  1. Skipping aswell. I am still broke from the last wet race in Wellington. Mtb is not for sissies I know, broken bike repairs bills are not for sissies either. Enjoy folks.
  2. I loved the camber, but somehow it felt big. Dont quite know how to explain it, but in tight corners I felt it was long and big. I dont get that feeling with the Epic. also the camber does not have the brain. My Epic is running Specialized ground control tyres, 2.3 front and 2.1 rear. Working extremely well I must add.
  3. That means you would have to ride more than 6 hours every day for 365 days a year. Well done dude, congrats .
  4. My other bike is a Stumpjumper Hard tail, carbon. Hard and fast and 90mm travel. Has its place, mainly serving as my wet race bike. Extremely light, less maintenance and scary fast. Owned a 110mm Camber for 18 months, also carbon, 110mm travel. I have ridden every bike in the Spez range, ridden a Vipa, loads of Giants, I hate the meastro suspension. I race every single race on the calendar. Also frequent Paarl mountain, Jonkers and Dirtopia. My absolute favourite is the Epic, not anything below 2014 models, they were scary. I love love love the brain. Edit. Not saying the Epic is better than the vipa, I just love the brain. Dont care about preceived perceptions about maintenance etc, I work to ride, my bikes are my kids, so any money spent on them is no issue.
  5. Since you have had your Vipa a while now, how is the 80mm rear travel. My Epic is at 100mm and with the brain setup right I can take on terrain which would normally require longer travel bikes. With better tyres obviously, the std Epic tyres are the worst thing on this planet. With 80mm travel I feel it is just as racy as the Epic if not more.
  6. Can us mere mortals also buy the white frame?
  7. I do like them for sure.
  8. Seriously. Come visit our side of the boerewors curtain. Remember there are many many more shops that sell Momsen than Spez. Very popular bikes.
  9. I am no expert on geometry. But the 2014 Epics are def a little bit more comfortable than the 2013. Thats why they have the standard and more racy World Cup versions in 2014. In 2013 I rather bought the Camber because it was more relaxed. But when I rode the 2014 Epic I was sold. That being said, Vipa is superb, but for R60 000 you can get a Epic with carbon wheels and xo groupset, where for R50 000 you get a Vipa with xt. Being a xo fan my choice is easy. Vipas are also becoming very very popular, seeing just as many of them if not more than Spez Epics these days.
  10. Thanks dude, thats my coffee all over my keyboard. I am still laughing.
  11. I take it your Monday morning did not go so well.
  12. I rode a Anthem 650B, did not like it at all. But I will give the new Spez 650b bikes a test drive for sure. But I cant see myself buying one.
  13. Eish, so little info. And so late. Next year please advertise before the time.
  14. I understand why, its to miss all the traffic. Loads of people going to wacky wine. Makes sense.
  15. dude has no clue what he is missing.
  16. It is only going to get worse. Unfortunately cycling is becoming too popular. And like many things in life, us normal okes get left behind. Very sad.
  17. This is quite a serious issue. Maybe leave your immature comments for something less serious. I love Jonkers, its truly special.
  18. I bought the marathon. World cup is sold out. Also has 90mm travel instead of 100mm in the normal epic. Marathon also has the swat and two cages included. Much much better.
  19. Def only one. I havent been able to walk since getting off my bike this morning.
  20. mmmm, I would also be pissed if I were Lewis. But i would not act the way he did. I am a big fan of his, but he needs to grow up a little bit more.
  21. Get the 200, 500 is not worth the xstra cash. Garmin is waaaaaay better than a phone. Battery wise and size wise, and crooks trying to steal your **** wise.
  22. Hey, upon further investigation, it seems a relationship has gone sour. seems they rented out Specialized bikes untill recently, and were also affiliated with Songo.info, which is also a Spez project. Something fishy for sure. http://www.eikestadnuus.co.za/62831/news-details/ride-in-at-jonkershoek
  23. that cafe looks really cool. Wil def go have a ride at Jonkers this weekend and a bite to eat at the cafe. see what the fuss is about.
