  1. OK count me in for sure!
  2. If I dont have a heavy night on friday night, I'll join ;-)
  3. Dont do more than 2 of these sessions per week...quality not quantity. Recovery is even more important than the training.
  4. Dude, I did the route again today...the last kilometer before the tar will be hell on a road bike. I got tyres with a lighter tread and pumped them to over 5 bars and that last km was hell...road bike will be a nightmare...loose gravel stones and rocks!
  5. I felt so sorry for Arnold and Malcolm doing commentary...they were like "what the hell is going on..." What a screw up...we missed what looked like an action packed fight to the finish...nice job supersport.
  6. I love riding to work....it has to be during peak hours .. It is dark in the morning when I leave home... I am lit up like a christmas tree ...3 lights + hiVis jacket.... and you reckon I have no commen sense ????? Again, I guess a difference in opinions, I did some early morning training sessions in the summer and when it gets to 6:30/7am traffic gets so hectic that a) my session is interupted to a point where I cant accomplish my goals and b) the shear activity scared the **** outta me... e.g. taxis stopping, car doors opening, frantic changing of lanes etc. This scares me, if it doesn't scare you then I see no reason why you shouldn't cycle at these times. I'm sure you are very intelligent...clearly you are doing what you can to reduce the risks of the road, but in my view you are still rolling the dice a bit(which I guess we all do when we get on our bikes, anytime). Let me just say I think you're very brave...I wont go on the roads at that time unless I'm desperate.
  7. We shud all start a book club Why not a cycling club? Who cares what club it is...Morpheus is bringing booze
  8. We shud all start a book club
  9. Wow that's just around the corner from me. It's far to dangerous to be cycling in peak hour traffic...it's insane. We need to display common sense before we can point fingers at motorists.
  10. Ok, I have a bike and some equipment for sale
  11. You know what? the wind blew again. Is that the worst thing that can happen...Yes my time goal was also shot to pieces, but there is more to the argus than time...firstly an improvement in overall position can still be compared as everybody is ridin in the wind. Secondly, you should draw enjoyment from passing other backmarkers and slower riders. Next year if you get a better seeding you wont have that problem. This is my second argus, 2009 and 2010, but I'm not complaining...I find it hilarious how since I've started we've had the 2 most windiest arguses in history. Just suck it up and enjoy the day!
  12. I got a blackburn delphi(R300), I'm not a serious MTBer so didnt want to spend money...it works like a charm tho
  13. I'd say 120km+ = long distance, great for building base during off/pre season. These rides are usually not done at race pace, but at a comfortable speed...trains your body to use fat as a fuel source...very important.
  14. Yikes that was my group, I guess luckily I was held up at the start by people getting off their bikes and walking through the 'wind corridor' and initially lost the front end of that grp...sounds like a blessing in a way. Glad to hear you're alright.
  15. Perhaps scooter ran outta petrol If I rode the argus on a scooter, I wouldn't need to take short cuts...pretty sure I could win it on a scooter
  16. Wind last year? What wind?
  17. This is what we need...a household name to endorse the campaign. Shaun...you are doing something about the situation, good on you.
  18. Does anyone know what the email address for the supercycling show is? Somebody needs to send them a mail so they can mention the request about the armbands and the cause. I would do it but not sure on the address is it info@supercycling.co.za?

  20. I wish i was as good looking as Bob...he cud eat a bit more and visit the gym a bit tho!
  21. a TAXI sent me flying onto the pavement ealier this season. I'm in...will encourage my friends to do the same!
  22. At signal hill, first rider off at 9:30 at 1 minute intervals
  23. With these temperatures we've been havin, a south easter may not be such a bad thing
  24. Virgo...the tyres you need are called 'Serfas Seca' folding tyres. They have a flat protection system, they have excellent grip with a softer compound on the side for grip when taking corners, they only weight 215g and can be pumped to 9 bars which means less rolling resistence. And they're only R230 each at CWC. http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/serfas-seca-rs-folding-road-tyre-2010 I sound like a salesman, but I bought them and love them. You wont regret it. Read the reviews at bikereview.com, the best set of reviews I've ever read. Forget gatorskins...they are heavier and more costly and I you still get punctures with gators. I'm sure you will eventually get punctures with these...but I haven't had 1 yet, been using em for a few months now.
