  1. Isuzu 3 Towers Sappi Mankele Challenge Das Auto series We lost a load of good racing in the Lowveld. Some guys working very hard to bring some events back.
  2. Colour pops nicely after a wash and some Muc-Off Bike Protect! I also think the trail hardtails will be the next big thing. Trek Roscoe 7 was an option too but no stock. It’s rather depressing seeing a 70k dual sus bike with a Rockshox Judy on the front, so for now I’m sticking to hardtails with bigger tyres and forks!
  3. I bought a Big Trail 400 as a bike to get into the game again after taking a break for a while. Coming off of Specialized Epic’s and Merida Big Nine hardtails, this bike feels way more relaxed and suited to my less racy riding I’m going to do now. I also looked at purchasing a trail hardtail through CRC, wasn’t sure of the import duties, and in the end I liked the Merida. Upgraded the fork straight from the showroom floor, will do brakes and discs next and then a 11 speed conversion when the 10 speed 11-46 cassette wears out. Just scary to see what you get for your money now against 4 years ago. Unfortunately a dual sus bike is starting to become unaffordable.
  4. I use a syringe to inject a bit of fork oil on my Manitou Marvel's dust seals... It's a diabetic injection needle... Maybe that is all there is to it...
  5. I ride a QuickRock BB-BSA-24 on my Merida and it's smoother than the double the price RaceFace my friend had on his Rocky Mountain.
  6. I ride my chain and cassette until the chain is worn 0.75. Then I replace the cassette, chain and jockey wheels. Never had to replace my chainrings.
  7. Eish dude. Hope you recover fast. The women's arrogance is astounding. You were 1.5 away from the road and she needs to have a 1.5m gap between you and her. Idiotic driver.
  8. Got a solution to this problem as well. Some heavy duty Loctite 638 Bearing Retainer Compound.
  9. Tuned the damping for R80. Some lightweight Liqui Moly 7.5 wt Racing fork oil. Feels like a new fork.
  10. Ahhh. Thank you.
  11. Why a motorcycle shop?
  12. Where can I find a tuning kit for my Manitou Absolute+ damper in SA? They are on the web, but at prices I can't afford. I don't need the full kit, as I only want to play around with the damping until I get it right, and then use those shims only.
  13. I weigh 78 kg's and I like low pressures. Front tire 1.4 bar/ rear tire 1.8 bar. Can ride basically everything on those pressures.
  14. Onto the circlip and bearing...
  15. I have checked on the web for answers. Seems like all New Mavic's are giving **** regarding play on the freehub axle. I will try and make a crush washer that pushes out onto the circlip and see what that does. Hopefully minimise the amount of play.
  16. I checked it again. Tightening the thru-axle doesn't help. It's definitely the axle bearings preload that needs to be set but there is no way to set it. It only has a circlip and a few washers that keeps the axle in place.
  17. Guys, I bought a brand new Merida Big Nine with Crossrides. I was heavily impressed with the bike until today, after 38 km's, the freehub started to show some play. I opened the hub, but it has no locknuts to aadjust, only a circlip. I then realised that the play is coming from the thru-axle end caps. Any help to solve it? I hate hub play on my bike.
