Defending Champion Daryl Impey retained his National Time Trial title for 2017 as he crossed the finish with the fastest time of 49 minutes and 14.782 seconds in the Elite Men’s category along the 39.8-kilometre course; and Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio impressed everyone as she got back onto her Time Trial bike for the second time after her cycling accident last year to ride away with the fastest Elite Women’s time of 38:10.896 along the 27.1km route at the 2017 SA National Road Championships in Wellington, Western Cape, on Thursday 9 February.   5. Ashleigh Moolman-Pasio got her season underway in the best possible way by winning the South African individual time trial championships today. The title is Moolman-Pasio’s fourth elite national time trial gold medal after previous successes in 2015, 2014 and 2013. Click here to view the article
  6. Why would someone travel over 11,000 kilometres from his home in Austria to the Atacama region in Chile just to career down a mountain on a bike? For a world record, of course! 42-year-old Austrian downhill biking expert Max Stöckl achieved just that by cycling down the gravel on his standard mountain bike after years of preparing for the feat. His V-Max project came to fruition with a speed of 167,6 km/h being recorded around midday on 13 December 2016 on the 1200-metre long slope.
