB tires) and if you really want to, get a rigid fork. Spending R5k vs a new bike seems to me like a better deal. Caveat: I do not own a gravel bike and have never ridden one so I can't give an objective answer but hopefully some info here could be useful. Maybe one day I'll buy one, who knows.
  2. Hmmm yeah this is where things get tricky I guess. If you do 100% of your riding on TR I can see that it can be very accurate. But if you can't sync other rides easily (seems like you need a pre set workout?) then things get to a point that the error rate could be too high if you forget or whatever. I use Xert aswell. That does the AI FTP thing and gives you not just FTP but also what you are training for. Like 5min power for example could be more useful to you to monitor depending on what you training for. It's the only thing I feel that is accurate that can combine Any virtual platform ride, outside ride on multiple disciplines (mtb, road, tt, gravel). You don't need a power meter either (on all your bikes) as it can estimate things using your HR and cadence (so need those at least)
  3. Sounds like TrainerRoad has come a long way. I used it long time ago but the went onto Sufferfest and never looked back. The Yoga (yes need to stretch!) and strength routines added to the plans has helped me. I enjoy the Zwift TTTs and the odd races. But this Adaptive Training sounds like it is worth looking into.
  4. Please don't thank them, last thing they need is more encouragement 😂🤪
  5. You mean @Pure Savage chased back haha. Jinne those triathletes got some power!
  6. Feels a little odd not racing against @Pure Savage while in pure savage kit... now I have to race other people as well 🤷‍♂️
  7. Was a bit boxed in but had a leadout man in Garth (planned) that wiggled his way through a gap and I could kick out behind him. A tad late but that was so much fun trying some sort of teamwork that we didn't care where we came.
  8. haha it always gets me when no one cares where you came, just cares about your time. My fastest one was easier than my best result. But groups other than the racing groups can't really use position to measure themselves so time will always be relevant.
  9. Well there goes the plan for trying to break away in the first half...
  10. You might be right, in 2020 I don't think Christiaan won 30-34. I think Jaco Venter won 30-34 with Elite license? I need to be fact checked though
  11. Not doing this as it clashes with XCM SA Champs. Otherwise as a "racer" I loved the previous events even though I needed to compete against teams as an individual. PS: once you get on this mailing list you get all sorts of promotions to events lol
  12. I got 2.78 for Boland Gravel Monster which seems to count. But road races I only have 6.6 for Winelands which seems to be my best one for pure Road and 6.78 for Westcoast Express.
  13. I think (yes think) they put only sub 5 index in $... that said, sub vets races in the $ group, that is their racing group. So if you hold a sub vet racing lic you should be (in my opinion) allowed to race there. If only 3 Sub vets has a seeding of below 5 then who will they race against if no-one else is allowed in! Anyway... being a ballie I don't have these problems anymore so I am in @ 😁
  14. Thank you for thinking I weigh that little after Christmas 😂🤪 EDIT: That said... I'll take it as long as it will stay there even if I start weighing less 😈
  15. 5w/kg FTP please, thanks you the best!
  16. Don't bring back Covid memories 😂
  17. Any tips for guys ridding farm gates?
  18. It's not uncommon for your indoor numbers to be higher than outdoors because you could be sitting on the bike differently... there is an amount of watts sacrificed to rather be in an aero position outside. You don't need any energy put into bike handling, you could potentially be in an airconditioned room etc. Same reasons could be reversed... if you in a very hot garage with no fan your numbers will go down. This cheat however is next level.
  19. The % discrepancy exist in real life too... some guys race with a MTB in gravel races 😂🤣
  20. If you are not doing 450w+ when banner drops you are out the back... it's a different beast. Lots to learn and took me months to get used to "how to"... it's why Pro's can't just jump on there and think they will perform. You need to learn how "the game works". It is a game.
  21. This.... most guys that did the math knew something was up. There are more out there. Don't take Zwift racing too seriously haha... obv UCI level guys do but at least ZADA does their thing.
  22. I’d like to think I’m useful before then 🤣
  23. There’s a spreadsheet? 😳🥺 They must be making plans to try get rid of me before the sisters aren’t they?
