  1. Looks a good bike! What about a Giant XTC? Or a Momsen SL729? Or a Merida Big.Nine?
  2. Hello, Welcome to MTB! Found a bike you are interested in yet? There are some great second hand bikes in the Classifieds here. Good luck!
  3. That's very cool! I've had a look at one, and I'm tempted.
  4. Momsen. Always :-) Onto my third one now!
  5. Mad skill!
  6. Hahaha! It is something I have toyed with! Do I need anything to do that conversion? thanks for the answer.
  7. Hello, I have just taken delivery of a new hardtail alloy frame, the AL829 from Momsen Bikes. I had a dual suspension frame I recently sold, and I have a full Shimano XT groupset. The thing is, it is a direct mount front derailleur. The new hardtail frame isn't... How do I go about solving this? Thanks!
  8. That is one very beautiful frame and design!
  9. It is nothing different. All you need to do is stipulate to the organiser the charity you are riding for, and they take care of the rest. For all the details and info you'll need, please e-mail Terry at: terry@foskb.co.za. Your help WILL be greatly appreciated!!
  10. Hello, I am helping out the Leopard Conservation Project, and they're doing an excellent job in conserving, protecting relocating and researching our big cats. The best part is that the "Leopard Man" Fred Berrange is a mountain biker and cyclist. If you're riding the 94.7, why not join this "team" in raising awareness for their cause? See their website here: http://www.leopardcon.co.za. They currently have 20 riders listed, but if they have 50 signed up by the end of March the Leopard Conservation Project will receive R50,000! Their humble aim is to have 150 riders for this year's 94.7, up from the 40-or so in 2013. For more details, please e-mail terry@foskb.co.za. I'm in. Are you?
  11. Thanks guys. I took it to my LBS and it was my bearings that seized. I have Sun Ringle Dirty Flea hubs. The bearings were wear and tear damaged and wee replaced for R250. Now the bikes rides so smoothly again.
  12. Thanks fanievb. I have 10 thumbs when it comes to bike repairs... I've booked it in at my LBS to sort it out tomorrow. I cannot fathom how it happened or was upset. It rode perfectly fine on the weekend, and now it is sticking. Sucks. Thanks for your input.
  13. Shameful behaviour. And it has caused a LOT of damage to all our reputations, sadly. :-(
  14. Hello, I've got a "sticky" front axle, and the wheel is difficult to rotate. Spinning the wheel freely - off the bike - it rolls smoothly and noiselessly. Once I put the wheel in place and lock the axle in place, the wheel is difficult to spin. If I loosen the axle a bit, the wheel spins normally. But, then it is loose and not safe to ride. What could be the problem?
  15. WOW! Trickle-down awesomeness!

    Gumtree Classics

Funny thread! In my local paper, I came about a bike advert last month. Will find it and post here soon. It was, I remember because I could never forget it, read like this: "1990s classic mountain bike. Needs new saddle. Needs new tyres. Needs new tubes. Needs new handlebar. Goes very fast. Rides like a dream. Call XXXX."
