  1. Sounds like all the justification I need ... pour me another
  2. Awesome - gone straight on my birthday list!
  3. The first year they added Boyes I hated it - but now I look forward to it just as much as any other part of the ride. Count my vote. I'd like to see it stay in.
  4. No ... stop ... I don't need to know that ...
  5. Had quite a few similar days visiting my folks - happy times
  6. Holy cr*p - lovely, but R22k - wow! The cost would leave me such a bitter taste I'm not sure I'd ever be able to enjoy the coffee
  7. No apology needed - fascinating to get the views from someone who really knows. I always knew there was a lot of elements to a good cuppa, but never realised how much! Thanks for the "Betty's" note - a nice reminder of York where my folks live!
  8. Or trying to work out which end you pour the Guiness into
  9. He lives in Greenpoint ....
  10. Reading this I am darned glad I don't have to choose between cycling and coffee - hard to say which I enjoyed more today, the ride along the coast, or the capuccino afterwards. And with that - I'm off to make a cuppa. All this talk has got me needing a good strong one
  11. +1 on the moka pot - never go camping without one, and use it at home sometimes too. Makes a great cup
  12. Mine is ~R185/session. Sure it varies from trainer to trainer and gym to gym. It seemed like a lot when I first started, so much so it nearly put me off. Three months in though, I can honestly say no piece of kit I have bought has ever done more for my riding - so it now seems no more bad than spending 100s or 1000s on bikes and parts. I would say though - mine came recommended, and he's an ex pro cyclist so he knows what to work on. I reckon I got lucky, sure some of the trainers aren't nearly so good.
  13. Past year's I've done the same - once Argus is done, head back indoors for spinning. I always felt it start of next season though, sluggish and unused to being on the bike. This year is first I've ditched the spinning - in it's place I do a gymn core strength session once a week with a personal trainer. And I'm trying to still get out on bike 2 or 3 times (generally 2 with time constraints). I have to say, so far I feel stronger and better for it than what spinning did for me. We've had good weather so far, but I got some decent cold and wet weather gear from UK for when it isn't - just hope my determination keeps up though. Just my 10c - nothing wrong with spinning per se, it just didn't do much to maintain any real on-bike fitness for me.
  14. That is k*k - sorry to hear. I had a Merc do the same to me on the R44, plus hoot as he sped off. Nearly came off badly. Hope you get a picture or something of him and can file a report - go with "attempted murder", that will get his attention and maybe make him think what he was doing.
  15. I have this Saeco model - makes a very nice espresso and cappucino. If I had the 10k for a machine, and it was more than just me in the house that drinks coffee, I would definitely have gone for a Jura as other guys have said. But for the price, this is an ok machine - it does drip a bit, but that's what the drip tray is for. Also budget ~R450 for a proper burr grinder - I went with this one: http://www.krups.com/NR/rdonlyres/25B32B40-79CE-41C7-9E3F-2D08FE95A409/0/gvx2_main.jpg Again, it's an entry level/budget item but does the job much better than those k*k two blade "just break the beans don't grind them properly" ones you get at Game etc. They sell both at our Dion. I like Nespressoa lot - but sometimes I want to try different beans from a local specialist. Would hate to be stuck to the same blends all the time. - Rob
  16. Known issue with Edge 500 - If you have a speed/cadence sensor installed it overrides the GPS, even if it stops working due to alignment slipping or battery dying. I think you found already you can export a file with just the GPS data in it (GPX I think) to salvage your ride position data. If you had valid cadence data, you can also manually hack the TCX file to strip just the bad speed/distance data but keep the cadence data - it's more of a mission to do that though.
  17. Most years the roadie goes away after the Argus - and the MTB comes out on better days, spin on the really wet ones. This year though is all different - no spinning, still training on the roadie even on the k*k wet days, and MTB when I have time. Got some decent wet/cold weather gear coming over from the UK in two weeks time. Hope it's better than what I have now, which is rubbish aside from one decent Polaris long sleeve jersey!
  18. Odd - had good service from Wiggle so far, also very responsive to enquiry emails. Pretty certain my orders shipped from UK as they were Parcel Force, which is a UK firm. They did split my order, but I knew one item was out of stock when I placed it and was happy to get most of the order early and the 1 part later.
  19. I went with DHL (most expensive) and it took about 6 or 7 days
  20. Edit - the mount is a bit "workmanlike" though (aka "fugly")
  21. Use LED Lenser P7 on my roadie. Can't speak to battery life yet as still on first set, but love the brightness for road use.
  22. I had a Suunto hiking watch and loved it until the battery died. Ordered the new battery kit, and rubber O ring seals which you need to replace at same time. I also liked that it was self-service for battery replacement .... except .... the seals never did, and the watch then died due to moisture getting in. Was still in warranty at that stage, and Suunto were great about replacing it - same thing happened on next battery replacement though, which was then out of warranty and that was the end of it. Loved the watch though - maybe the battery thing is better now.
  23. Just make sure he buys you a comfy saddle too in case you're sore in the payment area
