  1. Any formal news on re-seeding, do we wait till registration or can we already engage with Racetec?
  2. Well for me and the wife it was a good day, and her seeding improved by 17 points So do we query her CTCT seeding now already, or wait for the registration?
  3. Just a shame that there are less and less riders participating, but I know the reasons have been discussed here multiple times over and over.
  4. I think he means 12 hours 38 minutes
  5. It will be very windy on the day and half way through the day the wind will switch from South to North
  6. Was sort of my thinking too about the group sizes. The only viable answer (seeing as you cant really rely on all cyclists to stick to the rules of it will disadvantages them.. ie stuck behind a dead wheel). Is for more limits on the first few group on their size and time space.
  7. So my question, why at certain points did the groups again not only cross the white line but nearly crossed the yellow line on the other side of the road Groups that got to big? Riders apathy? Fear of being dropped especially around corners? Or not consequences of being penalised ?
  8. All thanks to the bold racers that decided that it is there right to cross the white line
  9. Forgot to mention, the size of the groups really seems to have worked well
  10. Me and my son thoroughly enjoyed the race - The parking was a breeze and the marshalls quickly made sure that all the cars got a spot (helped by some people that probably bailed) - bonus of being so close to the presentation area - Smooth process to get to the start - More than enough marshalls at the venue and on route (can't talk about how they acted to keep everyone in line, but from my vantage point all the front groups had either one or two bikes / vehicles shadowing them. - The weather was perfect with one a bit of rain at the start and end to keep it nice and cool The few areas of improvements was not of such a nature that they impacted on our enjoyment. In short, thank you very much Paarl Rotary and Bouckaert-Soenen for organising.
  11. Where do you see the group sizes ?
  12. This sounds like a good thing, smaller groups (or is this only a good thing if you work on the assumption that the riders are correctly seeded)
  13. Have you signed him up as PPA family member, if so it wont be right at the back. And also would suggest after you get your seeding, of course ideally sign the two of you up for the next sportif, which might also help as it will give him at least some kind of seeding
  14. And sparked some side threads too
  15. From the early route maps it looks the same, not sure if they will tweak anywhere But I stand to be corrected
  16. Th thread this year feels much more subdued than previous years this time around, or is that just me blocking a bad experiences. Either be a sign that people are maturing or that people are just not caring anymore
  17. That is a D-bike, which is still allowed the same as a S-Bike (son at the back), W-Bike (wife at the back)... sorry no E-bike (ex gf at the back) allowed
  18. Entered and looking forward to the race / ride
  19. Confirmed... no ebikes allowed The organisers of the 2019 Cape Town Cycle Tour would like to reiterate that no E-bikes will be permitted on the Cape Town Cycle Tour. Only bicycles powered 100% by the cyclists’ own efforts are permitted to participate. Anyone caught attempting to enter a start chute or planning to cycle on an E-bike will be turned away and they will not be permitted to ride the Cycle Tour. This provision is in line with international cycling rulings and is in the interest of participant safety. In the interests of the tens of thousands of Cycle Tour entrants riding on standard bikes, the organisers need to put their safety first. The organisers are investigating dedicated cycling opportunities for E-bike riders as this is a growing component of the sport - but unfortunately the mixing of standard bicycles and E-bikes in a large race format would not be a responsible decision by the event organisers. For the sake of clarity please refer to clause 2 of the Rules of Entry 2.1.Every rider may only ride a human powered vehicle to complete the course Kind Regards The Cape Town Cycle Tour Organising team
  20. Reading all the comments here I am sure that we won't be getting long distance races again in the S Suburbs again.
  21. So who is signing up for SCT the encore ? Next weekend it is the PPA Simonsvlei race, which is basically the same as this weekends race, just with a different start point (and PPA marshals)
  22. Not a lot of hubbers here have good stuff to say about PPA so is nice to actually hear that they do provide a good event organisation
  23. Agree with you in that.. was a bit nervous during the race about the car. Luckily there were a bunch of traffic officers parked and directing traffic about 50m from the vehicles.
  24. Nice venue (and the added benefit of being able to go for a swim was a winner). Having started in the tandem group we got to see a lot of the groups shooting past us and that some those groups were huge and scare especially on that downhill before you hit agter paarl Parking.. that was never going to work out and we ended up parking 4km away from the venue and pedaling in, which in hindsight was the best call, but it makes you wonder how the event got signed off. I have been to others where they have limited the number of participants because of aspects like limited parking, which it seemed that they expected but not understanding that lots of humans prefer to pitch up as late as possible. On the route, having done the cyclesportif simonsvlei before a number of times, it was not so much of a surprise to not have Hellsh at the start and always thought it would make for a nice change of venue, but now thinking that the one benefit is the fact that hells do break up the groups a bit which only happened much later now than normal. What is the ideal solution? I am not sure as expect starting at a school maybe in paarl I am not sure what is an other viable option.... but then for sure they cant call it stell cycle tour anymore, val de vie as a central location is already a push.
  25. Jip. Started my timer when our group started within the estate and it is the same as what racetec is showing
