I'm 1.79 and 104kg and run a 50/34 with a 11/28. Lighter than that you dont need. Just keep on training and you'll be flying up those hils in no time !! I'm also working hard at shedding a few kg's before the Argus. Less weight makes a huge difference up the hills !

there were some pics up on Sunday eve.. they've mysteriously dissapeared...

I only ask because one of my team mates gave me an ENO sachet yesterday just before the last 4 climbs on the DC yesterday. She had heard from medics that's what they give patients who are cramping. Just before that I was starting to cramp. After the ENO it defenitely went away.

Has anyone heard of using ENO's to deal with cramps?

We raced a mixed team of 12 which included 3 very string ladies !! The sole objective of the entire group was for all of us to finish.. which we did in just under 8 hours simply because we supported each other through every pedal stroke along every km...

I'll take a raffel ticket.

Thanks for sharing this Stratus5 - the lawlessness in South Africa has reached epidemic proportions. My take out is to be as alert as one can be on a bike because you'll never know when a taxi decides to out of the blue and ruin a perfectly good day !!

I have a set of Mavic Aksium Elite's which are about 2.5 years old. The soke are starting to rust. Is it work having them re-spoked or shud I just buy a new wheelset. There's nothing wrong with the wheels they run fine.

Great News G Man. We often do a Saturday morning ride up to Malanshoogte, down to the dairy and then a time trial back up again. Now that the section past the dairy is going to be tarred we can just carry straigt on and not have to endure the climb back up to the top of Malanshoogte How you you doing Gino? so I have to get a 9 speed chain then ??

I have a Shimano 105 brand new crank. I recently upgraded my chain to a brand new 10 speed Ultegra chain. I have a 53-39 crank and a 13-25 cassette. When I fitted the chain I found to too long when on the 39-25 gear selection. I think I have a 9 speed instead of a 10 speed ... because it works fine after removing 3 links.. I realise I actually have a 9 speed .....
