  1. Don't have DSTV anymore.....
  2. OK, surviving ride then.
  3. Planning on doing a training ride in the Vaal area on 5 July 2008. Vanderbijlpark via Ertjies Berg to Parys and then back to the Vanderbijlpark. Anyone interested to join. Works out to about 125km. Will probably stop in Parys for a nice breakie. Gonna be an easy ride. ewep2008-06-30 12:03:01
  4. I'm trying to get to search for a previous ride. I know I've entered the route in the Description field. Is there a way to search all rides for this? And how do I search in general in Pro Trainer?
  5. My experience Front derailleur has not given me any major hassle. BUT, it does take a lot of time to get the shifting JUST right. Also does not shift that well under pressure. Might change the front der to Force at some stage. My rear der only needed frequent adjustment while the cables were new. After that, no problem. The SRAM Red grouppo is, in my opinion, YEARS ahead of what is currentlyon the market (and better looking than the new Dura-Ace and Record!)
  6. Ox Wagon asked nicely, so here they are: (DISCLAIMER: 1. All statements are made comparing these wheels to what I've used, so DON'T tell me "but Zipps are soooo much better" 2. The statements are not sientific provable) Fulcrum Racing 1 Wheelset Pro's: Lateral Stiffness. Looks. Con's: Price of freehub bodies. The Racing 1's are my "racing" (if what I do can be called that) wheels. I've raced/rode with the old Ksyriums as well as the newer Ksyrium Elite's and Easton Accent II, but these wheels have less lateral movement when I climb standing than the others. The biggest problem though is the pricing of the freehub bodies. R1k minimum for a freehub body is a bit harsh, but I chose to buy the wheels..... O ja, and these wheels are the best looking wheels in this price range, PERIOD!!!! P.S. Comparing the Racing 1's to the Racing 0's would give you a weight saving of 115grams, so paying and the extra R1k-R2k was just not worth it to me. Summary: Very good racing wheels. Designed by Campy, but with a "neutral" branding made these wheels a very attractive option for me. Would not swop for any other wheelset currently in the same price range. Fulcrum Racing 7 Wheelset Pro's: Great day-to-day wheels, although not as "stiff" as the Racing 1's. Price!! Con's: Weight (if you're a weight weenie). Looks (compared to other wheels in the same price range). Cost of freehub bodies. I bought these at the decent price of R2000 and did not expect much after riding with Mavic Ksyrium Equips (like riding a piece of electrical wire, lekker floppy). What a surprise. Once again the lateral stiffness (standing on climbs causing wheels to rub against brake pads) was surprising! As for strength, well, as I'm not the lightest of the hubbers (I'm probably one of the heavy weights) I must say that these wheels are surprising me daily!!! Last week I had the unfortunate joy of hitting 3 decent sized potholes. Fortunately I wasn't going that fast, but the wheels are still as true as the day I bought them. The hubs are still great as well, even though they have experienced quite a few wet rides. Unfortunately the downside (once again) is the cost involved in swopping out the freehub bodies. Paying R800-R1k for a freehub body on a R2k set of wheels is a bit harsh. Summary: GREAT training/very entry level wheels. Wheels are very strong. If you however want both training AND racing wheels all rolled into one skip, the Racing 7's and look at the Racing 5's/Racing 3's. Pics can be seen here: www.fulcrumwheels.com
  7. OK, how could I get the policy wording?
  8. Gummie and madmarc, what's their excess percentages, etc? And do they cover for the bike being stolen from a bike rack?
  9. madmarc, the sister has her car insured through them and up to now (2 accidents later) we've had no problems whatsoever. Don't know about theft though.....
  10. Flippen hel!!!!!
  11. Baie geluk!!! Have a BEAUTIFUL day and let that vetgat spoil you rotten!
  12. stm, just saw, ouch bud, hope you're not too sore. Some advice, take an anti-inflammatory tonight before bed ok. Secondly, you won't be able to do jack about it. I've tried, and only the Road Accident Fund guys are willing to "try as bicycle cases are not clear cut". Even the cops told me that "everyone makes mistakes". So take it easy for now, and recover!

  14. OK, my take: You crash a bike (Carbon, Ti, Alu or Steel in a decent crash) and the structural integrity (don't know if the technical mumbo-jumbo is correct) is stuffed. I will not ride it after that!!!Yes, I wrote off a Ti frame, but I do think that if I was on my 'dale I would've had more serious injuries, i.e. cuts, etc., from the break in the carbon. The Ti was bent, but did not shatter! Ti is nice, but as JB says, it's a "status" thing. When buying a bike I would rather look at the frame geometry than just the "material". Why: I rode a Ti Colnago. The bike had a more relaxed geometry than my other bikes, so on long days I had a more relaxed ride with less "road stress" on the body. But the bike didn't feel as "nippy" as the 'dale in bunches. The 'dale on the other hand is twitchy but has a more radical geometry. The System6 is more bumpy on the road (same wheel set as on the Colnago). So looking at this I think an Alu frame will allow more road "noise" to rise through the metal than the Ti. (the System6 has a alu rear triangle). The System6 is much easier to climb with while standing than the Colnago, once again, frame geometry. Finally, if both the geometries are EXACTLY the same, and you want "something else" then go for Ti.
  15. Litespeed. Prefer the Ti ride to Carbon....
  16. Agree with ZeroCool on the Gatorskins!!!! Spidey and his GP4000's are great as well, but not as puncture resistant and for a fatty like me that counts a lot! Maxiss Xenith Hors Categorie Not a bad tyre, but very bad puncture resistant (seems like a very soft rubber compound). Got limited mileage on the tyres.
  17. He's got some sort of virus....syphelous something....forgot the name.... So he'll be out of action for a while I hear. And besides.....we want to keep Groenkloof single track....If he pitches' date=' it's going to be expanded to jeep track. [/quote'] O jissie, you better watch yourself!!!!!! I might just make sure that I use you to break a fall or 2, and then it's OVER!!!! If we both rock up, we may need the highway They were talking about new trails and stuff. They also needed some stuff done about 3km south of Otjiwarongo.

  19. Hey pansie. If you through that off' date=' you could save some weight on the bike!!! Hell knows....you could use some saving...... [/quote'] I know, I know (I are pansy and I are FAT!!)
  20. Have one in both 9 speed MTB and 10 speed road bike chains. Makes life easy....
  21. nochain, problem with all the races are that my work commitments have tripled these last few weeks!!! So I need to fit everything in (and it clearly is NOT working!)
