  1. Nope, been totally off. will try and get on the IDT and spin the legs from this weekend to get get something done but this week walking up the stair has been an issue. 60 days you say, thanks bud. puts my mind at ease. gives me 40 days to get it sorted out. only need to do sub 5 for soweto and then can go for a faster time at Johnson in Jan if need be.
  2. How far out from your first marathon should one start stressing if you have not been able to start training because of injury and have been off for over a month? Like soweto is 100 days and i have been off for 40 days and counting, so say at 80 days out with 60 days off at what ratio would i need to consider postponing my first marathon to another event? 80/60, 70/70 , 60/80, 50/90, 40/100 ???
  3. For those whom have entered Soweto, 100 Days LEFT!!!
  4. Thanks , had a gut feeling about him after his last two TDF's. He has come to realise he wont be a GC champion especially at Sunweb with Tommy D and Bling there for the sprints so it leaves him with stage wins and KOM's to make a name for himself in France. Still think Thomas De Gent should have got the most combative prize, i did have him too.
  5. Ha ha, thanks bud. Seen as i am still battling with this stupid ITb issues i think i will just have to spend some time on the new bike
  6. For this exact reason i went back to the FR920XT, even though the strap is unpleasant when focusing on it
  7. so how is everyone's training going? Who else is still on the injury bench?
  8. I'm sorry but i don't see how that is possible with the correct people at the helm. i mean how hard is it to get sponsorship from the two most economic cities in RSA. Heck, they could even do a joint effort if need be. make a huge promotion about a JHB company/radio station etc handing over the battern in midrand to a PTA company radio station for the final leg Relay style. Just bad marketing and poor staff selection in my very limited experienced opinion.
  9. How soon do you want to run your first HM? In November there is a HM in Alberton and its very flat. PS: Congrats on making the decision and best of luck with your training!
  10. Unfortunately wont be able to make it on Sunday. IBT has also decided that running isn't on the cards for me just yet.
  11. New Balance, tend to have a wider toe box than most other shoes, which could cause the "roomy" sensation. I had the 1080's and had the same problem. Isn't there a sports shoe specialist / sports podiatrist there near you in NZ that can help? If you were still here in Jozi i would have suggests Mike Roscoe at SBR Sport. He helped many of us here.
  12. That mean you don't want me to come do your clubs race on Sunday? ha ha, thanks for the feedback though. will keep the Slow Mag as i reminder and actually try it a bit.
  13. In theory that would be great, unfortunately the position i find myself in, all the big changes that have happened recently can't be unchanged so will have to hope it's the electrolytes deficiency that is the cause as that can easily be fixed
  14. Definitely not Creatine, I use a multi vit, Vit C, Glutamine for recovery after a strenuous training session, that's it. I do take rehydrate during an event, will take some over the next few days, can't do any harm.
  15. Hey guys and Gals, maybe someone here has some insight to help me out. So as mentioned in my IM70.3 post i cramped really early in the swim and struggled through to the end. initially i thought maybe it was the saltiness from the ocean or i just went out to fast or bad tapering or even poor diet the two weeks preceding the event. All which happened. Now after reflecting a bit further, i can recall the 3 weeks leading up i was cramping during the day and evening while not training, in my legs, feet, hands, neck. Now two weeks post IM70.3 i'm still getting cramps even in my feet, although i haven't done anything except a 5km fun run/walk with a first timer (To get them into the sport - Run/Walk for Bibles on Sat) so it was very slow. I eat a chewable calcium and a replenish K (Potassium) tablet every night. Am i right in thinking this could be a non-event related issue? If so, Any idea what could be causing the cramps?
  16. I shall see you there then on the morning at the entry table.
  17. Ag no man, can you do entries on the day so i can come and support your club?
  18. Remind us before entries close so we can try get as many hubbers to support the local club races.
  19. What is this nonsense? who is going to pace me through my first marathon then? You did such a sterling job at colgate.
  20. I See Soweto Marathon is Sold out Which Hubbers will be at the starting line?
  21. Congrats and welcome. Sis on you for hiding in the shadows. Your experience from your first Comrades not to speak of the qualifiers etc could have helped some novices out, just kidding, well sorta
  22. Dont go saying that to loud on any other thread, you might just get nuked
  23. Not running specific but we can all use a bit of motivation from time to time,
