shoo looks like a mixed bag on this one. I can say that I have not had any issues at Teak. I am a bit concerned re the falling and have no one to help I do ride with my cellphone so that is some consolation. Are there any hubbers who go for regular 30-60km rides at these places? What about club 100 is it worth joining them?

I mostly ride alone at places like teak but I am looking to spice it up a bit and try Northern Farms or anywhere else that you guys can recomend in that area. Is it safe to ride alone at Northern Farms? I ride in the mornings on weekends. Anyone heard about people being robbed at Northern Farms or Teak?

My 2c worth I had a white seat/seat post bars and grips and for Xc riding it is admin one or two muddy rides and you shining bling whote bike goes a distrubing Poo brown, I would hate to see what a set of tires looks like after a muddy ride.

Maybe a silly question but how much have they really change the technology of the RD and FD for the XX setup? And how much will it change on the XTR? The pricipals remain the same jus the gearing that changes??? Or am I completely off here?

I must agree, but it is brand spanking new so to throw it away now would be silly but I am def gonna change to X0 when is replacment time

I have normally ridden bikes with XO RD /XT FD and X9 shifters but my new bike has XTR RD/XT FD and XT shifters The XTR feels smoother but not as racey and precise as the XO setup. It also seems that all the top end bikes these days are going on the Sram kit. Is XTR a thing of the past technology wise?

I am always scared of the bikes on the roof but people also drive too close to cars in front of them so it is also possible that some one can drive into the back of you with bikes on the tow bar. At least you can prevent yourself from driving into a garage etc!

Check out the specialized optics range , they make great stuff road and mtb specific designs(mtb has a slighlty yellow tint for low light condtions IE single track and the road versions highlight red light for car brake lights etc) and they also have adaptalight which is thier verison of photohromatic. And they are reasonably priced.

Racer X I got the following upgrades Rims- DT 4.2D RD XTR The resto of the bike is as per the spec the Magura Durin Race is an unbelivable fork, and the X fusion rear shock has zero bob it is perfectly tuned for the bikes geometry. I am chuffed with this machine

Bought the Merida and I got a sweet deal I got upgraded Rims RD Crank Brakes Bike is light lightning non pedal bob or loss of power from the pedal stroke and handles like a dream I highly recomend this bike to people in the market for an XC racer.

Any inputs from technical hubbers?

Any comments on summit cycles they are a full R200 more than cycle lab.

I bought my bike from a bike shop in the Western Cape, I used to live there and have moved up to JHB and I dont trust anyone else when it comes to buying bikes so I bought it from him and he shipped it up to JHB for me.

Who does the BG fitting? I saw at Cycle lab fourways that they had a Specialized certificate up there or do you have to go to FPC?

Has anyone had one of these fitments done? I have just got a new bike and I have been thinking about having a cycle lab fitment done before I do my first ride to make sure I am properly set up on the bike. Comments suggestions?

I have recently got a new bike that came with the above mentioned brake set. It is running on Shimano XT disc hubs with XT rotor. My front brake is making contact with the rototor I have done the following 1. pushed the piston bake 2. Realigned the entire unit on the fork After the above it was sorted, I had to take the wheel off and when I put it back on it was making contact again. Why is this what else can I do? The fork is a magura durin race if that has any relevance

I ride all over the show I am from Stellenbosch but live in JHB now I am lucky enough to visit Stellies failry often so I ride in Jonkershoek and I enjoy the signle track there . Up here in JHB I have been looking for places to ride and have been doing the majority of my riding at teak and reitvlie . I am coming off a stumpjumper which I loved but I have decided to do more stage races like Jhb2C/ Epic etc. Hence looking to change bikes. Budget is R20 000

I also thought that all the bikes listed are XC bikes. I have ridden all of them expect the Merida hence my question. I didnt like the Yeti too much it was okay but in my humble opinion it is way over rated! And it Creeks all the time it was like riding through an orchastra! The Epic was great I have ridden both the 07 Sworks and an 09 Expert great ride quick and effcient but over priced for what you get other than a brain fade rear shock that most people seem to think will be more of a pain in the butt in the long run. Thats why I am more than likely going to go with the Merida it has a remote lock out for the rear shock (so almost like a brain except I will have to my brain to know when to lock out) and it has a carbon rear stay so it is the same as the yeti in that regard. Compnents you can change! so all thing equal it sounds like a winner. Plus the Durin Race front fork looks wicked and the write ups on it say the same.
