  1. These roads (from what I understand) are big gravel roads and not the small farm roads like at ATP or TB so should drain better. If anything I think it will only be a drizzle at the start so any wetness should be fine. I'm actually doing a rain dance right now... helped us on the result sheet at ATP πŸ€·β€β™‚οΈπŸ€ͺπŸ˜‚
  2. ... realize this is race 2 sun...
  3. β€œVictory after all, I suppose! Well, it seems a very gloomy business.”
  4. It's ruining our race strategy though cause now instead of racing each other to see who is going to be the last 6 standing, we now have to worry about other teams πŸ€¦β€β™‚οΈ

haha, I think there is a difference riding on public, easy accessible roads with a support vehicle following you vs going off into the bundoes where you don't even have cell reception. The DC win was also more worth it πŸ€ͺ
  7. Thanks, now I need to clean the coffee that's all over my keyboard.
  8. Pure Savage is the defending Champs from last year duh... πŸ˜‚πŸ€ͺ

haha, yeah as it stands I won't go. Weather will need to drastically improve for me to even pack. I have prepped my bike and put on a complete old drivetrain, with mud guards and everything. At this point it's not even about the cost. It's about what I enjoy and why I cycle, and "braving this πŸ’© show" is not why do these events. If the rain disappears I will go, even if I know it will be muddy... I think I could still find some enjoyment of doing the event then.

You assume stuff will dry out? The MTB baggies I have is quite good though, won't "soak" or be "heavy"... but the point of it is not to keep me dry, its to keep the wind off my mini me.

I'm going with baggies over the bib and then leg warmers. The nether regions are quiet exposed otherwise yes 🀏

What? Only once in a tent? No wonder I must come with to baby sit you oaks πŸ™ˆ I don't need to suss out the team, its very obvious... although I am trying to figure out who are the biggest idiots in the team... those that don't know what's coming and excited about or those that knows what is coming and still gonna go ahead 😨

To tell people to take a cup of cement when you actually did the event is one thing… but to not have been there and saying the same thing is completely different in my opinion.

Peanut gallery always knows best. If someone that has done every single one said it was the most challenging one he has done, then that says something.
  16. Course looks gravel bike friendly πŸ€ͺ
  17. Sounds like the guys are opting for road cause they are pansies though... throw a little bit of vert in the mix and guys chicken out πŸ€ͺ
  18. Looks like it: https://www.durbiedash.co.za/ But I'm doing it cause it's part of XCM series. I never really race home trails but will give it a go.
  19. He won't drop me... I am doing MTB 🀣πŸ€ͺ
  20. I’ll hold your beer yes πŸ‘

haha, ja look your point of "don't buy something you are not able to maintain" is completely valid. But we are not talking "normal maintenance" here. If you are going to gooi donuts in your Lambo every weekend you are not going to buy the best performance tires every weekend if you are knowingly going to destroy them. But this is an edge case. I used to sail dinghies... same thing applied... do you take you boat out in +25Kts of wind and risk breaking a mast, sails or foils? Or do you sit on the shore and enjoy the show of all the other idiots trying their luck? For 90% of the time the use of the equipment is in normal conditions and worth the buy.

It will be a tailwind all they way πŸ€ͺ😜

Normal running costs are normally not a hinderance I think. It's the unexpected "replace everything" scenario you are knowingly walking into that is the issue.
