  1. Thanks Tankman. I do run tubeless - monorail front, rubena scylla rear. The monorail has done 3500+km's. The rear picked up a 2cm cut across the width of the tyre. Have to replace both, or maybe only the front... Is it possible to patch a cut from the inside? The cut hasn't gone through - just enough to have a slow leak. The scylla is still in very good condition. I just heard the Vredesteins are difficult to get on, Bontragers doesn't seal properly on certain wheels, crossmark is heavy, conti's are way too expensive...
  2. Hi everyone. I have heard so many conflicting stories. Is it true that only certain tubeless mtb tyres go with certain mtb wheels? Heard about problems getting them on/off. Leaking problems. I have a set of deore xt wheels. Are there any tyres I should stay away from? Thanks for the insight. Much appreciated!
  3. Next? What about the "rant over rant"-club? LOL Ja, seems people are ranting over the smallest nonsense. Not even to mention making their own decisions.
  4. Thanks. A platform carrier is a little (okay, a lot) out of my price range. I have the normal carrier in mind - the one where the bikes are hanging. Something like the Menabo Marius or the Holdfast snap-on. Can't drop the seats everytime I go out with the mtb - want to join a club for club rides, but need to drive there.
  5. Hi all I am looking for new insights regarding 2/3-bike carriers? I have a Polo Tdi hatch. Have been looking at Holdfast and Menabo carrying 2 or 3 bikes, connecting via the towbar ball. What are your impressions/experiences about these two? Are there others available? I don't want to fix something permanently to the towbar. Thanks a mil for the insight
  6. Apologies for the hijack - then what can sweatsafe be seen as? Not medical aid? Gap cover? Insurance? I am in a sticky situation that forces me not to have medical aid (have instated Labour court action against previous employer. Don't ask...) What will sweatsafe cover?
  7. Perhaps thehub was hacked by some australian geek working for al'qaeda? Hmm, I smell a conspiracy theory
  8. I didn't know there is a trail up there. Maybe the guys from Maniyak are responsible? Just a small note - it would be Magaliesberg. Magaliesburg is another town...
  9. I saw a group of MTB'ers leaving Harties this morning. Do anyone have details on the group? What time do they normally leave? The distances they go? Novice or pro's? May I join? Thanks
  10. Great, thanks everyone. Yeah, the lazy officials (just joking!) have to earn their keep somehow, nè... I was just thinking out loud - want him to get me some apparel (bibs, shirts, etc). But if its not worth the hassle, I'll just drop it Thanks again
  11. When do 'they' charge import tax/any other levy when receiving a parcel from oversees? I have a relative in Europe. Want him to send me some cycling-related stuff. If he sends me a 'present', will I have to pay import tax? Any other levies applicable? Thanks for the info.
  12. I personally do not think any mtb'er wants to see a race cancelled/"destroyed" - there already are only a few available. Yesterday was my third Babba's - and by far the most difficult due to all the sand. You could never push yourself on the straights and downhills, the sand and "trenches" from all the rain made it just too dangerous. My opinion - the organizers should remember such an event has a lot to do with 'consumerism'. The riders want to consume proper drinks and food afterwards. That includes the spectators also. Anyway, my bit
  13. Ja ek hoor jou. . Did the 30 (supposed 35). Came off the bike a few times . . Eina! Also wanted a cooldrink at the finish - did not expect to have it served in a cup. My concern is the sand on the downhill sections - very dangerous. A guy came off at speed in front of me. Looked like a broken clavicle. Also R130 is becoming bit too much for a 30km
  14. I stand to be corrected - The 70 starts normally @ 8am. The 35 around 10min later, and the rest so on.
  15. Solomons also stock them. Perhaps get details from them
  16. Hi to all This question is for the guys riding Craft. I bought my first Craft Performance bib today. I have previously used Vermarc - but they are now out of my price range. Anyway, upon trying on the Craft I can't help but to notice the difference in the height of the padding on the front compared to vermarc. Should the padding come up so low? And, the material used seems to be somewhat hard. Should the bib be washed before being used the first time? Thanks for the opinion
  17. 'Physical address' in Bryanston, Jo'burg (without specific street number) and landline in Durban? Maybe...
  18. Now that is seriously stupid. At 62 . . What a cracker
  19. I haven't spoken to Clive yet about possibly taking it over. It would be best to discuss it with him. At this stage I am only thinking out loud. The area here needs a mtb race (other than Hakahana, van Gaalen and Redstone) Thanks
  20. @Talus (apologies - running the forum from my phone..) Well, firstly, I want to ride it. Then, maybe resurrect the event. I am on a property close by where the race was held. I am trying to build a singletrack that will link-up to the voriberg route. Do any one know if a particular route/race belong to someone (i.e registered in a person's name/own the rights..)
  21. Where can I find a printable map for the VoriBerg route? Thanks
  22. Unfortunately the roads in Pretoria are some of the worst to be training on. The only answer is MTB - stay away from the tar. Here are a few mtb trails (hazeldean/tijgerpoort east of pta, voriberg north of pretoria, hakahana west of pta). Just not safe on tar anywhere in SA - taxis, muggings, jackings. Wherever you do go, will be best if you ride in a group.
  23. Wow, some guys are really touchy. I fail to see how this guy's post threatens any one's existence. Then, roadies are full of it...
  24. Little further away is Cyclelab in Lynnwood (at the LynnBridge Mall). The manager has the place in lockdown so tight is his hand on the shop
