  1. When the advertising first came out i saw this an hence why i waited till the 3 months were finished to see if my desired shoe falls into their allowable category, but i can't seem to find which shoes are excluded and which are acceptable, anyone know more on this?
  2. so i'm thinking of activating the shoe booster, is it working correctly or should i rather not waste my time?
  3. Probably why comrades doesn't recognise it as a qualifier. OMTOM you can understand because it's a local (CPT) race, so to try and boost local tourism its only right that they accept it.
  4. Hey , i've done 512km this year with my longest being Colgate. Next year i'll be there at the start line with you
  5. hopefully she take the next few month completely off and recovers well, so she can come back with a bang next season
  6. Stretch is the change of avatar to get everyone in the mood for the long shuffle?
  7. Will be driving from my bed to the lounge to watch you guys on the tellie the whole day. Then be so inspired that i will like every other year end up going for a run and swearing blind that "Next year i will be at the start line"
  8. Then i don't want to know how many miles you use to run

  10. Last year while watching Last year while watching the 2 Oceans Half Marathon, Mr. Bruce made a comment which has stuck with me ever since, he said That anyone who can run a sub 90 HM is an athlete and not a runner. That's because for most people no matter how many years they run, sub 90 is not a realistic goal. Sub 90 is tremendously difficult as genetics, biomechanics etc plays a big role in achieving this feat. As i am not coach, doctor nor do i know you, so I will not say yes or no. Just don't be disappointed if its not achievable right now, who knows, maybe with enough training you will realise that you do have the genes to achieve it.
  11. Agreed 100%, and by Short he means Short!! start off with less than 2km runs 3 times a week and build on that by increasing by 10% week on week. Everyone here has taken the long road, most of us tried the shortcut but paid the price for it via injuries. Most importantly, just enjoy it
  12. Stay ahead of the buk's 12hour bus Sorry bud, i just had to. Honestly i think either could work depending on other circumstances
  13. Good luck bud. It seems i too picked something up, either from Saturdays run in the cold or from my two boys who are sick. Making me doubt whether or not i should rather pull out of the Audax 200km ride on Sunday. Will see how it goes time and make the call closer to the time.
  14. ha ha, before i drank like a fish and smoked like a chimney i once ran a sub 20min 5K. Now its time to try get back there. very impressive HM time though, i'd love to get as close to a sub 90 but doubt that is possible
  15. route link not working
  16. I'll except that challenge if you don't mind? Marathon - Not done one yet HM - 1:51 Vaal Marathon 2017 5k - 21:46 Suncoast Parkrun 2017
  17. I'm 1.86m short too Although not nearly as experienced as the rest of the group here this is what i went through last year. I wanted to increase my cadence up to 180 SPM as per Jack Daniels book. So before i started with it i found that at Om die Dam HM AVG : 167 SPM , Stride 1.02m @ 5:55 Pace with 9.5cm Bounce (VO) in Race mode Birchwood HM AVG : 168 SPM , Stride 1.11m @ 5:23 Pace with 9.7cm VO in Race mode After picking up various injuries i reverted back to just running on feel. On Sunday i did Colgate and ran that at AVG : 167 SPM , Stride 1.03m @ 5:48 Pace with 8.9cm Bounce (VO) as a training run I have found that when increasing the pace to 5:00 or below my stride length increase and cadence too, for example, last months park run AVG : 180 SPM , Stride 1.25m @ 4:20 Pace BUT then you look at guys who i know have run Silver and Bill Rowan and some of them are running at 155SPM and in the same height category as us, so my suggestion is to run in whatever way is comfortable and natural for you. If that leads to injuries them tweak it a bit but as long as you not getting injured don't go changing it just to suit what other people out there say you should be doing. Case in point, look at Kajsa Berg, the Swedish runner whom came third last year at comrades, she has such an inelegant style, butcher like in fact but she is at the top tier of the sport.
  18. I agree, but now the problem for him is that if he gets anything other than a SILVER at Comrades we all know he didn't run hard enough

  20. Thanks Stretch. Sorry to hear about your bad day out there. Don't stress to much, you've done enough and will be fine come "C - Day" Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk
  21. How did Jackie M 25km go yesterday? Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk
  22. Ha ha, Hacc, sitting in the car park now waiting for the nerves to pass before going to the start. Decided as this is not my goal event and 1st attempt like you mentioned I will not aim for sub3 but rather 3.30. IM70.3 is the main goal in 6 weeks time, don't want to take any injury into that Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk
  23. Since this science experiment was announced i have been watching the international races, London, Paris, etc in the hope that someone there, not in Nike shoes would "Just do It" before tomorrows test.
