  1. Slowbee, Pappa Bear is on the money. If you look on the side between triggers there should be what looks like a large philips head plastic screw. Take that out and push the cable towards the shifter and the leaded end should pop on the hole. Push new cable back into the same place and hey presto!!!
  2. Hey Jules, just PM'ed you the process. There is lots of detail in there, but its a step by step and should be really easy to do. No circlips to the Crossride wheels, its a bit more simple and (cheap)er than that. If anyone else needs the process let me know and I will publish how I do it. My wheels seem to work fine and they are lasting better than I expected - the process is also backed by a mechanic mate of mine. No guarantees though unless payment in beer is involved... (Windhoek please)
  3. He hehe, Single speed is becoming super low tech with cable brakes and hopefully a paint job... And the Formula's are ging towards a nice shiny blue On One 456 3 speed monster - in time of course, in time. Bike for Junior to ride with that big Manitou fork so he doesn't pop my fox
  4. I have the option to buy a second hand set of Avid BB5's (the cable operated disc brake) aimed at being used on a low maintenance bike. on CRC they are around R500 new.... SO, what you hubbers rate as being a decent price for a second hand pair in good nick (i know there history well...) Shot
  5. 484, besides riding alone on a mtb being a security issue its a medical issue...what happens when you fall over and damage yourself? Anyways, MTB'ers are a cultured bunch. We drink beer, talk ***, love getting filthy and will stop to help a cyclist in need. Most of all, we like getting dirty
  6. Getting X-9 set today and have been riding XT for years....will keep you posted!
  7. Tool! Thanks for the reminder... Yebo, lets hit some singletrack tomorrow - less muddy than yesterday maybe. "Magic dirt" if we are lucky...
  8. Sorry bro, still stuck at graft...even though we been given the day off. Tomorrow we put in a good one. Laters
  9. Ok ouen's - Sunday morning at 9am at Eden for a bit of a jaunt around in the woods. Bring a snack and a juice and lets go play!!!
  10. Well they are having some collective ride at Delvera this weekend I think - so there should be new stuff to ride there from next weekend. Maybe Eden Sunday - check out group rides post. AND THERE IS LOTS OF SINGLE TRACK TO LOVE/HATE THERE ALL YOU MOUNTAINBIKERS!!!!
  11. I hear you Fruitloop, just do what Steve Peat does with a new helmet... first time you get (gently) drop it on the ground - then the first crash is over!!! Mmmmm, nothing like a new bike to curl up that smile!
  12. I hear you Fruitloop, just do what Steve Peat does with a new helmet... first time you get (gently) drop it on the ground - then the first crash is over!!! Mmmmm, nothing like a new bike to curl up that smile!
  13. To all Morewood owners & the everyone else.... How about a "chase you down the mountain side" session this Sunday morning at Eden.... I haven't ridden my bike properly in a while and Eden just sounds so appealing!!!!!
  14. I have heard this method works from a reliable source: With clean hands (naturally) remove pads from brake caliper Clean back of pad and inside of caliper (carefully - pistons are sensitive individuals, often ceramic) Put a dab of CopperSlip on the back of the pad and don't get it near anywhere else. And when I say dab, like touch the CopperSlip lightly with the end of your finger (you will almost have to much) Clean hands Replace pads Reason for the honking is resonance of pads against the piston. CopperSlip limits this reasonance. The squeaky pads may just be the type - i have found sintered pads squeak the most and organic's wear the quickest. I have heard of guys also doing half and half (i.e. one of each per caliper) to get the best of both worlds - it isn't something I have tried though. Hope this helps, there will be other methods, you will more than likely have to try a couple to see which one works for you....good luck and if I hear you coming down the trail I will move out the way...
  15. B2B - Mr King all the way, the ultimate in bike porn!!! Dude makes parts with surgical tolerances, I mean that is just amazing. I9 give him a stiff battle, but it doesn't have the heritage. Then again, if I could afford any of them I would be a happy bouncing biker...
  16. So what happened on the ride??? Was it a good one, anyone do superman flip over the drop off...

  21. I saw a pic of a 4x bike from the Belgium round about2-3 weeks ago. the guy was running like 3 gears attached to the freehub (looking like ss set-up). Thinking of maybe trying to set something up like that, seeing as the gears thing is not his style. He needs the big hit fork though, he is pinning that F100 of mine...
  22. Yeah BOS i'm keen!!! Will plan for a spin next weekend..need to put in some time with the misses this saturday it seems. My bro - he's quick, just wait till we get him on a bigger bike... Planning a steel HT with a big hit fork and some gears for him to play with, maybe the gears will slow him down....
  23. Hockey is one of those few contact sports that they give you a weapon...makes it a little more, well, interesting.... If you don't believe me you are more than welcome to don the keepers kit and stand in the goals and see for yourself... If sunday is the ride, then I am out. Markus is also out as he is going to the Southern cape, and he has a front wheel that's in its chops...
