  1. I have done 500km plus on Kenda Nevegals with a ghetto conversion without a single complaint...
  2. Can anyone comment further on racing ralphs with ghetto conversion & stans sealant? yes / no / maybe?
  3. Sorry for the Hijack, but I am also looking for someone who can vouch for these bike racks. This Marius 3 in particular: 3 bike tow bar mounted carrier for less than the Thule xpress... sounds like a good deal? Only think I'm not so keen on is that on their website it shows this with two straps that go from the carrier and hook onto your boot lid to stop the carrier falling backwards... should that be necessary?

  5. Haven't read the whole thread, so I don't know if you've come right yet or not but you might find this helpful: https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/78337-led-lenser-bike-light/page__p__1117418__hl__led+lenser__fromsearch__1?do=findComment&comment=1117418 If he hasn't already been involved here, PM lenser, he can probably give you the best deal and service you will find.
  6. Did you get sorted out with this? I can help you with design and coordinating with manufacturers. www.diverseagencies.com
  7. I wonder why? I've changed the poll to allow for it...
  8. Really? Was this such a bad idea?
  9. Hi there, I am developing a cycling-orientated calender for 2011. The calendar will consist of a front cover, 12 pages of calendar, and a back cover. It will be a wall-type calendar, aproximately A3 size. The calendar pages will contain all the usual calendar info, as well as information about all the major races and related events that occur during that particular month, where information is available that far ahead of course. Each page will be “sponsored” by a cycling-related brand (bicycle / equipment manufacturers etc.) This means that if you “sponsor” a page, the page for that month will display your logo, contact details, and pictures of your products and/or team rider(s) in action. I would like to keep it as exclusive as possible, and include no more than one, or at the most two brands from each catagory (one bicycle brand, one clothing brand, one components brand, one safety equipment brand, one nutrition product etc etc). The back page will contain a listing of cycle shops around the country as well as other useful contacts like event organisers, clubs etc and all the other info that is usually found on the back of a calendar. The calendar will go on sale in late November / early December of this year. Buyers will either be able to purchace it online, or at any cycle shop in the country who is interested in participating. The purpose of having each page sponsored by a known cycling related brand is (a-) To create an adverising oppurtunity for the brands, (b-) to bring down the final selling price of the calendar, thereby increasing sales and maximising exposure, and (c-) to make the product more appealing to buyers by including thier favorite brand(s) and possibly thier favorite rider(s). Anyone who is interested in sponsoring a page in the calendar, placing a listing at the back of the calendar, or would like to sell the calendar in their shop, please contact me. jethro.mcmullan@gmail.com Obviously final pricing etc can only be determined based on the response from sponsors, and expected sales, so this will have to be advised later. Please take part in the poll to help me determine the viability of this venture.
  10. You've probably come right by now, but have a look here: www.ledlenser.co.za The M7 is very suitable and you can get a nice bike mount for it.
  11. How secure is that O-ring mounting setup on those magicshine lights? Anyone had a problem with then moving around or falling off?
  12. Styrofoam inner tubes...
  13. I have a 2009 GT avalanche 2. I'd like to start slowly upgrading bits and pieces if / when budget allows. What should I be looking out for first? Current specs are: Suntour XCR-LO fork Tektro Auriga Comp Hydraulic Disc Brakes. 8 Speed Alivio shifters, Shimano SLX rear derailleur Shimano FC- M311 Crankset 42/32/22 Octalink. 11-32 eight speed cassette.
  14. Is this really the place to discuss bonking schoolgirls...?
  15. Not sure if this is a stupid question or not...? guess I'll find out soon enough. I don't mean "downhill" downhill, just any descent on gravel or tar where your airspeed exceeds your pedaling speed - ie: you are freewheeling. Will a heavier rider have an advantage here? It seems to make sense cos more weight = more momentum...? There are two guys I ride with: the heaviest has the best bike and always seems to pull ahead on downhills. The middle weight guy has the next best bike, and seems to be the next fastest down hills. I am the lightest, with the lowest spec bike and can never keep up going down hills. Probably has a lot to do with the bikes, but would weight be a factor too? If the bikes are the main factor, what upgrades would be most effective to level the playing field?Jeffrnapln2009-11-23 02:19:09
  16. And right you are: an infringement! Good one, Johan, and sorry about the toes...
  17. Who is Johan Bornman? And I meant poaching the thread. I'm merely providing a service here - It's only below the belt if I'm treading on this Johan dude's toes. If I am I'd be glad if he told me.
  18. never mind... Jeffrnapln2009-11-20 07:02:24

  20. Tell you what - you can buy my old Smarty pedals for R150' date=' then use them to get an upgrade. How's that sound? [/quote'] Was this a joke? I'm looking for some smarties to try out cos they're the cheapest. Don't want to spend too much if I'm not going to like them. Or maybe Shamus will donate a pair of smarties that someone traded in...? Jeffrnapln2009-09-23 07:18:26
  21. "Not to my knowledge, but have a look at www.bikerader.com their website covers almost anything, there should be a write up on this light. " Email notification that the hub sent to me.... interesting... Bikerader.com is one of those heathenous sites that contain absolutely nothing but links to other sites that you don't want to visit.
  22. These are very bright. The bike mount isn't the best, I'm sure you can ge a generic bike mount that will work. Fenix PD30 PM me your email and I'll send you a video of a little test I did.Jeffrnapln2009-09-17 02:58:06
  23. Well' date=' I think its a good idea. My concern is the ink being used. I heard the other day, that most of these low-cost T-shirts are made with junk ink which fades and "wears" off... So im not sure where to start. [/quote'] Depends on how it's done. If you're only doing one or two it'll be a heat transfer. these will fade eventually from rubbing on other clothes etc. If you're doing lots it'll be silkscreened. This won't fade, but may eventually crack. Neither way will last forever, but then neither does a shirt... I have a cheap Mr price T-shirt that I did a heat transfer on about 2 years ago and the print has outlasted the shirt. The print will last even longer on better quality shirts.
  24. I've been trying to get some input from the Hub about doing this. No response as yet from the Contact us form. Maybe if some ultimate hubbers made some noise it would get their attention...?
  25. Awesome. You wouldn't happen to remember who / when / where any of these posts are...? I can't find any in the quick search and the advanced search seemed to have issues at the moment...
