  1. Was serviced after Trans Baviaans last year by RBC. Only done about 1500km since then.
  2. Thanks, I’ll give that a try.
  3. I have RS Sid Select 35 which makes a weird clicking sound. It occurs after the at the top of the compression stroke after the rebound has pushed the fork to the top, if that makes sense? Anyone have a similar issue or know what the issue could be?
  4. Your can also try Cycles United Services in Northriding. Used to take mine in there.
  5. Rode there 2 weekends ago, also found it very pleasant to ride. Would definately be nice once it's up and running properly. Like if the old golf club house is utilized and you could sit and have a juice or something of the sorts either before or after a ride. Some nice climbs on the route offering great views of JHB and the surrounds also great bird life. Saw a Long Crested Eagle and African Harrier Hawk. One or two route markings need to be sorted but I'll head back for sure, as it's pretty close to home for me. And it should also be pretty safe to ride, unless the inmates need and escape ride. LOL
  6. Just another shout out to the people at Lyne Components for awesome service. Order place yesterday and confirmation mail sent at 09:30, waybill number sent through at 11, parcel delivered to the office in JHB at 08:30. Absolutely fantastic service.
  7. So just to further blow some trumpets. I've been eyeballing bikes for a while and stock being low all around the bike I was looking for was like looking for hens teeth. I read the forum on Monday about the GMC service. So Tuesday morning I pop a mail through to them, get a reply Tuesday morning. They have the bike and spec I'm interested in but there's someone else also interested in it. They will find out if the other party is still interested and get back to me. Tuesday, lunchtime they get back to me, the bike is available. A couple of mail back and forth with some other details needed. End of the story is that it's been invoiced, paid for and will be shipped today. So thanks to Bundu Ric for posting about the good service and thanks to GMC for awesome service! So all in all very happy camper.
  8. I have SRAM shifter with XT brakes, got this item from Amazon. Works same as the Wolftooth. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07LDLVSVP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
  9. Cycle Gallery in Bryanston or Cycles United in Northriding.
  10. Just a shout out for some awesome service to Ruan at Lyne Components for organising rims for me. So far so good. Then to Jacques at Cycle Gallery in Bryanston for getting the wheels tensioned and trued in a jiffy.
  11. Yeah I think that is what it is going to come to. Not like I use the lock-out much anyway.
  12. Cheers, thanks for the feedback.
  13. Hi guys, Just wondering if anyone has taken the Rockshox xloc full sprint remote(Dual lock out) and plugged it to use as a single lockout remote? I have a Scalpel Si3 and am thinking about ditching the Monarch XX for a Fox. But can I then just pop a grub screw in where the rear hose went into the remote, to seal it? I realise that I might have to re-bleed the unit so that the lever can still lockout for the front. Any Ideas, beside having to buy a single lockout remote.
  14. Riding a Scalpel Si 3 2017 model. Might just have to setup the gopro on brackets and clamps to have a look to see whats going on.
  15. Slightly off topic chaps.....so I was looking at the same scenario. Xmas came and with it a voucher which I used to get the NX upgrade kit. I've installed and and am happy with it. To be honest I find the shifting, pretty smooth and silent and the lever action lighter than my previous XTR setup. This could be due to my immense strength build from "playstation/xbox thumbs" However has anyone had any issues with "trail chatter" from the rear derailleur? I find that over bumpy sections the derailleur is quite noisy. Would this be because there is no "lock out" clutch?
  16. Dear hub diary(tongue in cheek) I greet because it’s polite and it doesn’t cost me anything, regardless of who I pass, and I don’t expect anything in return. Sometimes people are having a bad day and just don’t feel like it. Also there is the chance that should something happen to me, the person that I greeted might be the one that I have to ask for assistance. Now I’m sure that that person would be more inclined to help a friendly cyclist than the box that raced past trying to get a pr.
  17. If you don't com right I have a pair of Sora STI's that you can have. You'll just need to collect.
  18. Thanks for the reply. Okay, no "golden knob"(chuckling to self) on the remote lockout lever. There's the rebound knob which is set neutral, between the rabbit and tortoise. As for the pressure it's already 100psi. According to the setup instructions the psi should be equivalent to my weight in lbs, which should be 185lbs.
  19. Hi Guys I have the above shock on a Scalpel Si 3 and am having issues with it. I weight 85kg, have the shock pumped 100psi and the sag is only sitting at 20% When doing a Spruit ride it feels pretty much like a hard tail. I've had the lockout re-bled(as I've heard there are some issues with the xloc remote). Prior to having 100hr service it was smooth and "plush", which was awesome. Just not sure what the problem could be? Any suggestions?
  20. Quick question. Is there or was there a race registration or is that done tomorrow morning at VG? What race boards/numbers do we bring along? R300 isn't too much to ask, water points and being able to ride in a sizable field where you don't have to worry too much about safety. Beats trying to get 95-100km in on a ride, on your own or in a small group, and having to worry about the safety issue.
  21. The worst is when seeing adults and young kids all not wearing helmets. If as a grown up you think you tough enough so be it, but at least make your kids wear helmets. (Saw this on the Spruit this holiday on a number of occasions.) The problem is not to "Let them be, because they not your problem", because what happens if you come across them after having a serious accident? Do you just ride past and let it be or do you stop and assist?
  22. I'm also a regular rider on the Spruit on my own. This might explain why it was so quiet yesterday afternoon. Ridiculous to think that we should now come and check in here to see if there has been an attack or not before we go riding. All the best to the lady with her recovery, undoubtly going to be a lengthy process. If beaches have "Shark spotters" perhaps the Spruit should have "Thug spotters"?
  23. Thanks for the replies chaps. Bike buying and building these days is pretty tough going with so many options available. Will have to browse the shops to have a touchy feely of the products too.
  24. I currently have a Booth carbon 29er with a 100mm SID fork(could possibly appear in the classifieds sometime soon), also has 100mm rear travel. I'm not looking for a serious trail bike nor a xc bike. Want something which fits in between so in the lines of 120mm front and rear. I'm definitely not a race snake. If I go for the SC it would be a frame and I'd strip components. Just having an itch to get/build a new bike.
  25. Morning Peeps I'm in the market to upgrade my ride. Narrowed things down to a Santa Cruz Tallboy 2/3 or a 2017 Spez Camber Carbon Comp. A third option would be the new Scott Spark 930 carbon, when they arrive. So budget of abut R60k. I recently had the Spez test bike. It was good, but not good enough to say that I'm not going to even bother with other bikes and fork out the money. Does anyone know if SC test bikes are available to ride in JHB? I know Mikes Bikes stocks SC so will need to phone them to check. Questions then to SC owners. We all know and read that the reviews of them are good. If you bought one did you manage to test ride it or was it bought purely on the reviews of mags and fellow riders. If you bought the frame only and build it up, was it again purely based on reviews or did you actually ride one. Really hard to decide to spend between R30-50k on a frame only to find that it's not quite as awesome as everyone says it is. The other things is, would a 100mm fork be out of place on the TB? Let's face it with the prices of bikes these days competing with small cars it really makes sense to ride before you buy not? Tough first world problems.
