Agree with Vivster on the spares... We went through 2*chains/ 1*tyres/ 2*cables through the Epic

Congrats!! One small thing, watch those chain rings on the xtr (xtra rands) crank...they are frickin expensive to replace

I run mine at just over 2 bar, also if I am doing a race with a lot of sand, I run them a little softer. Stans/Joes Change my lube every 3 months.

I read a good artical that was in the Ride Mag last month ( I think or some other bike mag?) Epic costs +- R57k ALL IN per rider, including training races/spares/etc etc and a WHOLE LOT OF EXTRAS...OUCH!! Did it this year on a Hardtail and loved it! DId it the year before on a Dual sus and also loved it...So I guess choose your ride to what you enjoy. My 2c

Conti...go with 2.2 Maxxis/kenda's go with 2.1 karma/geax barro mountains 2.0/1 maybe at the back and a 2.3 on the front when it comes to muddy condtions my 2c

The main problem is JHB races are so roadie style compaired to KZN and Cape races...Up here we have races that are either grass cut single track or spams of jeep/district road riding (BORING) Bring on more technical/challenging course in JHB...PLEASE!!!

I used Chamois Butter at the Epic and Non-stop and found it to be brilliant, a lot better then previous products I had used!

Both trying to be speed freaks...Shame!

Buy parts and you fine on the duties, don't buy clothes...thats where they nailed me with import duties!

In all respect and I am glad you made it through all 3 horrible accidents, but think its time to take up mtb or a different sport...and give up road riding!
