It is common practice in the corporate world, to have annual/bi-annual or quartely merit appraisal discussions. How would it be if all of your teams results gets circulated to everyone wfterwards , with the comments posted next to their names. In a normal world the culprit wil certainly be seriously reprimanded/fired.

Come on, whatever someone thought of your performance is not for public viewing. The cyclist should be consulted in person ,and given the facts. This way is the way of cowards. They cannot say it to the people in their faces, so use this way of doing it. How pathetic. I would be so so pissed of if it was me. CSA is not the media, they can write and speculate about performances as part of their job, but this is just so ridiculous. What next? BTW Has CSA commented on the Impey incident at all?

In defence of CC, they are very good with getting results up. Past sunday , it was up within 3/4 hours after the race. I was impressed with that. WT/Racetec - takes forever, if youre lucky they have it up by monday morning But I know that's not what you want to hear. What crap about the mounting of the chip, why do they supply it with a velcro strap then??????????? I see lotsa people wearing it around the ankles.

Rod The easy way to remember is that it loosens towards the chain/towards the cassette, and then "obviously" fastens in opp direction. 15 spanner will work well, just make sure it doesnt slip. Allen key could be a real knuckle buster if the pedals are slightly tight.

I suppose because everything else is so expensive. Playing sport, or having a hobby, eating, drinking, working, school fees, - everthing is way too expensive. Try a roudn of golf, or buy your kid a cricket kit from scratch, running shoes @ R 1000 pp. Doesnt stop, def not just bicycles. You pay what you can afford, or pay for what you want - even if you cannot afford it. I bought a cheap bike (R 10 500) - I started paying a deposit in Nov 07, paid off until April last year, when only I could take delivery. Only way I could do it, but the wait was worth it. I dont need carbon or titanium - for now!!

I have my eye on a Giant Yukon MTB, it has disc brakes, Shimano Deore groupset, not sure about the rims. R 6500 Is this bike any good? Can I possibly buy something similar , or better for less? Should I wait for something to be advertised on the hub?, or is new better? Basically will be using it to ride as an alternative to road training, so not for everyday use. Probably also be doing 1/2 MTB races per year? Be kind now hubbers and give me some sound advice.

Magoo - where can I get one of those cycling shirts that have pockets so close to your mouth, or front pockets for you to be able to see it falling out of yr pocket when you got out of the car? JB mentioned he witnessed you sucking the gel sachet dry before tossing it? The one JB(he) picked up, must then have been empty? Why carry empty sachets in yr pockets, or was it there from the previous ride? I dont wanna judge, but you seem to be in the wrong here Greg. Or is this the way that Whasp wants to do their marketing? If so, I would suggest that you rather leave empty sachets lying around.

Rodti - no need to explain my interest/lack thereof to you or anyone. It annoys me that we wanna bitch about everything. Look at the threads that gets started, the bulk of it is someone (and I do not exclude myself) bitching about something. For the life of me , I cannot understand why people would wanna support an industry where everything is so bad, and negative as it is made out to be. If someone dares to say something positive, he/she would be slanted or attacked. Look at the post about the Vasbyt. The most posts on there is of a negative nature, someone says the race was good, and everyone attacks him. We all have different opinions, as we all have different experiences - eg the person who said the latest Bicycling was a nice read in his opinion - of races, equipment etc.. I for one enjoyed the Argus this year immensely - purely for the fact that it was so hard, no place for anyone who didn't train properly. For the bulk of the entrants, it was possibly the worst experience of their lives. Crucify me now for enjoying it? Doesn't make sense, and sort of negates everyon'e democratic right to an opinion. In an earlier post on this thread, I suggested that the hubbers who are unhappy, email the ed Mike Finch with their comments and opinions. Maybe, just maybe he can use that to better the mag. That was my original point, and it still is. If we only bitch and moan, and do nothing, what does that bring about? For me the fact that I bitched and did nothing defies the purpose somewhat.

The thread was originally about Bicyciling April edition, now I see Ride is being mentioned also as being bad, but earlier on in the thread it was good and much better?????!!!!! Make up yr minds As for the comments on the business related issues eg, budgets, staff compliments, etc. I suggest you get yr facts straight before making such misinformed comments. Not only is it in bad taste, but shows lack of understanding of the publishing business. I agree with Holy - pm Tim and ask him what's up.

I agree if something sucks , say it, but be brave enough to also say it to the ed, or to the mags publisher - OR someone who can actually do something about it. Take the trouble to engage in communication with them if you feel so strong about the quality - that is all I was saying. Some hubbers just have the ability/inclination to be negative about everything. We have choices, why read it if you think its sh*t, you have an option. You also have an opportunity to tell them they suck - if enough people tell them that they will at least get a chance to fix it or close down

Jenni - maybe if you responded two months ago, when this thead was still active, it would have been appreciated much more. The fact is, if you were the customer , as we are in this instance, I'm sure you would have felt the same. The other issues you raised were suggestions, and comments about races in general, and how to improve them for everyone involved. It costs a lot of money to enter a race, then you expect value for money. A couple of essentials is neccesary to guarantee that you got value for money. I dont remember anyone slanting the race organization, it was all about the issue of the prize money not being paid timeously. I agree with Porky , to hold back funds, in case someone is caught doping etc, is a bit far fetched. Surely steps can be taken to get the money out of the perpetrators - why let the guys/girls who need that money to survive, suffer because of a maybe? Doesnt sound right to me.

Guys, maybe a good idea is to put these thoughts on a mail to teh new ed. I'm sure he would appreciate all feedback he can get at this stage. He's not just a runner by the way, and besides that, why cant he be given an opp to prove himself in bettering the mag from what it is now. He didnt do a bad job with RW did he?
