  1. Sorry Crow, skint...going to have to slide down the trail (hopefully not on my ass again) BOS1000 - got the WTB at Bowmans in CT. Should have bought more when they were there . They aren't tubeless ready (LUST) but are folding and pretty light, maybe not to good for tubeless...then again I ain't a fan neither. Ja, 60a is hardness of rubber / durometer. 42a - super tacky, like poo on a bunny 60a - sticky, rolls well, wears ok (bit fast on the back) 70a - good for rear but slimy in the wet. wet roots become glass which makes you see your .... Wouldn't touch anything above that unless you putting them on a bike from Game for a 10 year old who like to skid down hills.
  2. What are you lubing here: Car Bike Miesie
  3. I am not sure about you hubbers but if I was going to spend 70k it would be as follows: Titanium (not this plastic nonsense) CUSTOM MADE JUST FOR YOU!!! And you follow those points then you pretty much are set... All the other bits and pieces will just fall into place? How uncool you riding down the road with 70k under those larny shorts you also bought and some dude rides past you....on the same bike in the same colour.... "I just should have had a custom made...." is what I would be thinking
  4. I would say to them organiser folks: SOMETHING USABLE BY YOUR SUPPORTERS! A free choccie maybe be nice for, um, er, about 30 seconds....but how about some kit that can actually be used. The idea of the "waterproof" bank bag for your cell phone in this years Argus bag was thinking out of the box...but thats where the box stopped.
  5. Scalpel, nice one mate... And now I grab my pen and I write it down....neh!
  6. Like a fool, I did not write down the the SRAM Cape Town distributors contact details that where mentioned in a thread some time ago. If anyone knows there contacts, please can you let me know as I have a couple questions related to replacement parts. Cheers
  7. Why don't you guys find a bearing supplier, get them to match up the stuffed (correct sized) one with something like and SKF or FAG bearing? Bearings will them probably outlast anything you get from the LBS??? Maybe worth it in cost to....
  8. I'm part of the crew with droo...sounds the business. Will make big effort to experience this one. Thanks for the heads up on some new trails dudes!!!!
  9. Really nice combo on an XC bike I found is Nevegal FT XMark RR. I have a Prowler SS for trail bike front, 60a. Sticks well except a little sketchy in the wet...and I thought it was wearing until I put a new tire on the front (Nokian ) and saw my ass properly! Ask droo, he saw the dripping red stuff. Anyway, I vote WTB, good price, they stick, roll quick and chicks dig em lank...
  10. Cyclist Mom, all the very best for your boy. I've had the same misfortune he has had and it ain't pleasant. Take em to the cleaners!!! DaveM - what do you expect the sister to do? quickly ride home and get a spare car in the middle of Argus mayhem....you ponce! THERE SHOULD NOT HAVE BEEN A CAR ON THE RODE, WHAT PART DON'T YOU GET
  11. If you looking for mtb steel frames then On One are the schizzle. Been hunting around and they are really competatively priced (around 3k)and offer a wide range of options. And as far as availability goes I am told there is an agent in SA. PM droo as he has been doing a bit of homework on the matter
  12. Not sure about you guys, but i choose to service my bikes myself... and if its a problem I can't fix then a reserved visit to the lbs is made. And ordering? seems one can almost cut them out of the loop with the likes of CRC etc bring stuf in cheaper and quicker (?) generally.... locals agents also sometimes are not prepared to order in certain parts - that is a load of BS if you ask me!
  13. Mmmm, not sold on the idea mate. But hey, if you 4'8" i suppose you can fit...
  14. Sparetyre, are you not going to unevening load your riding position like that.... Sounds like you putting more weight over the front....even at 50kph ain't no way I am going to do that!!!
  15. Hahaha, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz DAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Once hopped the front line one of those older traps they used to string on the ground. Resulted in back wheel hitting first line followed straight after by front wheel hitting second... Generally registers you doing like 200 odd. And you get a interesting picture too
  16. Will keep looking, may have to quizz the LBS about this one... Drop me a line if you find anything, I'll do the same Cheers
  17. Anyone, anyone?
  18. Hey Rock I got 170's on my trail bike - you won't believe how much of a difference 5mm make with clearance on the trail. I rode 175's before, constantly clipping rocks. With the 170's, over the last 6months i have maybe clipped at most 10 times.... And one doesn't notice the difference when pedaling when off road. P.S. Thanks for the shiftes...
  19. Hey Hubbers Does anyone know if SRAM in SA provide replacement parts? I was lucky enough to snap my shifter pod off the handle bar clamp yesterday. It looks like one could unscrew that clamping plate off the top and replace it? The shifters are the SRAM Attack (basically look like the new X-7's) that are compatible with Shimano derailers. Cheers

If you looking for something a little less off the shelf them pm droo. I know he is developing a kick ass bright one for retail...
  21. Hi Johan My old man is the one in question. I am not to sure what he has but I am going to ask him to register and come add info onto this thread with regards to the problem. Maybe you will be able to answer more of the questions he has than I will. The question of parts and getting this wheel built up before the World Funride Champs in a couple weeks time is the problem...and not having the hoop go all wobbly on them which has happened before.
  22. After reading most of the threads today, this is the reason I don't ride on the road. After being taken out 4 times, its now safer to ride with a large group - 35000 or so. I do find it highly amuzing that the cartoday thread is, um not available and the fact that a couple of hubbers didn't even get registered! All in all, consideration is the end result and the admin department should block some of "stuff" that was posted. Would have paid good money to see the tatters of the thread at cartoday. SO, ride safe, play hard and learn to bunny hop...never know when it may be handy
  23. I am thinking of building up a new wheelset... Not the I-9 bling that has been floating around this afternoon unfortunately I am using the Nuke Proof Hubs, which is the main area of interest. I have done what homework I can on them, so some thoughts from the thehubsa panel is always interetsting. In the 90's Nuke Proofs were the , but then sadly disappeared before resurfacing with their Generator series... So anyone know anything about these puppies, thoughts would be appreciated.... http://www.nukeproof.com/hub3.html
  24. Well we've seen how the boys hammer those I-9's on Seasons, so that sold it for me. Wouldn't be to push them to that limit, so must be good for us mere mortals. Mmm, bike porn. So close yet so far out or reach. Anyone want to give me a set for my barfday, i will be eternally grateful
  25. Hear Hear, Although a CK came past the the other day...nearly shat myself. That thing howls... I like the I-9 customization they offer. Now where did I put that home loan information....
