  1. Good luck with that training and event. As its your first, don't try push for a specific time. Rather go slow and finish it as the achievement will give you confidence for all future running ambitions. One of my clubs ladies had run 18 comrades, at training she generally run 5.30 pace but has never gotten a sub 2 HM , in fact her best time is 2.13. When i asked why she does push herself more in races she said she is there to enjoy herself firstly and secondly she doesn't feel like sitting on the injury bench for extended periods of time just because she went out faster than she needed to.
  2. so when is everyone planning on starting up again?
  3. FYI Entries for Soweto Marathon close this week
  4. since when is the leader of the race not allowed to back up the race behind a safety car? Its a tactic done since the first ever safety car was introduced! there are only ever two things that happen in the final corner before a safety car is brought in, either the leader bunches everyone up or he floors it. Vettle predicted incorrectly and paid the price for it. BUT then the road rage is even worse than what Schumie did to prevent Villieneuve from overtaking yet Schumie got stripped of his 2nd place in the title. I think Vettle was extremely lucky to only get a 10sec penalty
  5. Yeah the full one and EL are now playing mind games with me. Well the full for so as it's 2 weeks after OMTOM next year. So now got to make a choice, which one to go for? Sent from my SM-G900H using Tapatalk

  7. As its my 1st 70.3 , the anxiety starting to build up
  8. No thanks, i'll pass, i hate descending
  9. I too pulled the trigger today. Self seeded myself in 4:01-4:30 batch, hopefully I wasn't being to optimistic there. Guess only time will tell. Is OMTOM qualifying time also 4:59:59 like Comrades?
  10. "Ready or not here i come" is all that keeps going through my mind lately. Way to late in the game to get any fitter for it . I believe i should complete it the cut off of 8.5 hours. Definitely no where near the 6 hours i was hoping for when i first committed to the training but seen as its my 1st i just want to complete it unscathed. Another rest day today then will go for a last 15km run tomorrow and a last hour IDT on Sunday, 1 or 2 light swims next week as well as a massage on Tuesday then its go time as they say. Thursday i will be driving down after work.
  11. To all my Discovery Vitality team mates, yes you know whom you are, I see none of you have reached your weekly goal target yet. What , you think just because you did a small club run on Sunday you don't have to do anything else for the rest of the week? Go out there and give me a 3 hour run , I want my smoothie damnit. I am feel so disorientated intentionally not doing any training today as per my taper plan (Own plan, nothing official) for next wkn's IM70.3 , I'm only starting to comprehend what you guys were talking about a few weeks ago when you were tapering for Comrades.
  12. I just could not see the point in waiting till the end of the year, so i paid the monies this morning and sent through my clearance letter to my new proper non virtual club
  13. That is insane Edgar, huge respect bud.
  14. So Jackes how did you and the Mrs do in your first Comrades?
  15. I've hear those words before from many a comrade whom lined up the following year. Rest well bud, you deserved it. PS Soweto Marathon entries close end of the month so you better book your qualifier early
  16. Welcome Eren, and congrats on your brilliant achievement. Now dont be a stranger and go join the Bikehub group on strava https://www.strava.com/clubs/bikehubsa
  17. Could be that you got your hydration spot on, as i find whenever i take an anti-inflammatory, painkiller or sleeping pill that i always have a dry mouth even if i haven't done any exercise that day. once again, massive congrats on your bill dude.
  18. Boys and Ladies, well done on your magnificent achievement. You are all inspirational and you are the true heros of the day. Fitting in training, family and a full time job is never easy.
  19. With Caroline out, hopefully she will be the voice for Sunday like she was for Oceans
  20. A lot of people employ a run walk strategy , who is doing that this year and what does it look like?
  21. I always suffer terribly from anxiety the night before an event as well as the night after the an event. For the past year i have been using Zopivane, its cleared by the drug free sport http://www.drugfreesport.org.za/?s=zopiclone , The main reason why i use it is because unlike some other meds i have tried this doesn't keep you asleep. it purely knocks you out quickly and then a noise that would normally wake you u, will still wake you. It has absolutely no side effects that i have experienced in the morning of the race such as grogginess, tired legs or even a hazy mind. you do however need a script for it.
