I am looking forward to coming Saturday. I have no top end and really hope I can stick in the Cat2 bunch for a couple of laps. How many laps do they manage in the 1hr? I assume the starting times are the same as previous wknds? I will try get a few friends to join. Preferably slower ones so I don't get dropped 1st

Its not always just about a person sitting in your slip. When you and a buddy are out for a ride chatting along and all of a sudden there is a phantom prick riding overlapping wheel in your slip not saying a word. Sure you can politely ask him to come past but the point is that you should not have to ask/tell that person in the 1st place

Few things irritate me more than someone just latching on. At least introduce/greet and tell/ask the guy/people that you will be joining for while and if its ok. I don't walk into a restaurant and join strangers at their table

To be honest if I did not get a corporate entry I would perhaps have thought twice before entering because of the entry fee. I know it goes towards charity and I am all for that and I think they do a great job. But for me charity starts at home. I support wherever I can and when I can. Apart from this I do not slant the event because of my opinion regarding the entry fees. I am fortunate enough to enjoy the mtb'ing in this area every day if I want to. I wish the organisers all the success they deserve. I know Pieter well. He is a great guy and does a lot for mtb'ing in this area and others. Many don't know this but he probably is responsible for most of the epic route this year (and others). I am happy to see his efforts resulting in good causes benefitting. Many points more for him in my books Thumbs up to this being a great event

Go have some of the crab down at pier 39. Close to the pier there is a pub that makes the best Irish coffee in the world. Think it is the Buena Vista Cafe. I am serious! There is a coffee roaster in SF as well. The coffee is not bad at all. I did not see many bikeshops around. You will not find any bargains anyway. The prices are on par with ours from what I can remember. Just over the bridge is Sausalito. Over the wknds there are lots of cyclists packing the coffee shops there from San Francisco. It is also the town where the zodiac killer had 1 or 2 victims back in the day.Mtb'ing is big in that area. Santa Cruz and Specialized seems to be the bikes of choice around there I love San Francisco! We have a office just 1hr drive from there (Napa). I am trying to get a transfer there. Enjoy! I am jealous!
