  1. Merida and Spesh come out the same factory. I recon the best spesh bike on the market is the Stumpy, I had an ali stumpy and the bike was a dream it was so much fun, if you look at the smwork stumpy you got a go anywhere do anything bike that is 110% race worthy.
  2. They all have the brain shock, I had a 2008 sworks, nice bike no doubt about it. I now ride a Merida and I can honestly say that for the price of an Sworks epic I would rather buy the XX Merida 96. The Merida 96 has remote lock out on the rear shock so you are the brain whihc for me works better. It is also proven to be the stiffest carbon frame avalible and at 9,5kgs complete with pedals it is one of the lightest.
  3. I am in JHB? So popping into the shop is gonna be hard. Still keen though our head office is in CPT so I am down there alot and a mate of mine is coming up next week. Can you mail me a pic?
  4. Sounds good where can I get some more info? Specs Pics etc?
  5. She is looking for an entry level bike so that kinda cash is outta the question, maybe you can do another bike in this price range? Besides with an X small they use half the material anyways
  6. Like an Alfa, when they running nothing could make you happier, when they break nothing could pi$$ you off more
  7. I can do R4000?
  8. I am looking for a bike for my girl friend she is 154cm tall will the small fit?
  9. Sorry but what is the point of the test I have an Imagic can I do the test on it?
  10. Probably would have bought it before then Hopefully even by the time the weekend ends. Know of any jobs for newly qualified CA's? Need to start looking now.??????? We have loads of Ca's working for us there always seems to be a need for more checkout our website there is an HR link there it is www.paarlmedia.co.za good luck
  11. o ya and you getting a full susser! there is only one place to buy bike in the Wcape and that is conerstone cycles in Paarl speak to Denis he will hook u up
  12. Ya noche! I lived in Stellenbosch for two years and unless you rode through the township you had zero to worry about except the killer climbs!
  13. I think it is only a matter of time until they spred to Teak for, so they give northerns a rest so everyone thinks it is safe while they work the teak area and then the go back to northerns when no one expects it! I suggest people look at joining clubs, 4 to 6 people are no challenge you need big numbers to make it work! I used to ride alone alot but not anymore the only time I ride alone these days is on the trainer!
  14. Yup it is all personal choice. I know the XT brakes are also light and have great modulation, my theory is when you start playing in the top end of the market then it is all down to personal preferences.
  15. Hi baie sukkle I have Hayes stroker carbon brakes mounted directly to the fork no issues apart from the standard disc brake problems of alignment etc. I am running shimano rotors on the centre lock system much better if you ask me. You have XT hubs on that bike so the hub should be able to take the centre lock no problems. Just one question why dump the maguras they are lovely brakes I didnt have a choice on my setup as my bike was heavily modfied when I got it, but if i had had a choice I would have gone with the maguras
  16. I actually dont have a preferance when it comes to bikes above R25k they all good, the most important thing is that the bike must speak to you and when you throw your leg over that top tube it must feel like an extension of yourself, and the only person who knows when a bike is right for you is you. It is like buying a house no one can say this house is better than this one etc etc when you walk into the front door it speaks to you! Or your wife does until you buy it but there is definately speaking involved!
  17. We must go for a ride I have been doing what I do best and slacking, Rode with Club 100 on Saturday on the road bike but havent done any MTB distance so would be good to taste the sand in my water again. Ill let you know
  18. And lets hope the zula keeps it's boutique appeal...when I am getting my dual-sus in December that is one of the biggest factors imo and the reason why I am willing to fork out a bit more...same with the chumba, quite a boutique brand. Rouxtjie when you get the Zula the rest of us in St Johns wood gonna have to hide our bikes
  19. Thx! That is the biggest selling point about the Sintesi's! Not for everyone but the rider that wants Italian flair... I know I sound like I work for Merida but the Sintesi frame looks identical to the Merida 96
  20. I think they are great bikes. A few issues for me though 1. No stock at the moment 2. When spending so much money' date=' Im inclined to go for the popular choice, in that I mean not magura and not the in house shock. However, they are fantastic bikes, they really just dont have my size![/quote'] I ride the Magura shock and so does Alban Lakata who rides a Rotwild http://www.rotwild.de/ these bikes are serious machines and are not publicly avalible so I dont think they would kit the top of the range bike out with somehting sub standard. Another interesting fact on the Magura is that is is a mear 20grams heavier than the much coveted SID XX. And I promise you the ride quality of the fork is superb better than a FOX or ROX IMHO. I was also sceptical but it has really turned out to be a winner.
  21. I have done a test I took my Polar GPS sensor and my Gramin GPS (Street pilot) and drove around with both in my car and took it up to 80km/h on the cars speedo and got a reading of +- 74km/h on my polarwhich displayed as 74/km/h on the watch and the Garmin read 75km/h the one that is least trustworthy is the cars speedo attached is the graph.
  22. Cant belive there is such little support for the Merida 96 or the 120 both awesome machines well speced and well priced for R30k you can get a one hell of a bike in the merida range.
  23. O ya is it also water proof so swimming is possible too.
  24. Marius I have the RS800CX PTE and I also have the G3 GPS it can record speeds of up to 199km/h it uses 1 aa battery and has two power consumption modes, full power ofr cluttered areas where signal is weak and half which is the most common one, the gps acts the same way as the sensors do ie they gather data and transmit it to the watch which is the CPU essesntially so depending on what the rec rate you have set on the watch is the amount of memory you have. Once you download to the Pro trainer software you can clear the data and view the route on google earth or Garmin map source, then you can race against your self by resending this data to the watch when you plan to run that route again. It is a superb product and is considered by some to be better than the Garmin devices purely from the quality of the heart rate data avalible.
