  1. Camber is a great bike for sure. They are very similar in price to the epic, when comparing the same spec levels. Biggest difference is the brain suspension. Now, deciding if you like the brain or not, thats a whole different story.
  2. They look awsome. Very nice indeed.
  3. Dont currently have a Camber, but had one before my epic. sold it and bought the Epic, but I miss the Camber soooo much. I have a Stumpjumper HT, but I really dont like it. Its my wet weather bike, but its twitchy and with only 80mm of travel, you have to be very carefull when going downhill. Bottoms out very easily and then you go over the bars
  4. I have the Epic marathon carbon, but the Camber is a really nice play bike. Epic for racing, camber to play.
  5. Yeah, that was established a while ago.
  6. Thanks dude. Interesting the s-works frameset has the normal fork, but complete bike has the sid. Same with the stumpy ht. think they might sell more frames than s works bikes this year. I have my eye on the camber s works carbon. Want it bad.
  7. All good and well. But I think with your fitness, a R50k bike would gain you several positions. But big respect to you for riding that bike to such a position.
  8. I understand what you are saying. But getting from A to B was never, and will never be my goal in cycling. I have a 26 inch Giant Revel3 bike in my garage. It weighs 15kg, so whenever I feel my current bike is not good enough, I climb on the Giant and ride 2km down the road, cramp up, throw up, pass out, and then go back home and polish and lube my other bikes.
  9. I am sorry, but when I throw my leg over a Titan or Merida, there is absolutely no excitement. Now, a top end S-works or Rocky Mountain rsl etc, makes tingle in the right places.
  10. Have to agree with you. I love a Ferrari, most of them, absolutely hate the look of a Porsche, love the R8, hate the Mcclaren mp12. You get the point, same with bikes, I really dont like the look of the Giant anthem, but it rides nice enough, like the look of the Scott, hate the ride. So ja, dont brand bash. find what works in your budget. I like the fact that I can have Spez shoes, and helmet and bibs and gloves etc etc. Others I know hate that. Looking forward to my 67 minutes of endorphins for orphans race tomorrow, rocking baggies and my Stumpy HT, gonna be wet wet wet. Enjoy the weekend guys.
  11. I know you are not the biggest Spez fan, and love to bash them. But their pricing is not soo bad. S works is another level. I recently wanted to buy a new trail bike. Loved the new Trek fuel, price was R 62 000, best one I could find. Mix of slx and xt parts, Alu rims. Eventually bought the Specialized Stumpy fsr, R 58 000, carbon crank, xo groupset, carbon rims, and comes with the brain suspension. Also looked at Rocky mountain, crazy expensive, and considered a Tallboy LT, need a Bee tender to buy that one. Bikes are just generally waaaay to pricey.
  12. New price on a 2014 was R106 999 to be exact. any bike shop would at least give 10 percent discount on that. If your bike shop really loves you 15 percent. So that price is spot on.
  13. They will sell every single one they bring into this country, even if they charge R150 000.
  14. I would not buy a s works Epic, for one reason. If I show up at a race with a Epic S works, people will expect me to be competitive, which I am not. Even I dont understand these old fatties on S works epics. I have the version just below, the Marathon carbon. Also attracts less skelms. Now, S works Camber, S works Stumpjumper fsr and S works Enduro I would have in a heartbeat. They are the sexiest, best bikes money can buy.
  15. Apologies. Tallboy, not Santa Cruz.
  16. Thats what the s works is designed for. So yes. If you have the talent to win, this is one of the bikes to have. As for the Tallboy vs epic debate, they are different bikes. Tallboy was never intended as a race bike, so pointless comparing them. Thats all.
  17. Tallboy, not Santa Cruz. He was mentioning the Tallboy. Please infform me when have you seen a Tallboy on the podium in any xc race.
  18. Eating hospital food is also much more likely.
  19. Going off topic here dude. This is not a Santa Cruz vs debate. R35k for a frame without a fork is not exactly cheap. Then when considering Santa Cruz wont win you any races, it makes even less sense. Go enjoy your niche brand, boutique bike, it is a lovely machine. Honestly. They have no racing heritage, so you are not comparing apples to apples.
  20. I have seen them at plenty events in Cape Town. Can help you with small niggles, but ja, if you crack frame, I think you are screwed.
  21. They are still available with the normal SID with brain, even in S works trim.
  22. Did it last year. Awsome route, very beautifull, and pretty tough. But if its wet, stay away. Last year some parts of the route were washed away by rains and it was extremely tough just to finish the race. Hope its dry this year.
  23. Wear them, and love them. Have the fox Ranger baggies. Wear them on all my training rides, and I ride a Spez Epic. Still race with bibs, but prefer the baggies, especially when going for breakfast or coffee after a ride. Wear them with cycling jersey, dont like floppy jerseys. Most riders abroad, US and Uk that ride mtb wear baggies, in SA we have a XC culture, and tend to wear what the pros wear. But let me tell you, baggies are really the "big thing" at this stage in SA. Even seeing some pro riders riding baggies.
  24. Awsome guys, thank you. I am def racing. See you there.
