  1. Go for the Shimanos. Bulletproof. Avoid race lites at all costs. I got a set on a Trek 5000 a few years back. I weigh 95kg. Kept popping spokes. Gave them away to a mate, who ways 80kg. He had a cracked rim shortly after this.
  2. After the road ride you will have difficulty driving your car, never mind riding your MTB ;-)
  3. There like a bear! Forecast is clear for Sunday. Should be a sweet ride :-))
  4. Bravo Contador! Yesterday's stage was certainly one of my favourites of the year. Right up there with Boonen at Paris-Roubaix. Conti has shown guts and fortitude attacking Purito day after day. Yesterday's break was worthy of Merckx. Conti took the risks and got the reward. A joy to watch!

Tough day, mate. Got gippo guts in the early hours and spent most of the night up. Got a late start. Had to return home to get the bag with my helmet and shoes in. I was about 10km from home in Fairland when I realized my mistake. I got going again at 705. GL was due to set off at 727. To add to the dog's breakfast, one of my bottles filled with Epic Pro soaked my bag, jersey, phone, pump, etc. After some kerazee driving got to the line as my group left. Time trialled most of the first 70km, averaging 35km/h. Then came the inevitable bonk. Did the last 23km in about an hour! Finished a little shy of sub-three. Riding so far down is an excellent training tactic which I heartily recommend ;-))

Those speed humps near Tarlton are really dangerous. We had chaos in our bunch on the Wilro in April. Today it was worse. Bottles galore, and riders on the deck. Knowing what was to come, I slowed our bunch down, and there were no incidents. The marshaling did not seem to be effective.

Just got a late entry. GL :-( Couldn't get seeded any higher for love or money (just kidding). Any hubbers riding in GL and looking for sub-3?
  15. Thanks. Yip, much warmer than last month. Summer's coming! My polar had a low of 0 deg C and a high of 33 deg C yesterday. Quite a range of temperature!
  16. Congrats on your 1st 200! We flew to H'burg without incident. The wind slowed us down on the H'burg-Eikenhof stretch. Impala and Butcher's Hill were tough coming as they did at the end of a tough day out.
  17. PM your email address, and I'll send you directions. Ride starts at 0700 at 61 Berg st, Belgravia.
  18. Thanks, mate. Hope you feeling better.
  19. Sounds about right. Keen to crack on and get in early. Will see who's riding and how we get on.
  20. COYS! What sort of pace you planning on riding at?
  21. Going to do the Henley-3 Rivers-H'burg option. What sort of pace you planning on riding at?
  22. Not another Spurs fan ;-) Should be another fine day. Think Underachiever summed it up. Eat drink lots. You're going to burn between 6000 and 8000 calories! Don't get dropped. There should be a variety of groups of differing abilities, so staying bunched shouldn't be too much of an issue.
  23. Allright. W3RN3R. Looks to be a cold start 'round 0 deg C. Wind will be a bit on an issue as the day heats up (15 km/h from the West).

  25. It's almost that time of the month again. Any Hubbers riding Audax on Sunday?
