  4. i got a giant vt 2, but i am trying to get hold of a teocali and then eventually a morewood ndiza, i ride in tokai and rhodes mem occasionally, i want to be faster around corners, learn how to do jumps and drop offs.
  5. I don't really know what to say but, anyway I am very slow downhill, and i think the idea of this thread is to have a whole bunch of post telling me(and others) that falling is overrated and if do this e.g. ignore the small rocks, but don't watch for the big ones, watch for the line next to the big rock. also please don't post dumb things, or if you do make sure to have it with some useful information
  6. you know when you have a get rich quick plan and then see an ad for it 10 minutes later...
  7. if cape town try factory cycles
  8. there are good looking bikes and there are bad looking bikes, then there are ones that you want a poster of more than you want your next breath... my favorites are the giant Faith and the trek session, even though i don't do either DH or FR
  9. think about something else on climbs, and make sound effects on the descents
  10. wait what? is the terminology wrong? sorry but you should know what i mean most cranks are attached to the front triangle, not something in the middle
  11. i really wanted to be able to properly explain it to you, so i will...witchcraft
  12. thanks, before i was like "maestro is very cool and the way the BB moves on the mongoose is strange" now buying a bike just became a lot easier
  13. to start off i don't know if there are even ten but, wateva there are some many ways of making a rear wheel go up and down but there is only one best way. think of lightness, stiffness, goodness at taking small/big bumps, if the crank stays where it is and any other things that rear suspension does what i want to know is: best for XC best for trail best for all mountain best for free ride best for down hill here are SOME vids of what there is to offer http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7IdrIAfb-is don't forget kona, trek, merida, specialized and anything else you know of
  14. thanks for all the advice
  15. Pakhuis to Sanddrif Boskloof to Algeria Sanddrif to Algeria Pakhuis to Algeria Kromrivier to Algeria i think i am only doing 3 of these(dunno which ones tho) and there is also a 30km ride thrown in as well
  16. i've had a sinus infection since june and have finally had it removed. this means i am super unfit and am going to cederberg hiking at the end of november. I've been told that i need to get fit otherwise it's just not fun. so, obviously walking up and down mountains is going to help but, i was wondering what else i can do, is spinning a good idea? got any other one? i know running is very good but i would like to avoid it if i can
  17. according to wikipedia and wiki anwsers the density of carbon fiber is 2.8 g/cm3 and aluminum is 2.70 g·cm−3 but carbon is much stronger this is probably very unhelpful unless you can find some find of industry standard for finding how hard you need to hit the tree before something breaks
  18. where can i but the movie TT3D?
  19. factory cycles has good prices ( if you are in cape town) i was very interested in a new one because the frame looks like a great building block to put lots of cool stuff on but someone told me in a very technical and complicated way that if i want a new soft tail i must not spend under 15 grand. cant remember what the technical and complicated reasons were but they sounded ligit. he said something about getting a new rear shock that fits, but isin't designed for that king of suspension and then doesn't work properly, or sumthing.
  20. rather get a new fork?
  21. ok, its actually not on my bike, but on one i want to get https://www.bikehub.co.za/classifieds/10499-santa-cruz-blur-lt1-frame-fox-vanilla-fork/ i have dibs, so don't get any ideas
  22. if you have a hole in your stansion should you repair it or replace the whole fork?
  23. thats correct, heating the disk will make it glow, but they are still going to glow if they are the other way round. what I'm trying to say is, you are going to run out of ball pressure before the arms brake, you or something else on the bike will before they do. so have them the way the looks coolest to you. (I hope I'm not offending anyone with my opinion here)
  24. bit late but, you are going over the handlebars/locking the wheel/into the tree before you get anywhere near the extension/compression limits of disk brakes, and if the arms do brake, the chances are its not your fault for putting them on the wrong way round, its the guy who designed it's fault, cause he is bad at his job. think about it, if you do xc the disks are not as beefy, but they don't have to stop as much weight from such high speeds(in most cases).
  25. hate to say i told you so - the hives espionage - green day
