  1. Eish I purchased a MTB recently - in fact I only got it on Fri. Havent yet ridden it except for a few laps round the front garden when I got home. Now I am so frightened of this tough cr@p I have gotten myself into, I will have to post in classifieds. Brand new - done 100m's- Silverback Alpine XL Tubeless conversion Shimano pedals Bar ends, and I'll also throw in the remainder of the sealant I got back from LBS. Bargain buy!! Why if this thing is so difficult is it one off or the fastest growing sport around? I see plenty people enjoying it, they in no shape at all (ok - round is a shape too). Isnt the degree of difficulty/enjoyment directly linked to the fitness, pace you raide, skills you have, where you ride? On the road it certainly is.
  2. Slave - my suggestion for the "race" would be to use a race such as 94.7 as an official Westrand vs Southern plebs race. Its normally done on the hub with Argus and 94.7, between the brothers and sisters from Slaapstad and the Northern territory. This way its way fairer, and the training rides can be just that, and not a race........ But if you wanna race them, go for it, I dont think its fair to them though, you will kick serious butt, and they might not want to join our rides again after that.
  3. No prob, let me get the hang of it and we can go do whatever tickles your fancy will do some "training" rides in Rietvlei first with some old buds, but mainly the idea is to compliment the road training with some off road stuff. my only x-country experience is on 2 legs, so no kamikaze round wheelstuff yet. I did ride lotsa motocross races with my old bomber way before my 13th birthday couple years ago
  4. That was my take on it also, I think i'll rather give it a miss. Just thought seeing as its only 30 k's , would be cool to start off with, but it will most likely be the first time on the bike, unless I do some riding on it next week, which I very much doubt. Would also be pretty devastating to be lapped 4 times!!
  5. So OX2 and your WW cronies, with this monster ride on the 27th in my legs, will I be able to ride the MTB XC thingy at the bike park the next day? I see the old toppies will be riding 5 laps of the 5.8 k loop, so a td under 30k's. You gonna kill us , or will I be able to take a chance on both? It will also be one of the first rides on the MTB, that I will only be getting this weekend! Is this wise or not? Maybe I should just forget the 28th altogether?
  6. Guys, lets be honest here. Beating the All Whites 2-0. Wow!. Means nothing - they never attacked, never looked like scoring , Barker said halftime, they offer absolutely nothing. How Spain only managed 5 goals against them is surprising. I think they are 10/12 places below SA on the ranking list! These clowns need to realize that they are nowhere near as good as they believe they are, wanting R 30 mill or something stupid if they win, etc.... Just ludicrous. The game against Spain will be an eye opener. Its a bunch of prima donna's, and we are so gullible believing that they are up to it. Sorry, I dont buy it.
  7. BB - guess you are right. Just hope the rest of the gang reads this and take note..........
  8. Can someone please explain to me what the diff is between these two MTB disciplines? The way I understand it, is: - Marathon distance would be longer (what dist would qualify as marathon?) - Marathon the laps would be much longer - Marathon is less technical?? - XCountry - shorter laps, more technical singletrack riding Thank you in advance
  9. I'm in the same boat as you Kevin. Want to explore the MTB thing as an extra to the road scene. Just purchased the Alpine, will hopefully get it this weekend. I am having the tubeless conversion done also. A friend of mine has one, and I believe its good value for money, not the lightest, but surely cheap and durable.
  10. So are you gonna tell us who the scammer is?

  14. how dare you slant me like that in public that is suppose to be confidential info!!!!!!!!!!!!!! now frickin no-one is gonna want to ride with me , if your seeding isnt lower than 10, you are nathing bru, nathing besides that the 36 means stuff all, start doing some races, and you will see it coming down faster than the twin towers 12 Jan 09 - 32.41 14 Apr 09 - 20.84
  15. The okes from that estabishment are like Prawns I tell you, like prawns...... They all have a bit of a funny side to 'em also, I mean, 5 years without any female co in school? not my cuppa
  16. Frosty, German,Porky We are clearly not talking about the same thing here. I was talking about riders buying racing licences, that otherwise would not even get a seeding in the "e" bunch or lower in a race. I was not talking abot riders getting dropped of the pace, big diffs guys......
