  1. Question about the finish time tags, if you do not who in the family is which one, is there a website or way to figure it out? Or is the only option to go the starting line and find out which one is which one? Edit: ok got the answer, the number is on the envelope
  2. Well I did the shorter route, and when those long rout guys shot past us (after the route merger), I had a lot of respects for them..
  3. Is there a 2024 page? if not. Really enjoyed the ride/race today. Always a winner when there is potatoes at the water points. ;-) And lucky that the weather played along
  4. What is the conditions of the trails and routes? Thinking of going there again this weekend
  5. Thanks again for all the organisers, marshals, traffic officers, pointsmen & woman. Really enjoyed the ride, and the new people that I met on the route, especially that made the last few km fly past. I know for a lot of people it might sound like waste of money to spend on a route you can ride for free, but the benefits for me is that there is additional safety, and also supporting the young riders who get exposed to group rides.
  6. Thank you to all involved. We really enjoyed the short route. did not really get involved in the after race aspects so cannot comment on that. Just always amaze me the amount of coordination, planning and people involved in such an event. Ok. After reading some of the comments.. luckiky we were nearly late for our start so by then the parking was. Not so much of an issue and I liked the new timing chips but did not realised they just temp... i liked the position than trying to find a spot on your handlebars. The fact that they temp is not so good.
  7. As far what most people indicated that the frame was actually not that bad.
  8. The weather today.. wow, not sure what it looked like on the Peninsula side, but in the Northern Subs I don't think you could have asked for a more perfect day. If today was a actual race day there would have been many that would have had FOMO.
  9. I will test it next time again but as far as I have found it only allows a tap if you are on the tap screen and not when on another one. But I am comfortable that I can be corrected.
  10. Have a vivoactive (linked to investec) and works amazing. If you can tap you can use your Garmin to pay. And if it is above a certain amount you still need to punch in your PIN on the card device.
  11. Does not look like they even did a tubeless conversion
  12. This has now been confirmed, refer to the article
  13. This is really sad news, wonder when they will close off those routes. Just want to thank the landowners for the time they did allow us to ride those sections, and I am sure that the BHC will have something interesting in store for the future.
  14. Apologies, there is already LOTS of messages on this thread, has it been confirmed that the dog was in fact not on a leash? I could not see it in the OP on facebook.
  15. everesting is now been replaced by "trenching" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dFQ5fVjQACc
  16. Jip it was, but then I had to go and reply.. and I am sure my opinion was raised probably at the time of the poll too, so really kicking a dead horse.. (at this time just a pile of bones)
  17. Well facts of facts ;-) When the totals of Q 1 / 2 / 3 does not add up (ie the number of participants that indicated they are members or not members) that means either the set up of the poll was not clear enough and / or that the results can be ignored as it is flawed. The only value the poll had was to re-start an old conversation again, which can be a benefit, as dialogue can (sometimes) lead to more clarity and reflection, but for the results and the graphs those are wasted pixels. DAMN, got pulled into a response.. should rather focus on the matter at hand which is that we going to loose a section of the system soon.
  18. Posted on the "correct" thread now about the warning received.. but fully agree with you as I don't blame the landowner at all in this matter, and what they don't realise it can have future ramifications when the club approaches other landowners in future
  19. FINAL WARNING We hereby inform all club members of one last warning given to us by one of our landowners (The Traverse / St Johns route), to ensure our members respect riding times, and riding only on the marked route. No further negotiations or concessions will be made by the landowner. ALSO NOTE, THAT ANY MEMBER FOUND GUILTY OF A TRANSGRESSION OF AFOREMENTIONED, WILL SEE HIS / HER MEMBERSHIP REVOKED. For those that has been with us for some time, will see a similar pattern here, which eventually cost us the famous Kliprug trail..... In general this has been a bad week for our club with a number of incidents reported by various landowners, and still sightings of members bringing along non-members unto the trails. As always, the largest portion of us are not at fault here, and the actions of the minority are to blame.....sadly, as in past, this could very well be to the detriment of the whole club. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD THAT EACH MEMBER HAS A RESPONSIBILITY TO ABIDE BY THE CLUB'S VERY SIMPLE AND BASIC RULES, FOR THE GREATER GOOD OF THE WHOLE CLUB.
  20. Apologies, you right, just saw the thread topic (without noting that it linked to the "non sensical poll"), these posts probably need to be on the other one
  21. ? sorry the lockdown got to me.. bit slower today.. the matter about a potential loss of a section of the trails sounds very much on topic
  22. Alternatively to show the landowner how serious the club is about rogue riding, close the trails for a week (including marshalls patrolling it as the entry points)
  23. The thing is for those that don't want to comply with the rules it does not matter what you put up, because people break locks, go over fences, or will just find another spot to get within the perimeter. And a lot of people don't want to be that guy / girl that calls out bad behaviour because they not looking for trouble. And those that are members and that HAVE read the emails about only riding sunrise to sunset and still don't care.. they will just say they paid for a full year and were prevented to ride for 2 months so now they just getting back some of their fee's value, and riding when it suits them. The answer.. probably closer to all members being "that" guy or girl that calls out bad behaviour when we see or hear about it...{but that is not going to happen that often as some of us probably know of people disregarding other rules and turning a blind eye)
