  1. Are one of the screens map mode? I.e. viewing a route in guidance mode?
  2. Hi... What are some of the best 20 minute to 40 minute cycling videos to watch? Want to download some for when I'm on the plane travelling... Ive already got Unreal, Shifted and Pure Darkness 3
  3. #scottsportsafrica #bikehubber #maxxistyresSA My favourite Rear Tyre, the Maxxis Ikon 29x2.2 EXO TR. Racy and Strong. But, after having done 2500km this year, its probably gonna wear soon. So please can I WIN?
  4. Ya, the whole sweating after the shower thing... My face pours for a while after the shower. So, I actually have a relatively cold shower, and then make sure I stand in front of the fan whilst getting dressed.
  5. I'm also one of the few JHB commuters All in all, Strava tells me I've done 2411km this year so far. Like Cat-I, I do Randburg to Sandton. Also, have only been caught in one storm, but after looking at the traffic and robots during that storm, I was very glad to be soaked on my bike. My colleagues who used their cars took more than 1.5 hours to get home that day.
  6. Yup... sweating loads is a sign you had a good ride, but then you also need a good shower... You can get yourself a fancy quick-dry towel thingy from a sportsmans warehouse or such http://www.sportsmanswarehouse.co.za/product/sea-to-summit-dry-lite-towel-large. Soak it in the basin when you get to work. Freshen up in the cubicle. Use plenty anti-perspirant. And then dont forget to wash the towel (with soap) after you have dressed, and hang it up somewhere. Take it home on the weekend for a machine wash. That is what others say works ok. I am lucky to have showers at work...
  7. Thanks, sorry I was probably quite strong in my choice of words about the music. Apologies if it was offensive. i don't have the skill to make videos like that, so I should rather appreciate the positive work which goes into something like this.
  8. Nicely shot video. crap music almost ruined it however, but I'm probably being pedantic
  9. Hi all Sorry, I havent been particularly diligent at keeping up to date with this thread, so please excuse me if this has been discussed... My boy is now just over two. but he is a big, tall boy (95cm) who is very 'daring' on his plastic bike (normal three wheeled plastic bike from Westpack), but seeming to get a little bored on it unless he is going down a steep hill or riding on a thin line of bricks (i.e. the wall). Yesterday, he tried out a friend's Y-Bike, and seemed to enjoy it quite a bit (although he already looks a bit big for the Y-Bike). Is he too young to start with a balance bike, like a 'Strider'? Or should I be spending the money on such...
  10. What happened to this competition?
  11. Excellent report through beautiful photography. Congrats, looks really special.
  12. Not sure if it's been mentioned. But the Grotto and Trilby trails at All out Adventures are also supreme. Northern Drakensberg Sent from my D5803 using Tapatalk

  14. Wow that looks incredible... damn you Cape, you so far away
  15. Hey. Onza Canis vs Maxxis ikon? Opinions?
  16. Hi all. I think my rear Geax Saguaro is close to, or already kaput, with a sidewall puncture. Question is, if the bikeshop cant revive the Saguaro, I am looking at replacing it with one of the following: Maxxis Crossmark (29x 2.1) LUST- old tyre with okayish tread and life still in it Maxxis Ikon(29 x 2.2) - 3C/EXO/TR - brand new R570 Onza Canis (29 x 2.25) - brand new R640 With this bike, I do some trail riding and commuting to work on sidepaths. So nothing insanely technical or rocky, but I do want the tyre to hold up well, maintain its tread for a reasonable period, handle itself sufficiently well on moderately technical trails, and not be super heavy. What ya think?

  18. ya thanks for the advice, he's going in to try out some demo saddles if the bike shop doesnt have an assometer.
  19. Restarting the thread... my brother wears a size 32 pants (relatively slightly built)... would a 143 mm saddle prove too wide, for those 32 sized men out there? Want to get him a Specialized Henge 143 saddle... (in my experience, the most comfortable). he is a relatively new to cycling
  20. Thanks for the advice. I am not starting this too young am I? at 11 months old? Obviously won't be crushing the single track or anything with him on the bike, just want to take him for casual rides.
  21. Just checking for some advice?
  22. Hi all. Completely new to this thread. My lightie is 11 months old and I want to start taking him on my bike carrier. I got this ( pic attached) from a friend who just gave it to me. Is this the only piece? Or am I missing any support pieces/struts etc? I assume it just clamps onto the seatpost...
  23. All Out Adventures is definitely one of the most beautiful trails I have had the pleasure of riding! The Trilby and Grotto Trail especially...
  24. Wow, what a comeback...
  25. Ya there are also a couple of forestry roads between the Mbazwana shopping complex (I'm being generous here) and Lake Sibaya on which you can get good, decent mileage without having to traverse hectically thick beach sand. When travelling back to Mbazwana Spar from the beach, instead of swinging a left to the spar at Jock Morrison, carry on going straight past the "clinic" and the liquor store and you'll arrive at a stop street. Turn right at that stop street and thats the beginning of the forestry roads.
