  1. When OPC is chasing me down in a race I kick over some of the takkie brigade so that it hinders him more....
  2. Could have a point there, it does feel a bit pogo stickish compared to my bike, OPC having put more thought into it I was never on the brakes there. I will check the tyre pressure again and report back. If there is indeed no fault with the tyre/fork/bike setup then I must go play lawn bowls cos grass burns hurt less than gravel bites.
  3. I had a little high speed lie down at the fast one yesterday. Riding a borrowed bike with Fox RLC fork and Mountain king on the front. I need to blame something else other the me for this fall cos my faithful Rockshox and Monorail would never have let go so badly. I was turning off gravel road onto single track and bang! Down like 80kg bag of feathers.... So tell me is it the Mountain king that is *** or the shock settings or what? What is the ideal pressure for the Mountain king tyre and Fox at my weight? Please don't tell me I was riding like a D**s even if I probably was. I need my equipment to be in optimum settings to make up for any lack of talent. Bye now.
  4. You obviously worded your request badly, below is my request form for the 94.7. They moved me up from group G to D..... ? REASON FOR RESEED REQUEST: I want to ride a 2h30 with my mates in group D. I am a mountain<?: prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" /> biker who has a road bike and did Dome2Dome and Race for Victory for seeding. Unfortunately I started both these races in the last group and pretty much rode alone for the entire time without the help of any bunch riding. ? OTHER DETAILS: I have the legs to ride with this bunch as my two mates who are seeded in this group are fat and hairy and I?d kick their arses any day.
  5. Score!!! After ten minutes of riding you can go find a quiet spot in the bush and beat your mielie off. It'll feel like someone else is doing it!! Otherwise try running your front tyre softer, say 1.8. That helps me.
  6. Ok so you don't have the experience to do the job. I bet you never used that excuse when you finally got some chick drunk enough to pop your cherry. The truth is that a bike "mechanic" is a human being, two arms, two legs, a reasonably functioning brain and a bit of common sense. Hopefully you posess these qualities too with the obvious difference being that you actually give a sh!t about your bike. Put a little effort in and learn a lot. It's easier than riding a bike when you know how. I like the fact that you can make a judgement how I feel about my bike. The question arise, then why do you think I take my bike to a LBS to be serviced.. this is to ensure that my bike is in top notch condition.. this, I spend a lot of money to ensure that nothing is wrong with my bike and well looked after. Just show you the arrogance you have, making a judgement, without knowing the facts. Plus, as a matter of fact, I know the basics of how to repair a bike or change things on a bike.. even being from the opposite sex.. again, making a judgement, that I will make a chick drunk.. just show me what your mentality might be and what you do.. The question arise, why should I service my bike.. isn't why we have LBS?? Why should I waste time if there is someone employed to do the job?? Again, on thehub, you can't voice your opinion.. there is always a person, who knows more.. makes you think.. Let me translate the meaning of what is highlighted in RED. You are just as capable of fixing your bike as the oke at the LBS with the added advantage being that you will actually care about what you are doing. Trusting this clarifies my advice on the matter. Next time if you want to call me a P@#$ just come right out and say it. MBP has a thick skin and has been called worse but I promise MBP will never judge you. If you still want to employ someone to fix your bike then keep taking it back until it is done properly.

  8. In my 200 posts on the Hub () I have said it 1 million times. If you want it done properly, DO IT YOURSELF !!!!!
  9. Go see Brett Sachs. www.bikebay.co.za Maybe think of getting a proper second hand bike then a half proper new bike. Just a thought...
  10. Above is pictures of two hot lesbian mtbikers stripping down and getting it off in the mud
  11. Spend more money, buy a D/S, love life more.
  12. It was either buy "a new toyota" (Raleigh) or "old Porsche 911" (Yeti) Given the abuse dished out I think the former would have fallen to pieces within a year.
  13. I paid R14500 for a Yeti 575 2004 about 3 years ago. My original budget was 10k. It was soooooooo worth the extra 4.5. I'm buying new now but I'll never get rid of old faithful.
  14. Dischem. Too much.
  15. My mate has been given an old D/S Trek frame. It has a Fox rear shock and Manitou Fork. Looks like middle to bottom range stuff. It needs EVERYTHING else. Wheels, groupset, bars, seat, "V" brakes, etc... So not wanting to feed strawberries to swine what components would match this bike? He plans to give this MTB thing a go and if he enjoys it (which he will) he'll upgrade to a better bike at a later stage but I think this will be a good bike to start on.
  16. Bzzzzzzzzz!!!!!!!! Don't make me ask twice !!!
  17. A few new bikes are coming out with this tapered headset. Obviously now a fork with a tapered head tube is needed. My question is this: Is there a sleeve that can be put over a standard fork so that it will fit the tapered headset? If so what does a sleeve like this cost?
  18. If we can fly radio control gliders off the mountain then there it's 2 out of 3 "F"s sorted for the weekend
  19. Yasaaaaaaaaaasssss ! Thats i big wild trout. Monster yellows? Sounds almost too good to be true?
  20. What fish are in the river?
  21. Crack or scratch, it's still a weak point, if you're a fatty it's gonna break, if you're a skinny it's gonna take longer to break. Get my point...?
  22. Hope you not going to be shooting and stealing that mad okes cattle again....
  23. I don't agree about the LBS thing. Unless you got a race coming up soon do it yourself. Use common sense, be meticulous about everything. Do one thing at a time and if you get stuck ask on the hub about one specific thing every day. It is not rocket science. You will learn a lot and in future you wont be at the mercy of your LBS. If it costs you R300 - R400 for the extra tools (BB & Casette) it will be worth it in the long run. Chances are you will get some things wrong but that is the only way you are going to learn anything useful. The other alternative is to take it to a bike shop where they will put some apprentice on your bike to do a half assed job and you will have to take it back 2 or 3 times until its right. So short term it might cost you more to do it yourself, medium term it might be better to get your LBS to do it but long term the knowledge you gain from the experience is worth much more. I do all my own stuff on my bike now and when i didn't know something I asked. It really is not that difficult.
