  1. Just got a message that Jonkershoek is smoking big time and the wind is driving a bit of flame around... hope the damage aint too bad, not keen to loose any trails! C'mon the boys in red (and yellow) - you can do it!
  2. the spacers on top of the stem are there to guard against crushing of the top of the steerer tube during use. generally only required on lightweight full carbon numbers...
  3. 29er rims are the same diameter as 700c road rims, so put a road wheel in then add 2.3odd inches to the top, you'll want some mud clearance so my guess would be you need 6cm above the rim to comfortably run the 9er wheel. may be a good idea to measure up the rake on the fork aswell just to check your new bike won't handle like a pig...
  4. forging is used for a lot of suspension links. forging allows parts to be more resilient by inducing an amount of metal hardening throught the forging process...
  5. kcnc part are machined in china, now my limited knowlegde of material quality control leads me to suspect that there could have been a cold joint or a flaw in the original billit the stem was machined from... hard to notice unless ultra sonic or radiographic testing is done before the material is machined... use it don't use it...
  6. had a SDG Bel Air, fininshed the epic with no problems, currently on a WTB Silverado, has been pretty comfi.
  7. and while everyone is waving their camelbaks around, why not handbags at 10 paces...?
  8. I think the only time it's good to wave your bottle around is when your about to launch it at someone, give the guy behind you a chance to sit up and watch the action...
  9. no, not subtle enough, just lift one cheek of the saddle and say 'passing right'...
  10. can you imagine guys trying to do this with bite-valves on camelbaks...
  11. and sanity prevails once again... good man!
  12. the missing pass is Viljoens, goes past the bottom of groenlandberg...
  13. unfortunately us bike riders are at the bottom of the pile in terms of yeilding trails so it's one of those situations where it just better to shut-up and carry on... one day their horses will spook and when they make it out the forest they won't be going back in a hurry... moose B2009-01-23 00:44:51

  17. Anyone know where the best place to get my paws on 29er bits and pieces in Caoe Town is? Looking for tyres and tubes/Stans conversion kits in particular.
  18. I think the swiss power pro's have been riding on a tubies for a couple of seasons...
  19. conversion kit with Stan's magic sauce... never had an issue and done about 7000km on the wheels...
  20. Anyone Know the exact details regarding the no result in the open team class over the weekend... seems like the boys from Williams were not very happy at all...
  21. should really be comparing the giant to the SC blur... at least that way you can cancel the single vs VP debate...
  22. the trick is to train like a slave on the knobblies, then come race day put on the slicks and scorch all your mate with your new found pace... just a thought, nevegal tires are knobblie as all hell, good job for not blowing your legs off while training.
  23. just a thought, the scott suspension design is a 'secound thought' after they couldn't get the rights to use the specialized horst link. not that it's a bad design, but no marking hype will make it any better.
