  1. Andy I will take those old Bontragers off your hands for R 275, then you're sorted for this one. Argus this year was R 240. Anyone knows what the 94.7 entry fee's were last year? We have to remember that the Argus and 94.7 are the race organisers "oes tyd" , because of number of entries. That is why they hike up the fees to this level, and 20 000 odd of us fall for it.
  2. Well said Mampara
  3. You've lost me Remember that the entries for 94.7 opens tmrw morning. Dont forget to enter!!
  4. Dont you mean the first 20k's of the real ride?
  5. As I likewise did !! Plenty of spare tubes in the car also!!
  6. How dare you take my status away from me I would never dream of doing that WW, that is why I did not call myself Queen , but queenie. Only one QOM!
  7. Ox shouldnt forget that he will get his day of reckoning for the pain he caused others
  8. Forgot to add - if that weather does not drive me to the doc and some "cough syrup" - I dont know what will!
  9. Can't say that I have ever been that cold on a ride, but it lasted for about 18k's then the mercury slowly crept up to 7 degrees. Ave temp for the ride 8 degr. Humbling experience riding with you guys though. Climbing gods if I ever saw some My back is certainly reminding me today that we ascended 985m on that 73 odd k's. A "Cool" ride nonetheless, and how nice to meet some great fellow hubbers. To all that was part of it, thanks a stack. My life is richer for it today!
  10. Ox - I have arranged a driver and will make my vehicle available to follow the group for back up, discarding clothes, to leave some eats and drinks or extra clothing. Will have bike rack and foot pump.
  11. Training is for training. I have the WWRR as a training ride? Or has an entrance fee been charged that I am not aware of? Racing supposed to be for racing (although Slave is a pre-programmed racing machine) This is a Ox organized group ride, so yes, we will wait to regroup when needed (as we did on heidelberg trek not so long ago) that way even I will be able to say I managed to ride with these guys and gals for 100k's. Gonna be something for the CV! How cold is today?!
  12. BTDT didn't get a T-shirt. Always willing to pop in again. The one I wouldn't mind having a go at is Comaro' date=' havn't done that yet. Did Butchers on the way back from the Fast One the last 2 years, it hurts when you already have 170km in the legs. [/quote'] A Slave - you really think we should consider riding with these people. They seem to be in a totally different class bud. We are outclassed here. We need to take a hike while we still can. No help crying afterwards.
  13. Either way it feels much worse than what these stats portray. And it hurts.
  14. Andy How long is that last climb & what is gradient in comparison to the first one?
  15. I always do , dont I?
  16. Slave, not too worry - the 94.7 isnt actually 94.7 k's, more like 91 or something. So this 94 is already over distance, and its still 5 months away - ample time to train that extra 700 m's.
  17. Ox, please just remember, some of us only have saturday to complete this I dont mind doing the 110, if I can still sit upright on my bike, I will ride - till the end
  18. Would love 2 BB, but as you know its the WWRR on Sat. Besides that I would feel better to ease into the MTB thing, rather than go ride for 4 hrs for the first time. Have to ensure bike set up is right, gears work ok etc.. Keep me posted, will join in near future - sounds a nice ride that one. OK let me know, if you just maybe feel up to it there is also the option on Sunday I will be out at 7 doing a 40k out and back MTB (towards Heineken brewery then to Walkerville) under 2 hours and no technical stuff that I can think of ..... Sorry BB, this sunday I have another committment , involves no cycling though. Will have to pass on the invite. But that sounds like the type of ride I need to start with.

  20. Arent all girls on bikes wearing pink(or any other colours for thast matter) hot? Oops no - just remembered one I saw recently at Fountains, I think she prob weighed more than Slave and me combined. That wasnt too hot, but her tyres were red hot when we passed her - not too sure why?
  21. Ill give my take on it after my first MTB ride. All I can say at this stage is that on the road it can be pretty easy if you just suck wheel, but that also depends on the group you are riding with. If you are prepared to do your bit it is mega tough.
  22. My first choice would be 6:30 start, but happy to go with the majority decision. Its gonna take about 3:15-20
