  1. Stage one of the Absa Cape Epic was whirlwind of weather and breakdowns. The mud played a huge part in performance of both riders and their equipment. Check out some of the highlights. Click here to view the article
  2. Not the best way to start the Absa Cape Epic, with a crash. And going down stairs, no less, at the very beginning. Well, it can only get better from here. Hopefully. Click here to view the article
  3. Richard Murray had to wait four years, but on Sunday he finally won his first South African Senior Triathlon title when he was victorious at the SA National Triathlon Championships in East London. Click here to view the article
  4. “Hot feet” and “Numb Toes” are a common condition faced by most cyclists, often related to cleat position and/or equipment choice. This article aims to highlight the different aspects of cleat and foot positioning, their effects on power transfer as well as difficulty in maintaining efficiency through the pedal stroke. 5. I got mine from Trail and Tar. They had a few left there not long ago...
  6. There are a number of companies that are making range extenders for cassettes. Hope just released theirs http://dirtmountainbike.com/featured/new-hope-40t-rex-sprocket-retainer-ring-and-35mm-am-stem.html and there's this new cassette from Response too http://dirtmountainbike.com/dirt100-2014/dirt-100-2014-response-11-40t-10-speed-cassette.html I'm going to be looking at a Hope conversion soon, as I'm currently running a Race Face 32T narrow/wide up front with a 11-36T cassette
  7. We caught up with Victor Momsen of Momsen Bikes at the Argus Expo and had a nice chat with him on our couch. There's some interesting movement happening in PE with Momsen, mostly concerning carbon fibre production. Check it out below. Click here to view the article
  8. Haha, yes. Yes you deserve one. And you will get one! I'll be featuring what I got and my build soon. Some of you guys came by The Hub stand at the Argus Expo and saw my unfinished ride, for those who didn't, I managed to find something that didn't actually fit most of the requirements that I set out originally. It's carbon, it's white and its less than 140mm... But still 26". More to come
  9. Thanks for that. It is Monday after all.
  10. Excited for this year's UCI MTB World Cup season? We are too. Check out a preview of what is in store for this year, with, of course, Pietermaritzburg as the opening round from 10-13 April 2014. Click here to view the article
  11. Sorry, to clarify exactly, the previous Photos of the Day will not be eligible to win Photo of the Month after voting has been completed for that month. Also, any photos that have been submitted that have not been chosen for Photo of the Day are still eligible to be selected despite not necessarily being selected during the month that they were submitted. I hope this makes sense?
  12. Each month will be a clean slate, but all the photos that have been submitted are eligible to win Photo of the Day, besides those that have been previously selected.
  13. The winner of our first Photo of the Day competition has been announced. Click here to view the article
  14. Well, it all comes down to personal preference. I didn't like the bar and stem combo, and I like more engagement points in the freebody, but others might not even notice. In terms of value for money, you're getting a great frame with an awesome drivetrain. Most of the time people will buy a bike just for these things and change out the components that are usually a rider's personal preference.
  15. Now hopefully this week I can get a chance to feel that magic!
  16. Some goodies around the Expo. These are some gems at the Momsen stand. New carbon 90mm Momsen stem Electronic Fox shocks New chainstays specific for single chainring Vipa's. They will be available as aftermarket or as an option new. Ridiculously light carbon Stans ZTR Valor wheels, apparently 1180g for the pair. Momsen's new partner in wheels, Arisun, a 120tpi variant of the tyre specially made for Momsen.
  17. Actually it climbed really well, just descended better. Think it was probably the baggies that did that. I refuse lycra at every turn.
  18. With all the hype surrounding a certain large company's suspension design and reasonable pricing, I was excited to get behind the bars of one of their offerings. When Dragon Sports offered me a Trance to test I obviously jumped at the opportunity. But two days before I was due to pick up the bike, I was told that the Trance was unavailable. 19. What?! Where? That's why it's in progress, and not a new build. Keen to come by and sponsor the finishing touches?
  20. My new build in progress sitting comfortably.
