  1. I think Meyer wants to know how he can measure someone he knows. Quite simple - throw them in the deep end (or an organised cycling event) and see how they emerge. I knew that a person close to me had talent when, at 16 years old he did an Argus in 2hrs42mins on a very ordinary bike! If he/she is good, and becomes visibly so, someone will notice.
  2. Need to get my posts up!! In last Argus had 3 family generations taking part: me, my daughter who goes quite well and a grandson who has now lost interest because he's now old enough to have an engine fitted to his 2 wheels! Also got a son who is very enthusiastic.
  3. Getting back to the show, I started to wonder ? is this a general reflection of cycling in SA or is it a grand CycleLab commercial?\<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> Starting with a boring 20 minute coverage of a rather mediocre tour, (with apologies to the participants), in which there did not seem to be much racing, poor footage which seemed to focus more on riders plodding their way round the circuits than on action (if there was any), followed by transplants from the Cyclingnews.com news columns. I drifted off to watch the ?Thin Blue Line? on Prime at 8 because it was such a lot more exciting! Saw the second ? hour of Super Cyclelab this am on Mnet. Only 5 mins on what looked like a good race ? the Cradle one, I think. (I assume Cyclab sponsor Microsoft because they were given lots of commentary?). Poor old Andrew was almost speechless when Rupert won it!! And do you know what ? I can?t remember what else! And an aversion to commenting on teams riding Cannondale or Felt bikes is becoming conspicuous! Will be interesting to see, now the European season is finished, and there is a bit more competition in SA, how the tv coverage is going to be manoeuvred!
  4. Hi Kjind. Myself and a couple of friends do a 50k loop from Adderley road every Thursday morning, +/- 9.30, weather permitting. If you are not one of the working class you would be quite welcome to join us. I am sure we could adjust to meet your ability - for a while, anyway!
  5. Gear ratios<?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> 2.2.023 (N) For juniors men and juniors women, the maximum gear ratio authorised is that which gives a distance covered per pedal revolution of 7.93 metres.(text modified on 1.01.00). The above UCI reg is the sole criteria regarding gear ratios for Juniors. The sizes of the gears are not relevant so long as the 7.93 metre criteria is met. You may find, depending on the tyres used, that a 53/14 combination will just fit into the distance. However, don't risk disqualification if not 100% sure!!!
  6. See James Perry has also renewed contract with TBL for 2007. Whats happening to Jeremy Maartens and Jock Green?
  7. Number 12 for me, spread over 15 years - missed one doing driver for one of the Giro team vehicles and one because i had a heart bypass op instead!!. No problem with online registration but a bit long winded!
