  1. i wouldnt be surprised if computer parts are on the same profit levels as bike parts! if you can get an apple laptop for 15k, and a equivalent spec dell/whatever for 7k, what are the differences in manufacturing cost we all know that the mac will probably be built more solidly, but how much more expensive does that actually make it to... make?
  2. rock shox RS-1... i can buy a clutch for my car at the same price of a hans damph at my closest bike shop
  3. im not really a roadie, but i googled the super record 11 and just got a really fancy looking groupset, with possibly the best looking crankset ive seen in a while but by 5k would that be just for that tiny casette?
  4. expensive bar ends and aftermarket valve caps
  5. i think its called a profit margin, not sure, not studying that anyway, what do you look at and think "theres no way those cost that much to make" these items can be anything from sunglasses to tyres or even bottle cages these products are usually really good, but the price is still there... hint, my main opinions are in the tags
  6. i agree, although that frame and their XC frame also looks really cool for an xc bike
  7. http://brimages.bikeboardmedia.netdna-cdn.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/08/2014-Breezer-Repack-enduro-trail-mountain-bike01.jpg ya, that is what a bike should look like
  8. Ti LOOK frame, don't know much more about it! not necessarily looking for a sale, just testing the water

not sure how good these people are, but they did review the bikes side to side, which means they at least know the differences between each bike

depends what you want, if you want something that no one else on the trail will have, you're either gonna have to import or be very sneaky about it but if all you want is a good enduro bike, theres a very big range of choice, and you can't really go wrong, modern bike are all getting very, very good that being said, if it were me, id look at the yt capra (not avaliable soon or locally, so… yeah) or the new kona process 153 DL, i don't know why, but I'm a sucker for that bike for a real world answer to your question, I'm sure all the bikes you've mentioned are great, it would probably come down to value for money and post purchase support, if that still doesn't slim it down. flip a coin. like this: http://natestpierre.me/2012/05/18/make-decisions-by-flipping-coin/
  11. im not running tubeless, but can see from the inside of the onza that it has been run tubeless by the previous owner (i don't like tubeless because from my experience its been just as bad as tubes, only more expensive). there are a couple of tyres I'm thinking of getting, but what I'm going to do is buy a new front tyre and put the onza at the back, cause i got a feeling that a new front tyre will be better than a new back one. anyway, here are what I'm thinking of getting: another onza ibex, i like it that much hans damph, only heard good things about it magic mary, cause it has magic in the name... then i dunno, maybe a highroller 2 or an ardent, i hear the ardents are really nice
  12. have a 2.25 onza ibex on the front of my gt force i actually really like it, i had never heard of onza before i got the bike, but this tyre seems to be really nice and a 2.3 minion at the back "borrowed" it from my brother only like 3 months ago or so, and its trashed, which is a bit annoying, all in all i don't think i need to tell you guys what a minion is like, everyone has had one at some point (i quite like them)
  13. forgive my ignorance (never done any proper road riding) are those dimples in the ZIPPS advertised there so to work in the same way the dimples in golf balls work and decrease drag?
  14. omega man i know exactly who you are even still, i took your advice, turns out i was running at about only 180psi, so i pumped up to pretty much exactly 200psi, and did the same to the bottom out, it feels a lot more springy, but i lowered the rebound and that seemed to do the trick i think i got about 35% sag atm and i thought before the ride i just did that that would be too much, but it actually seemed fine
  15. digging that disclaimer dude. just wondering, how does anyone get to that rebound knob, that thing is harder to get too then your phone once its fallen underneath a car seat EDIT: i haven't been using the shock pump while the pro pedal is off, might give that a try
  16. so i thought id come to the best place to sort it out, the internet, where the more you shout the more correct you are, its science i have a fox DHX 5.0 air on my 2013 GT Force (large) i weigh 85kg and am 193m tall my problem is that the fox website tells me that i mustn't take my shock over 200 psi, so i have it set at 190 to 195 and it still feels very soft, is there anything i can do about it? are there mods avaliable that will let me ramp up the pressure a little more? what about set up, i don't know much about that but it chilling at like 45% sag, and i like my bikes on the harder side of ride
  17. thank goodness, i thought i might have to send it in to have the fat person chamber put in
  18. yeah see that axle sticking out that yellow hub? thats what broke on my old str8 track so didn't see any of your directions before i went to go fetch the hub, so i went to chris willemse and got one of their sales men to give me the directions it is a 2013 gt force, i thought i got the 135mm hub, but now that you guys mention it I'm not so sure, bt it doesn't matter cause i checked and it fits just fine, the wheel is being built at crown and i can fetch it on monday. i agree, first prize would have been a hope pro 2 or a superstar something, but i didn't want to wait and I'm hoping that the novatec will be #enduro enough for me, considering how much it weighs it should be able to handle anything i can throw at it. on an unrelated topic, does anyone know what the max pressure on my shock (fox dhx 5) is, because i think its 200psi or bar (you guys will know the unit) which is what I'm running it at and it still feels really soft
  19. i just ordered the hub off evobikes, although i specified that i would pick it up from their place in durbanville, after quite a lot of searching i still couldn't find their address. any ideas?
  20. thats the answer i was looking for! now i just need to work out how to buy stuff online and I'm good to go!
  21. ok, now I've run into a problem, what is the difference between these 2? http://www.evobikes....b-hube-32h.html http://dialdbikes.co...b-rear-hub.html and which is more worth getting?
  22. it is a sun ringle str8 track hub, that novatec hub seems like a pretty good option
  23. Hi guys the rear hub on my GT Force recently went though a dilemma, the result of said dilemma was that it decided to end the marriage between itself and the free body by breaking the internal axel. anyway, after being pulled through this tragic separation i am looking for change, i would like to know if anyone has a #enduro enduro spec hub for me (i think its 135x12mm). I am wanting something that won't break even after many, many hard hours of hard enduroing.
  24. I worked out the other day (a while back) that if you buy canyons top specced dh bike, and for some reason you get a perfect exchange rate all you pay for is the fork, the wheels and maybe the double barrel the rest of the bike is free id still rather get a tues 2.0 though and with regards to this thread, yt ftw (however check the price of the wicked with the box suspension, not sure what it is, but that is an awesome bike)
