  1. My Camelbak is commuter based on the Lovo & Mule NV - love it and would replace it with a Mule NV if I had to. Also 2nd the option of checking with CWC on best deals.
  2. Bias post alert
  3. Little Hubber also helps out with the bike washing but I like the idea of giving him his own bucket and brush - perhaps my bike will get washed more often.
  4. And Plentipotential silently puts on another flame suit while attemptig a lazy horse (luiperd) crawl out of the thread ...
  5. 6. Park Tool? No its X-Tool !!!
  7. I always check local before going CRC and most of my purchases have been done localy. But there are times where CRC wins hands down. My pannier bag for example, R380 landed all incl (import, etc) and localy I could not source anything for under R1K. My new pedals for R220 are antother CRC example, but my Park Tool floor pump was R20 cheaper at my LBS than CRC listed price ex VAT/delivery/duties.
  8. And you can get X 2009 for R220 with delivery, mine should be here soon ... cannot wait
  9. And Uncle Solomons has it for R499 and its 24pc not 18pc : http://solomons.co.za/taxonomy/term/152
  10. Bad example on using Bibshorts as CRC will most likely be more expensive than local, but we get the drift. Many Hubbers go Noah and buy two of a kind from CRC and still save themselves 50%.
  11. Eina, ouch, your going into thread land where us older Hubbers have learn't not to tread ... please put on your best flame suit and let the flamming begin
  12. Agree. I get from a local butcher that who sources from his family in Calvina (actually it was why he opened up the business to sell his brothers meat when there was an oversupply in the market years ago). The meat is in another league and ironic that its often cheaper than super markets.
  13. I read a blog about some LBS in the UK selling the 1L squirt to the public. It was about twice the price of the small bottle. Apparently the 1L is reserved for the LBS mechs only.
  14. I buy both mutton and lamb each month as it all depends on what I want to do with it. And I prefer mine to come from Colesburg (Klein Karoo) or Calvina region, don't like the Springbok-Upington meat.
  15. Firstly I like that TREAD article as it gets to the point that thousands of threads on the cycling internet continue to debate. One important thing is to lube the right part of the chain - too many lube noobs start out by lubing the entire chain, especially the outside - the part that does not care about lube but loves to gather all the muck. I lube each roller with great patience, wipe the chain, then wipe again and for good luck give it one more wipe. The next morning I wipe it again. Chain stays clean on the outside but all the goodness has gotten time to get to the inside. Think of it as inner beauty for chains, its what on the inside that counts.
  16. Yeah, I'm a mutton fan - true Kaapie
  17. Personally I think its a term used on the Hub to describe everything from poor shifting to dirty chains and not forgetting poor riding skills. I need to rather answer your question with question, why do you feel you suffer from Chain Suck?
  18. One thing I always notice about the Squirt fans is that you are all up country - I seldom hear of someone up north not using Squirt. Down here in the Cape its a different story. Never tried Squirt but then again few of our LBSs actually sell it. My Epic/Sani mad MD swears by it, oh wait he is from up country, and I still want to try based on his recommendation.
  19. I'm waiting for my new pedals from CRC, damn its taking long. Order was dispatched last week Monday and its now the 7th working day. Damn Royal Mail. My last order took only 5 working days (1 week) from the time of order till it was at my post office and that was only last month.
  20. How many tyres you go through a month with all your riding?
  21. I would say this is true with any wet lube. Even my Finish Line which I use to hate works 100% perfect since I took the time and patience to apply correctly.
  22. After looking at your graph I would 2nd the idea of getting someone to work out your proper max HR. Not saying its not possible you where in Zone5, but looking at the altitude gain, altitude loss and flat distances, not even on my MTB being overweight and suffering from asthma would I stay in Zone5, more like Zone4.
  23. Zone 5 is 90%-100% so that would be > 170 avg for me. Personally I'm at an avg 155 on a long ride but it would all depend on the route as I can avg > 170 on my one commute to work, but not for 3 hours.
  24. Yes, but David on the other hand will most likely be trekking with his 100kg backpack full of Cyclomax orders ... the guy is a robot. Pitches up at Argus MTB Challenge last year with like 30kg of lugage in his backpack to drop off some orders. He did not even break into a sweat after cycling out from Cape Town via Wellington !!! Hell, I bailed out after 10km due to the heat and this man was cooler than Vanilla Ice.
  25. Your the only guy I've meet in person that can make such a statement. Your the Chuck Norris of cycling. Enjoy it
