  1. But to add to the list. Definitely think about the new 2020 Trek Fuel Ex. Geo is not as modern as Optic but it rode flippen lekker (when compared to my fuel ex 2018, way more capable and stable)!
  2. (probably will get Internet shamed now) Only issue I have with it is it is only available in plastic models. Call me old fashioned and such, but I like metal. I am not the guy who is going to get the 1% advantage of carbon. I want value for money. I'd rather have allu frame with higher spec than plastic with low spec) (Go see the new Sight A1 vs the Sight C3. C3 is a little more expensive but spec is **** compared to A1)
  3. When servicing a Bontrager line dropper: The bottom assembly that locks unto the cartridge shaft, has 2 holes in it. Make sure they dont end up filling with grease, as this will cause a vacuum when the post extends causing it not to extend to full position... Caused me buying a new catridge only to find it did not help. Then saw the two holes... Loads of swearing later, cleaned the assembly and all was good again... #facepalm
  4. Great you found the (correct) thread! Have you consulted a Dietician upon moving over to veganism? Very helpfull as they can assist and make sure you get all your micro nutrients as well.
  5. Mate I am sorry but you purposefully posted your comments on this thread to get this reaction. No defending it. WHY ELSE would you post this in a thread about being your own home mechanic when there are loads of threads dedicated to dicussing dietary choices/lifestyles. PLEASE GET OFF MY THREAD. Sincerely, THE OP! Stop being a troll, be cool guy, nobody enjoys a troll.
  6. Also to those that entered. Please pay attention to where Harry says: Some more tips from a timing marshall's perspective: If you wear a long sleeve jersey make sure the watch is over the sleeve. As it can sometimes cause interference. Its not our jobs as marshalls to chase after you if you overshot us by 5m at the end. We give you enough room to slow down at the end (use front brake and hang over rear wheel/endo it in/what ever just stop by us.)KEEP YOU HAND ON THE HANDLEBAR PLEASE!!!!Another thing, stop yapping that some of us take forever to time you out. Sometimes it is instant, other times it takes a second or two but KEEP YOU HAND ON THE HANDLEBAR PLEASE!!!!
  7. Listen to HARRY. LISTEN! Its like asking google if that infection is really that bad when your docter tells you its time to go to hospital or lose a limb.
  8. Honestly I dont think you can go wrong with either 6/7 in both Strive/Spectral I'd go for the Spectral, simply because I play more than I race and when I do race I am in it for the fun and don't want to (nor will I achieve it) stand on the top step. Consider reading this Edit: Removed useless info. Added my 10c instead. Broken link
  9. So HeadAngle would decrease by roughly 1deg per 20mm (not accurate) SeatTube Angle will slacken (climbing may suffer) BB height will increase, BB drop will decrease. Honestly i think you will be fine if you put a 120mm fork in. Would not go past that though as then you will have too much party in the front.
  10. Before i switched to lock on grips I used windowlene or Isopropyl Alcohol Cleaner or Methylated spirits
  11. I got my stuff in literally less that 24 hours. What more is there to say.
  12. Repect to all the LBS mechanics. You have skills. Shout out to you guys. Unsung heroes. Now to the topic: 1. Sram 12sp Power links do not work with KMC 12sp chains. The fit is too tight causing the chain to jump. One hell of a bugger to remove said powerlink. Just get a chain breaker and destroy powerlink and hope it did not crush the roller to bad. Might get you out of a pinch if you are out on a trail, but else use the correct connector. Why are KMC 12sp missing links so damn hard to find?!?! (please DM me if you know who has stock) 2. Always keep the cut off chain when you cut your chain to size. Incase you, 1 either loose a roller when the chain is removed and cleaned or, 2 in case of the above where you crushed the roller. 3. Reuse old chains to replace the chain on the chain whip. I have found that the default chains that come on whips do not work well on 12sp cassettes. Have acutally found them bending the teeth.
  13. Where do you guys suggest I go then for eduro focussed setup in CT? My shops close by are biased toward Tri/Road/XC (this is my opinion/a--hole)
  14. FYI, there are a few shops around CT that have(or at least in the past had) demo saddle fleets from which you could book, pay a deposit and try before you buy. Not a new concept There always has to be that one guy who has to share his a--hole, o sorry meant his opinion on a forum thread where they have nothing constructive to add
  15. Currently have a 40mm stem on there so can't go much shorter here. Perhaps my innitial post should've had more detail. My main issue I am trying to adress is that I feel as though my cockpit is too low when out of the saddle. Not sure about more spacers under stem as there is about +-5mm between end of steerer and top of stem. Dont know why Trek decided to cut the steerer so short on a L bike, but think this is a problem most bike companies create by pre cutting the steerer to a set length for bike size. Tring to find a short stem (max 50mm) with more than 0degree rise is like hens teeth, should you own a trek with knock block...
  16. Currently have the stock bars on my bike (35mm dia, 750mm width, 15mm rise) Wating to experiement with different widths and rises does anybody know of a shop/brand that has "demo" products to test with. Don't want to fork out the cash simply just to not use it in the end and have to sell it as a loss.
  17. Speak of the devil and https://www.pinkbike.com/news/alchemy-bikes-launches-29275-mullet-bike.html
  18. Personally I feel indifferent to the mixed wheel sizes. I think its a case of rider to bike fit. I am a 29er rider, will probably allways will be. As a tall bloke the 29er fits me well. That being said I have only very limited experience riding 650b so can't call myself an expert. I think this will have more to do with the rider, his/her rideing style and the type of trail he/she rides most often.
  19. With all the mullet bike stuff hitting the net/forums here is something interesting
  20. They send an email with all the details sometime the week before the race
  21. Anybody else notice that with all the fancy pedals the enduro pro's use our man of the hour Eddie was running some Shimano DX's. Well I am now more certain than ever that the DX is probably the best ever produced by shimano.
  22. I use normal car wash soap that contains polish to wash my bike. (Rally makes a nice one. Buy a jug of 5l. Then I use car polish to polish the frame (the thick kind not the thin liquid) For "treating" bolts I'll use normal furniture polish. As I only want a small protective coating to clear the water not a penetrating lube.
