  1. Thank you - that makes sense 😀
  2. At the front? And it has Disks already with dedicated mounts
  3. That thought occurred but they would need to be the opposite side. Plus would a high end manufacturer put that on a Carbon frame?
  4. 2 screws under the front of the chainstay on a Storck carbon frame?
  5. Definitely a day to sort out the selfish from those who care about others. Yes it's sad but if 35000 riders endanger one persons life then it should not happen. Is a finishing medal worth somebody dying for?
  6. Did you get anywhere? We are in Wynberg and starting at 06:58 I know it's an hour later but I am waiting gto start with my wife. I also don't havea tandem rack and we expect to be a slow time but let me know if it's any help?
  7. This is exactly the point of the question. They say we are individually timed but there are clearly errors in the system. In this case I provide photo evidence that it's wrong but all they do is change one. Personally I think they should explain how it works and where the errors come in.
  8. They have just uploaded the pictures and you can just see one other wheel besides us on the two mats. We were both riding so even if not fast it was certainly not slow.
  9. Recent events in Tokai have made us think more about riding with the kids. Certainly we don't want to stop but we want them to be safe. I am looking at personal alarm (often sold as a rape alarm) that we can puton their bikes and they pull a cord or press a button to generate a stupidly loud alarm if they end up in a "bad situation". I can find different designs but wondering if anyone knows of one that mounts well on a bike?
  10. This is my reply from Racetec, they either did not get the question or deliberately ignored it. "Good day David I trust my email finds you well Kindly notet hat I have amended the results and it should reflect correctly in the morning" I have replied again to point out that the question was how does it happen? On this one I don't care but if somebody is racing and gets 25 seconds behind their nearest competitor does that mean they may have been faster? Like I said I don't care, the racetec app had me 40 seconds faster, the website had my wife 20 seconds faster. (For the record although holding hands I tried to hold marginally behind her) My issue is not the 20-30 seconds but it's unusual to have it this solid to show it's wrong, if one is that far out how many can be relied upon? BTW we started togather, crossed the start mates togather, crossed the finish mats togather and crossed the backup mats side by side.
  11. Just wondering the general feeling on Racetec accuracy? I never thought to question it by my wife did the Argus for the first time this year and I rode with her. We started in the same group and rode over the finish holding hands for the photo. Racetec have us 29 seconds apart. On this one I really don't care but it makes you wonder. If you are seriously racing then a 29 second error factor is massive.
  12. not advise as I can't offer any but: I am mid 40's I am new to riding I am doing my first Argus this year I ride a 26" mountain bike on slicks I will be using it for the Argus. so if you go for the cheap option you won't be alone, probably ahead of me though asI am offshore for the six weeks preceeding which somewhat limits training. If it helps I ride the MTB as it was a very good buy, full carbon and I am not small at 6'4" so need a strong bike. I have an old (and I mean old) Dawes road bike I was going to use until this came up. I like the mountain bike: I will get shot down in flames on this forum but at my age and fitness the upright position is easier on my back and I can soften the forks for decents, again easier on the body. I realise it is not so fast but is the Argus really a race or a ride? OK it's timed and I don't want to embarass myself but maybe more of the experienced people should stop worrying about their seedimg and saving a few seconds and encourage the inexperienced instead of complaing about them? There areplenty of good races during the year, keep this one as an event.. So if its your first time you are probably starting near me, PA. lke I said I dont want to embarass myself but I don't want to spoil the Experience by worrying too much. one final point - my MTB came with bar ends, if you don't have them maybe try? I find them very good on the hard climbs - and to me pretty much any climb is hard!
