no, its not a statement about which wheel size is faster. It is saying that a 26er can ACCELERATE faster, because a 29er has more weight distributed further from the hub than a 26er. Its pretty obvious - you can accelerate much faster on a BMX. Its horses for courses - not sure you would ride a BMX in XCM, but at the same time, you won't ride a 29er in a BMX race

Although I actually agree with you that what they did was not smart, and very probably exacerbates motorist aggression towards cyclists, I don't get your hostility to others in this post. You need to wind your neck in. Don't be a part of the problem, rather offer a solution. If the club in question is so concerned about cyclist safety, then their actions do not demonstrate it. Using an unmarked car to drag traffic to a halt on a very narrow, and clearly busy road INVITES dangerous driving behaviour - it is plain and simply stupid. If they have suffered fatalities, then organise rides where there is more space, use a branded or marked vehicle, and make sure the route tries to stay off busy or narrow roads. DO NOT assume that you have this self-entitled right to do as you please - people who have suffered loss or damage sadly develop (dare I say it) an unhealthy sense of entitlement, but this will NOT protect you from injury when a p1ssed off driver goes over your head - be smart. Stop thinking you have rights - you probably do, but cars don't care

I agree with the OP, but I think you lost the plot with this post. Nobody deserves to be knocked over or killed - I think you should take back what is a clearly inflammatory and massively obtuse comment. The arrogance of Bruce Reyneke cycles and its group of merry idiots DIRECTLY contributes to car hostility to cyclists. Holding up a whole lane of traffic by riding 3 or 4 abreast is just an @sshole thing to do - no questions, AND its illegal - extra scoop of d_0_o_s. It is selfish and smacks of self-entitlement. Guess what hubbers - cars don't give a s#it about your "right" to use the road. If you add fuel to the fire of motorist anger against cyclists by riding like pillocks, all that will result is that more of us will get hurt. You lot need to get over this "we have the right to do this and that.." attitude - sure you will be right, but you will be either dead right, or lying in a hospital bed for 6 months right - ever heard of a pyrrhic victory - look it up.
