  2. What year Epic is that?
  3. then you have your answet XT is the best of all worlds. Light enough to be race worthy, reliable and tough
  4. The are great wheels, why are you looking to buy new wheels are you looking to save weight over you current set or is it just time to replace your current set?
  5. I am looking at getting the cheapest possible rear wheel for use on an IDT, I have found a set of wheels here on the hub but they are 7 speed, could I change the cassette on these to make them compatible with modern MTB? Or would I have to change the hub as well? Pic of the wheels below
  6. Hi I am planning on doing a 60 to 80 km ride in the teak/cradle area this coming Sat 27th Feb. It will be slow paced base riding, combination of on and off road. I have a route in mind but I am up for ideas. Let me know if anyone is interested.
  7. What is the model number of the FSA headset?
  8. Anyone with any suggestions?
  9. I went to summit for a 3d fit and I wont be doing that again. The bike felt better when I had it set my way and when I mailed through the issues I was having I got no response.
  10. Now the question is which bars to get? I am not talking brand I am talking length, backsweep and upsweep specs. As mentioned I am running FSA XC 180OS Flat 620 at the moment and do not want to chage the XC nature of my bike too much. Suggestions?
  11. You would think that at a 650 rand fitting the people would tell you these things, I ride for 6 hours a week and have been doing so for 6 months so I spend a fair amount of time on the bike. I had a flexablitly check when I went for the fitting and I was told that I have great flexability (but then again I think the fitting was a waste of money)I am going to get riser bars to start then check out the stem.
  12. When I ride my neck gets sore , I have been for a fitting and at the fitting the guy who did the fitting turned my stem upside down so I was in an even more race orientated postion . This made it even worse. I changed the stem back to the right way up and it was better but still not confortable. The question is do i change the handle bars or the stem to put me in a slightly more upright postion. the stem I have at the moment is a FSA OS-XT 6? The handle bars are FSA XC 180OS Flat 620
  13. Okay I am confused now! I have a 2010 Merida 96 3000d, I am running hayes stroker carbon brakes with Shimano SMRT77 160mm rotor, the reason for running this rotor is because I have XT hubs whihc take a centre lock rotor only so my LBS put these rotors on, My problem is that the disc makes contact with the brake pads all the time. Yesterday I went for a ride at teak, I check that the wheel spins freely before I strated the ride , about 15km in i could feel the wheel was not running freely and stopped to check I spun the wheel and it was not spinning freely at. This is not the first time I have had this issue on this set up. In order to fix this I have to : < ="-" ="text/; =utf-8">< name="ProgId" ="Word.">< name="Generator" ="Microsoft Word 12">< name="Originator" ="Microsoft Word 12"><> Removed the wheel and the calliper unit from the fork Removed the brake pads and pushed the pistons back into the bores Reinstalled the wheel onto the fork Centred the brake unit to the disc with a business cards around the disc Loosely reattached the brake calliper Pulled the brake lever fully compressed and realised the lever (repeated several times) Fully compressed brake lever and secured to the handle bars Tightened the brake calliper Released the brake lever Spun the wheel to check for contact points Fine tuned the brake calliper so that there is zero contact with the disc Tightened the calliper Spun the wheel to check for contact points There was now zero contact with the brake pads and the disc This is a copy and past from a mail I sent to Hayes , I also contact magura and both Hayes and Magura say that there is no compability issues between the fork and the brake. They both say it could be the rotors or the hibs, my LBS says it is not the rotors as they have run this setup in the past and no issues. I was told to check that my hubs cones are tight and to try another skewer. How do I tighten the cones? Are there any other suggestions on how to fix this?
  14. Silly question but have there been anyt issues on the T3 road that runs past teak and the lion and rihno park?
  15. I have done the caliper adjustments a few times now and I have contact the support team at hayes and they say it is either my hubs or my rotors that and not compatible.
  16. The reason for me looking to replace the hubs is that I have Hayes brakes running on my bike and with the Shimano hubs I have to use the Shimano rotors whihc constantly need to be adjusted to stop them from rubbing on the rotors.
  17. Hi I do Xc riding so weight is an issue but not the be all and end all, I am looking at replacing my XT hubs. What are good value for money hubs that will suit my needs?
  18. Can anyone recomend a decent indoor trainer for an MTB, I borrowed a friends trainer once and all it did was chow my tyre!

  20. I am using Squirt at the moment. Is there something that keeps the chain cleaner? I am a fanatic when it comes to a clean drive train I clean the drive train every weekend so it gets cleaned and lubed every two/three rides .What the top of tops for clean well lubed drive train?
  21. What route should I do to get 40km in one ride?
  22. shoo looks like a mixed bag on this one. I can say that I have not had any issues at Teak. I am a bit concerned re the falling and have no one to help I do ride with my cellphone so that is some consolation. Are there any hubbers who go for regular 30-60km rides at these places? What about club 100 is it worth joining them?
  23. I mostly ride alone at places like teak but I am looking to spice it up a bit and try Northern Farms or anywhere else that you guys can recomend in that area. Is it safe to ride alone at Northern Farms? I ride in the mornings on weekends. Anyone heard about people being robbed at Northern Farms or Teak?
  24. My 2c worth I had a white seat/seat post bars and grips and for Xc riding it is admin one or two muddy rides and you shining bling whote bike goes a distrubing Poo brown, I would hate to see what a set of tires looks like after a muddy ride.
