  1. Hardtail for the win! Did a recce ride on my HT up there and then was forced to use my dual on race day... if all goes well this year I'll do it with my HT on race day YaY!
  2. I don't remember much of this one. I think I started crying here already... maybe not... maybe it is one of those I choose to not talk about cause its these shorter ones that gets you in the end.
  3. Sho thats a low blow... you saying Captain is more than 100 places from the front?
  4. That really depends. For me I used a 32(oval)x42 combo last time... I suffered. This was on my dual sus which is about 2-3kg heavier than my hardtail. I am going to do it now on my hardtail with a 36(oval)x50(maybe 52) If I had a 50 at the back on the dual last year, with the 32, then it would have been perfect. But again thats just cause that bike is so much heavier. I don't think you can spin out anywhere cause you don't pedal on the downhills anyway so rather go for a climbing combo if you had the choice. (plus 32 is smaller, saves weight )
  5. I recommend everyone goes flat box up this climb as it is the easiest... don't mind me dangling at the back taking it easy
  6. I’m gonna try, but traveling at least one of the days so that will have to count as my rest day.
  7. I have started... but feel like I have a lot of work to do https://www.strava.com/activities/2933621406
  8. At one stage I actually didn't mind the climbs cause flip all that singletrack almost made me more tired! I still remember riding with half the skin off my middle finger (ran out of talent on one of the descends) and trying to do the singletrack when that was burning like hell...
  9. If I dress up as a lady, dies that count?
  10. You have to sneak him in there..
  11. Next time... Come join us on the Repeat
  12. I heard stories... I am taking my dual
  13. I'll be doing a family ride with Tyron this weekend so won't be holding on to you guys this time round... we all know the real race is actually next weekend when milky and I will give it a go
  14. This completely depends on if you did the Argus on a MTB and if you did it with knobblies...
  15. That sounds like a fun day out... (said no one ever )
  16. I'm not sure I will feel safe using confident, race and 36One in the same sentence so best to play it safe then
  17. It did, but I kind of felt I was over cautious. Started too slow and finished "too strong" (if there is such a thing). But yes that recipe I know works, so should probably stick to it.
  18. I did the 8 hour MTB challenge yesterday in prep for this event. Man I am glad I did as it reminded me what happens when you start too fast That is one of my biggest weaknesses... starting too fast... So I am at a cross roads: 1. Race it, start fast and be first at CP1 2. Start slow and finish strong The temptation of being CP1 Champion is just soooo attractive though
  19. According to my file from last year these two are wrong: WP6-7 36 252.5 21hrs WP7-8 12 264.5 23hrs Should be distances 242km and 254km... 252 is half way up the mountain already and 264 is halfway down the other side All the others match though. Anyone else see this on their ride maybe?
  20. The WP at top of Rooiberg was a "popup" last year and now it is official. Wonder if they might just have a "popup" halfway to WP 1 then with just bare minimum (water) Normally the WP's the list is fully stocked... I'm just guessing but would make sense.
  21. Was 8th last year so I hope I have the legs this year to do something similar... as long as there isn't another Savage racing I will be fine... you know us, we race each other and then I will only last till the first water point.
  22. My first time was a disaster, so after mental recovery I went for it a second time as I had a score to settle... no idea why I am going back a 3rd time
